00:00Mark Duplass and his wife Katie joining us.
00:02How's it going?
00:03Mark Duplass, wife Katie.
00:04How are you?
00:05How are you?
00:06I'm Janiece.
00:07Nice to see you guys.
00:08You look amazing.
00:09Thank you very much.
00:10I'm sorry.
00:11Were you talking to me?
00:12Did I miss that?
00:13You look amazing.
00:14She was talking about you.
00:15I know.
00:16We know.
00:17We know.
00:18Okay, good.
00:19Just checking.
00:20How's your evening been so far?
00:21Great.
00:22It's been great, man.
00:23It's been really nice people so far.
00:24Yeah.
00:25You guys are nice.
00:26A lot of old friends.
00:27People holding mics are nice.
00:28You caught us early.
00:29I woke up this morning and was like, my feet are done.
00:32How do I have another day?
00:35I can't.
00:36It has been a weekend.
00:37It has.
00:38How does it feel to have the Morning Show so celebrated this year?
00:41It's been celebrated since the first season, but to see it get so many nominations this
00:46year.
00:47Take off.
00:48It was crazy.
00:49Listen, I'll be honest.
00:50I'm real thankful that succession is over because that made some room for us.
00:53That was really good.
00:55I think that the supporting actress category for me is the real point of Pride.
01:00We have four nominations in that category.
01:03You've got Holland Taylor, who's been doing incredible work for 50 years, sometimes very
01:08unheralded.
01:09Nikki Bihari, who's new.
01:10We've got Karen Pittman, who's been with me season one through the whole thing.
01:15Greta Lee, who broke out in indie film last year.
01:18That's the best part of this show, is Reese and Jen paving the way with their celebrity
01:23and then opening it up for other cast members to do their thing.
01:26It's such a talented cast, top to bottom.
01:28It's like a real stacked bench.
01:30It's almost unfair.
01:31That's crazy.
01:32I was like, you're up for supporting actress this year?
01:34This is very...
01:35I'm in the actor category with two other guys, too.
01:39It's loaded.
01:40It's crazy.
01:41No, for sure.
01:42Is he the morning person?
01:43Yeah.
01:44We're both morning people.
01:45He's like a slower morning person.
01:47I get up, I get the dogs, I get the kids going.
01:49He kind of gets up and checks his emails.
01:52Our routines are a little different, but we're pretty good morning people.
01:55You're basically telling everybody I'm really lazy and I don't do anything.
01:57I do everything and he doesn't do a lot.
01:58That's what she's doing.
01:59That's what she does.
02:00And she waits to do this while we're on camera.
02:01This is what you're supposed to do in therapy.
02:03It's the only way to effect change.
02:05We're like Oprah, basically.
02:07It is therapy.
02:08I just feel like if it is on camera, it will make a difference.
02:12But you're not validating my feelings right now.
02:15We're doing the work, you guys.
02:16We are doing the work.
02:18We're doing the good work.
02:19Knowing from the show, obviously it's about producing a live morning show,
02:23does that give you even more respect?
02:25Not for what we're doing, because we're just winging it up here.
02:27We're chilling.
02:28But when you see what's going into all these productions and the camera,
02:30the fantastic crew.
02:31I'm fishing for compliments right now.
02:32Not for me.
02:33The minute I started talking, I realized that that's what it was going to sound like.
02:35You can have it.
02:36I don't know how you guys do it with someone talking in your ear.
02:38I feel like I would lose my mind.
02:40You have to do that a lot on camera, right?
02:42Yeah, I mean...
02:44Where they feed you your lines on the...
02:46To me, no.
02:49I use cue cards, and you know I use the cue cards, honey.
02:52I feel like parents know what that's like.
02:54They're trying to hold an adult conversation while there's 900 things.
02:57Just in our case, the adults are the ones in the ear.
03:00And you're ignoring the adults.
03:01I don't know.
03:02I feel like I knew the stress, because I produce independent film.
03:05And I was like, I got this.
03:06But it's the live element.
03:08And once you realize, that's where the little sweat comes from.
03:11That's where the hidden diarrhea comes from, guys.
03:14We know.
03:15We know.
03:16We get it.
03:17We know what's happening.
03:18When you are just backstage with Reese, with Jen,
03:24what are those moments like?
03:25What are they like when the cameras are off and you guys are just kicking it?
03:28Okay, this is where I'm supposed to say, no matter what they're like,
03:31how nice and humble they are.
03:33But the truth is, they really are incredible.
03:36My supposition is that somewhere through their journey coming up in the 90s,
03:43when they were just actresses,
03:44they probably had some crappy male bosses that were around.
03:47And they made a decision like, when I'm the boss,
03:49I'm going to make this set the best set it can be.
03:52I'm going to be inclusive of everybody.
03:54And I'm going to make sure the writers team writes great roles
03:57of supporting cast, show up at the award shows.
04:00And they do it, man.
04:02They really do it well.
04:03I love it.
04:04We need more of that in the world.
04:05I love it.
04:06I love it.
04:07Well, enjoy your Emmys evening.
04:08It's such a pleasure to chat.
04:09You look so good.
04:10Yes.
04:11Both of you look stunning.
04:13You know what?
04:14We really took care of each other.
04:15We did.
04:17We did a little complimenting.
04:18We did.
04:19Yeah.
04:20Yeah.
04:21Lovely.
04:22Enjoy your evening.
04:23Thank you guys.
