00:00The number of cases of dengue in the country has increased due to the rainy season, while the number of cases of mpax in the country is increasing.
00:08This is the story of Bien Manalo.
00:12The Department of Health confirmed that they have 18 mpax cases in the Philippines since last month.
00:20Of these, 5 have recovered while 13 are still isolated.
00:2611 are from the National Capital Region, 6 are from Calabarzon, and 1 from Cagayan Valley.
00:33Secretary Herbosa clarified that the Food and Drug Administration or FDA has not yet approved a vaccine against mpax.
00:41Our testing is ongoing.
00:43People are being told how to get this.
00:48We've also started to disseminate information to all local chief executives, barangay officials, and business owners.
00:56Meanwhile, the number of cases of dengue in the country has increased to 68 percent since last year, according to the Health Department.
01:04Secretary Herbosa clarified that this is also due to the beginning of the rainy season.
01:10As you know, when the bear months and rainy season come, the number of cases is increasing.
01:18The trend is continuously increasing.
01:20In the past month, the trend is still 25 percent.
01:25We are warning our countrymen about the disease of dengue.
01:30Currently, there are more than 208,000 cases of dengue in the country.
01:35Some regions are also under the state of calamity due to more than 40 percent dengue cases in the area, including Region 3, Region 6, and Region 7.
01:46Because of this, the Health Department is working hard to open the hospitals of the people who are suffering from dengue or AIDS-AGP.
01:56This includes increasing the use of vector control, which will reduce the number of people infected with dengue.
02:02We are distributing larbicide and adulticide to our regional offices to reduce the number of cases.
02:13It is also important to look for the causes of the disease, such as old tires, piles, and the debris of the house.
02:23But despite the increase in the number of cases of dengue, the DOH insisted that the fatality rate is decreasing.
02:30In fact, the fatality rate dropped to 0.26 percent from 0.39 percent last year.
02:38The number of people infected with dengue is increasing rapidly.
02:44The government is continuing to urge the public to maintain a clean environment to prevent the death of dengue.
02:53BN Manalo for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
