00:00last two minutes. So, as bad as we think we have it out here in San Francisco,
00:04it's nothing like Philadelphia. But we do have our own problems that we need to focus on.
00:08We can laugh all we want to at Philadelphia, but if the Niners lose to the Rams, we could be,
00:13a lot of people will be laughing at us with the way things are going here. No Deebo Samuel for
00:17the next few weeks. You look at the schedule for the 49ers, the Rams this Sunday, the Patriots
00:22the week after, the Cardinals the week after that, and then you go to Seattle in the short
00:26week before hosting Kansas City and the Dallas Cowboys. So, you've got to stack up these wins
00:32right now over the next two weeks against a beat up Rams team and the New England Patriots,
00:36and you're going to have to do it without Deebo Samuel and Kirsten McCaffrey. So,
00:40we're going to learn a lot, a lot more about Brock Purdy and Brendan Aiyuk.
00:45Yeah, there's no doubt about it. And I think the Brock Purdy thing is interesting. Quarterback
00:48play around the league seems to be down in terms of effectiveness, touchdown passes. Like,
00:54there's lots of different metrics. I think there are a lot of young players playing right now. I
00:57think clearly to your point about preseason, the last couple of weeks, it's inarguable. Nobody's
01:04playing in the preseason and all these teams look sloppy and there's not a lot of synergy.
01:08Then you couple that with, wow, there are a lot of really good pass rushers in the league right now.
01:14Wow. Offensive line play, cohesion is really down right now. So like, I think all of these things
01:20are kind of happening all at once. And then you lose a lot of older 30 year old legends over the
01:25last five, six years. And now you look up and it's like, oh, the old players in the league. Now I
01:31know Aaron Rodgers is still playing, but like the old players in the league are like Mahomes and
01:35Josh Allen. You know, like those are the young guys just a couple of years ago. So I look at
01:40Brock Ponte and I say like, does he need to carry them the way that Buffalo has Josh Allen carrying
01:47them? No, but he has to play better football for them to win. And I think it's a really important
01:52stretch for him. And it's interesting that you bring up Jalen Hurts because clearly Jalen Hurts
01:56was MVP caliber of the league and was a dominant force. And whether it's coaching, the physical
02:04wear and tear, the injuries, there's a variety of reasons on why he has not performed close to what
02:09he was that MVP caliber season. And I think Brock can play better than what he did on Sunday. I
02:15think his offensive line wasn't great, but I also don't think that he saw the field really well.
02:20I thought he was a little pressured by the rush and I thought that his eyes went down on the rush.
02:26And I just look at his accuracy, which is one of the things he hangs his hat on, just not where it
02:30needs to be. And I just charted, you know, I like to chart every play. I do my own kind of way of
02:35doing it. And when I watch it back a second and third time and I did highlights and I highlighted
02:40what I deemed to be below average plays, and this is on the Brock ranking. Okay. And what I above
02:46average plays, I had 14 of each from Brock. Okay. And we can argue like, Hey, well, this linebacker,
02:53you know, stunted and no one saw it. All right. But like, he's been really good at making that
02:59first guy miss, you know, like I expect them to. And, and yeah, it's, it's everything, you know,
03:03the route combinations, the play calls other players, but on the Brock level, I thought it
03:08was a subpar Brock game. That's all. And I love Brock. I just, I didn't think it was even close
03:14to like an average Brock game, you know, 49 or Frankie shout out to 49 or Frankie gurus. Boy,
03:19you text me yesterday. We were talking about checkouts. He goes, man, they need to check it
03:23down more. He's got to use the check down when five or six are coming. I said, well,
03:28they don't have any check down options anymore. Right? However, he goes, watch Mason on the third
03:32plate again. So as I'm firing up the game again, forget the third plate of game, second plate
03:38again, tie back place. Mason's out in the flat. He's got a blocker in front of him. Maybe you
03:44check it down to him. You get 10 yards or something. Third down, you got to check down
03:48to Jordan Mason and he forces it to Debo Samuel. And from that point on, as I'm watching, there's
03:53a lot of force throws from Brock pretty. It was like, he was, he was really locked in on
03:58Debo in this football game, forcing it over the middle of the field. That's where, you know,
04:02the Minnesota Vikings in our fast linebackers here, which our guy chase would, uh, uh, not
04:07chase, which cashman should be blank. Cashman for the Vikings was flying all over the place,
04:12all over the place. He was reading Brock Brock was staring down receivers left and right. So
04:17on the Brock scale of things, cause he's really good. He can process better than the most of them.
04:21But I looked at this field, but I took it away and said, Brian, Florida's just confused the
04:25living crap out of them over and over and over. But when it comes to checking it down,
04:29yeah, we know McCaffrey's not there. And that was a big factor in this football game.
04:34Before that, Frankie goes, look at the third play of the game. And before I even got to the third
04:38play of the game, I got to the second play of the game ago. Oh yeah. He could have checked it out
04:41right there. Could have checked it out right there. Brock was just off in this game. He was,
04:45but you're granted it when you play 30 really good games, you're, you're allowed, uh, you know,
04:50a week game, you know what I mean? Like it happens. No one expects you to be lights out.
04:53So, you know, we've seen Peyton Manning threw up duds, you know, Tom Brady talked about how
04:59there were certain defenses that for whatever reason flummoxed him. There's a guy Spagnola.
05:03I don't know if you ever heard of him. You know, he got the best of Brady a few times. So,
05:08you know, Brian Flores having Brock's number and this offense's number is not new to the NFL,
05:13but what is, is like him staring down like receivers. And you referenced that third play
05:18of the game, the way he was so locked in on Debo, that linebacker jumping in his flight,
05:22he flew, he flew right over there. He led him right into Debo Samuel. No doubt, but terrible.
05:26But he also, again, like had a great shotgun pass that he lobbed over to Kittle. For example,
05:31on the second one, he had hitting his third read for Juan Jennings on a first and 20,
05:36which was an absolute dime. Like it was such a mixed bag for him. And I think we're all so
05:42accustomed to a much cleaner game. He, he felt rushed. He felt befuddled. He felt confused,
05:48which is why he walks up to Brian Flores after the game going, man, that scheme is crazy.
05:53It was like, Ooh, yeah, he was lost. He was lost looking at the scheme. This scheme had them
05:58and there was plays out there to be made. So moving forward here without McCaffrey, without Debo,
06:03it is imperative for him to use every single asset out there, whether it's Jennings, IU,
06:09Kittle Mason. And I think, I do think shenanigans going to have to go away for what he usually does,
06:15which is where he calls plays. He goes, Hey, you go to this guy. This guy's going to be open.
06:19I think he needs to have on his whiteboard this week against the LA Rams.
06:22Brandon, I use 12 targets. Oh, at least we need 12 targets. At least we have to force feed you.
06:29And we got to get you into the season because now this is very important without people saying,
06:33can you imagine they had traded Brandon? I, you can, you got no Depot. You just have to watch
06:37it. He's a Chris Colley that got your side, Brandon. I, but now it's the time to say,
06:41you know what, Brandon, are you, you're getting at least 12 targets in his football game.
06:44Kittle you're getting at least 10 to 12 targets in his football game. And we're going to use you
06:50so much. You guys are premium players. We have to use you and take advantage of your talents here.
06:55So that's, you know, we're Brock and Shanahan. They've got to get breaded out. You go in here.
06:59The great quarterbacks find a way to make it work. You don't have to be spectacular.
07:05You just got to move the sticks, get your team into scoring position. And with Kittle Mason
07:10and Iuke, I believe they have enough weaponry. I do too, but don't be afraid to take your
07:15checkdowns. This is why Jordan Mason bought the judge machine. He's ready to catch some
07:20passes out in the backfield. Checkdowns are open. You got to take them pretty, pretty,
07:23got a little greedy last week. We'll continue to roll out pretty Nick and Berkeley. We get to you
07:27on the other side and an eight, nine, five, seven, nine, five, seven, zero. How do you feel about
07:31Brock produce performances of Vikings? We talked all about Shanahan yesterday. We talked all about
07:35everything else, both the defense, but what about Brock Purdy, the quarterback here before
07:40we get the body at seven 30, that's all.
