With Labour promising to nationalise the railways over the next few years, we went out into Manchester to ask people on the street if they thought that bringing the industry back under public control was the right move.

00:00Hi I'm Theo with Manchester World, today I'm out on the streets of Manchester asking people about
00:04privatisation and that's because Labour have promised to re-nationalise the railways and
00:08what that means is taking it back under government control. Privatisation has been a big part of the
00:13UK for a long time now and we want to know whether people think any industry has been
00:17improved by privatisation and whether they think that the move to re-nationalise the railways
00:21is a good thing. I don't know, I don't know, it's a complicated issue but I think I'm
00:26leaning towards I'd rather it be national. I think it's always a hard argument for something
00:31that doesn't work well that's currently privatised so with that in mind I think
00:36nationalisation would be a good shout for it, how much do I trust them to do that properly and run
00:40it as a business efficiently is probably equally questionable. I think it would just make rail
00:45travel easier in general you know not just from like a financial standpoint but I just think
00:49across the board it'd be way better if the trains were nationalised. I got the train on Friday I
00:53think it's like £10 from here to Warrington which is just feels like a lot I suppose.
