00:00Crime-stopping and convention-hopping. Here's a look at a new Jack-specific The Simpsons Bartman.
00:20Collect your favorite cartoon characters from The Simpsons TV series with the first wave of The Simpsons 5-inch scale figures featuring basic articulation.
00:27These iconic characters from The Simpsons are sure to please cartoon lovers and collectors alike.
00:32Perhaps like Radioactive Man number one, Bartman is the harder figure to find as he's not even listed on the back of the wave one packaging.
00:39The figure though is still going to stand similar to Bart in the fact that he's going to still be three and a half inches in height or Bartman stands nine centimeters tall.
00:47Speaking of Bart, it was one of the figures we looked at earlier this week. Regular Bart has a neutral expression, Bartman Bart has a scowl on his face.
00:54He also has a cape. He also has a different hand. You may notice already that the Bartman Bart does actually have a closed fist.
01:00The regular Bart had gripping hands. Bringing in the other figures that we've looked at, here's what he looks like with Homer J Simpson.
01:06Here's what he looks like with Otto. And seeing as we did get a release of Bartman, in fact, it was the only Bart we got from Super 7.
01:12I want to bring that one in also as well. There's definitely a big size difference.
01:15And one thing I think also that Super 7 did wrong was the coloring of the cowl and the coloring of the cape.
01:21I guess we'll get this out of the way right now. The figure does come with a skateboard that just happens to be the same skateboard that we got with the regular release.
01:29Could they not have seen an opportunity to deck out the deck of the skateboard just a little bit different than this one so it doesn't have the same matching Christmas colors?
01:36I mean, even the colors of the wheels are exactly the same. If not giving us a different skateboard, at the very least, the plastic I think could have been dedicated towards different accessories.
01:46Maybe a stack of comics. Maybe a signed autograph of Adam West. I don't know.
01:50Because if you're likely picking up Bartman, it's probably because you're picking up the entire Simpsons.
01:54So you're already getting a skateboard with Bart. It just seems sort of redundant that we're getting the exact same accessory again.
02:00The skateboard does, of course, work the exact same way. There's a peg right in the middle here that if you look on the bottom of his feet, there are two peg holes and that just plugs onto the top.
02:09I mean, he stays okay on the skateboard. You want to make sure that you have the figure leaning forward.
02:13If you have him leaning back, it obviously starts to throw the figure off a little bit unbalancing.
02:17One of the things that he does at least come included with that wasn't with the Bart before is a slingshot.
02:23The slingshot is molded here in a brown plastic. You can see that he also has a rock already pulled back to fire.
02:28Unfortunately, though, here's the problem. The figure doesn't have the proper hand to hold this.
02:33I mean, we can already rule out the right of way. The figure does have a closed fist.
02:36So what is that going to hold? Nothing. Nothing. Nothing.
02:41He does have, like I said, though, a gripping hand that on paper should hold things.
02:45Unfortunately, if you try to get the slingshot in his hand, he just can't hold it. You just can't.
02:50You kind of have to just take the top of the Y and just rest it against his hand.
02:56Funny though enough, I'm just going to put this one down here for a second.
02:59I want to bring back in the original Bart.
03:02Bart, I could actually get him to not hold it, but at least hold it better.
03:07It's still a problem, though. I mean, you can see like he holds it just a little bit better.
03:10But a lot of times you sort of have to cheat and you have to have it resting against the shoulder.
03:15I mean, if you're going to include accessories like this, one of two things should have been done.
03:18Either make the handle larger so like it wouldn't matter if the grip was a little bit more relaxed.
03:23You would have been able to hold it or just give him better hands.
03:26Just give him better hands.
03:27Because like I said, just to get this holding in his hands, you just have to rest on it and just hope for the best.
03:33I mean, he's not even really holding it the way that a traditional slingshot should be held.
03:37He's sort of just holding it like he's holding the letter Y.
03:40Anyways, we'll just take that out of his hand and move it to the side.
03:43One of the things I'm sure you probably were curious about as well is could you take the two head sculpts and swap them around?
03:49Say you liked the blue t-shirt, for example, and you want to use it with a regular expression.
03:53Well, you could.
03:54Here's one problem that you're going to be facing.
03:56You can pop the heads off.
03:57They're just working on ball joints or not even ball joints, little peg joints.
04:00If you're looking at them too, you're going to have a harder time getting them back in place because it's sort of like a mushroom peg.
04:05You could technically take the head off and you could do the exact same thing with Bartman and you could swap the heads around.
04:10So like if you wanted to have like this face on this body, you could.
04:14Here's two problems that you can be facing.
04:16I guess you're only going to have really one problem.
04:18The second problem really is getting the head back in place.
04:21You have to kind of twist it.
04:23And when you twist it, there you go.
04:25You have to kind of put it in on an angle.
04:27You have to turn it down and then push pressure against it.
04:29And you're going to leave all these indentations from the top of his hair embedded into your skin.
04:34It does work.
04:35Here's the other problem that you're going to be facing as well is the cape is only loose here.
04:40This sits over top of the mushroom peg.
04:42But if you look at the back of the cape, there is actually a peg.
04:45I'm going to move this back so you guys can see.
04:47There is a slot actually embedded into the plastic.
04:50And then there's a peg on the inside of his cape to ensure that the cape isn't going to go anywhere.
04:55Which only then means if you're going to even consider the idea of removing the heads and replacing them around,
04:59you're still going to be stuck with the idea of him having a cape.
05:01There's no way around that.
05:03From a head sculpt standpoint, obviously, like as I already mentioned,
05:06it's going to be having a different expression than the regular Bart.
05:08The scale works quite well for the idea of him being Bartman.
05:12I will say, too, like the coloring of the cow looks a lot more like it did in the cartoon as I mentioned earlier.
05:16Looking at the one from Super 7, the colors for the Super 7 were way too blue.
05:21This makes a little bit more sense.
05:23It really should be kind of more like this purple color.
05:25And at least as well, the cape does match the colors as well.
05:28Now with the Bartman also as well, he does have now again the blue t-shirt.
05:33He does have the blue shorts.
05:35Whereas the one we got from Super 7 used like orange t-shirt.
05:39Which again really made the argument.
05:41Could they not have just included a regular Bart head?
05:43Because you could have just easily swapped it out.
05:45You could have easily, easily taken the cape off.
05:47And you could have just had a regular Bart.
05:48They didn't do that.
05:50So there is a color though difference between the two t-shirts.
05:52And I'm kind of also glad, too, that they're really using a different t-shirt than just a regular Bart.
05:56So it doesn't simply just is a case that they just gave him a brand new Malibu Stacey hat, so to speak.
06:01And just give him a different head sculpt.
06:03At least they did color the bodies differently.
06:05At least the t-shirt end of things.
06:07Now the articulation obviously is going to be the exact same between the two figures.
06:10I want to show you guys what the cape looks like.
06:12Good hard plastic, too.
06:14And while maybe being a little disappointed that I couldn't swap the heads out.
06:16I think it makes a little bit more sense that the peg is there.
06:19Just so the cape is going to flop around.
06:21Usually is the case where they're going to use bodies like this.
06:23That they just simply put the cape over top of the peg.
06:26And then they put the head on top of it.
06:28And that's the only thing that's kind of holding everything together.
06:30It always usually means that the cape ends up just being a floppy mess.
06:33With at least it plugged in the way that it is.
06:35It ensures that the cape isn't going to go anywhere.
06:37I mean you can't move it.
06:39It's a soft enough plastic though.
06:41Again, I love the colors that they used for this.
06:43Now for the figure's articulation.
06:45It's going to be the exact same as the earlier looked at Bart.
06:47So the head does rotate all the way around on that mushroom peg.
06:50You're not going to get any movement up and down.
06:52Forget about it.
06:53Arms hinge out.
06:54You can rotate them also all the way around as well.
06:56And I know that I did say this earlier.
06:58That this guy is not listed on the back of the packaging.
07:00I just want to grab the packaging.
07:02Show you guys what that looks like.
07:03On the back you can see it has Homer.
07:05It only has Bart, Otto and Willy.
07:07Still got to pick up the Willy there.
07:09So Bart seems to be the chase of this figure set.
07:12Also too, I'm sure you guys are also curious.
07:14Seeing as...
07:15I'm just going to get this guy to stand here for a second.
07:17I'm going to bring also him back in the Bart.
07:20One of the other mentioned accessories.
07:22Well at least in his review.
07:23I did say that that one also came included with Sansa the Little Helper.
07:25If you guys wanted to see what it looked like with Sansa the Little Helper.
07:28Just for the sake of sizing.
07:30I don't think it honestly really works.
07:32I mean he's way too big.
07:33He fits obviously the scale of the Super 7 Bartman.
07:36It doesn't quite work as well when it comes to Jack specific.
07:39He ends up looking kind of like a little tiny miniature horse.
07:42So in case you guys are curious there.
07:44Like I said though, the articulation for Bart is going to be the exact same.
07:47So the head is going to have straight swivel.
07:49Going to get your ball joints going there for the shoulders.
07:51You can't quite rotate them all the way around.
07:53Just because the cape is going to kind of get in the way of things.
07:55Yes, he does still have loose elbows.
07:58That seems to be still an issue that we're facing here with this line.
08:01Swivel at the bicep.
08:02Single hinge on the elbow.
08:04The arm, if you hold it, does rotate there a little bit as well.
08:07And the hands rotate also back and forth.
08:09With a hinge back and forth there too.
08:11Like I said, different hand all together here.
08:13We got the closed fist now.
08:15Dispensing justice I suppose.
08:17He has a waist swivel.
08:18The legs do split out.
08:20You can bring the legs forward and back.
08:21No problems there.
08:22You can also rotate just where the leg attaches to the top of the shorts.
08:26He has a hinge there in his...
08:28I don't want to say his ankle.
08:29In his knee.
08:30You can hinge it back and forth there too.
08:32I almost kind of really feel like they could have just avoided...
08:35Well, maybe not.
08:36Maybe not.
08:37I was going to say maybe they didn't necessarily need to put a hinge joint in his knee.
08:40But I guess if you wanted to,
08:42you would definitely need to use yourself a display stand to pull this off.
08:45He isn't going to be able to really balance.
08:47I kind of did a little bit with Homer Simpson.
08:49Can I get it going here with Bart?
08:50Okay, maybe a little bit.
08:51Yeah, you can.
08:52If you want to get him to balance without the use of a display stand,
08:55you can pull that off.
08:57And I guess this isn't a bad thing that the figures do have knee bends.
09:00Swivel back and forth in the feet.
09:01And as already mentioned,
09:02the figure does have pegs on the bottom of his feet.
09:05Luckily, though, for me,
09:06the guy that was selling the Simpsons Wave 1 figures didn't have a Wheatley.
09:09Unfortunately, he didn't have a Wheatley.
09:11But what he did, though, have was the Bartman.
09:13So when I picked up the Homer and I picked up the Otto...
09:16Actually, you know what?
09:17Let's just bring them all in right now.
09:19When I picked up these figures...
09:21I'm getting him to stand.
09:23And, of course, when I did pick up Bart,
09:25he happened to also say to...
09:27I mean, obviously, he was upselling me on all this.
09:29He also said to,
09:30Well, I have a Bartman.
09:31Would you be interested in a Bartman?
09:32And I said,
09:33Heck, yeah.
09:34That may have been literally the verbatim of the way I responded to it.
09:37So, you know, while I did get these ones,
09:39I ended up getting this one also as well.
09:41When it was all said and done,
09:42I think I probably paid around $30 for them,
09:44which, you know, to look at online listings of what these Jack-specific figures,
09:47whether you are lucky enough to find these or not,
09:49on average, I think most online sites are listing them at $18.
09:53You do a little bit of conversion.
09:54You throw in the shipping charge and all that.
09:56It probably works out to be...
09:57Yeah, probably works out to be about a $30 figure.
09:59You know, for what they are, I'm liking this line.
10:02I like them from the affordability standpoint.
10:05I mean, obviously, if you're comparing them with the stuff that we're getting for Super 7,
10:08Super 7 threw a lot more in there when it came to the accessory count.
10:11They threw in a lot more references.
10:13So with their version of Bartman,
10:14we got a couple of ripped-up versions of, obviously, the Radioactive Man No. 1.
10:19We also got ourselves a Sans Little Helper.
10:21I don't know.
10:22Sans Little Helper is part of the Simpsons family 2 1⁄2-inch scale size.
10:27There's actually a family box that I still want to get my hands on.
10:29I've seen it at a couple of comic book stores.
10:31Not for a bad price, really, at all.
10:33Yeah, well, Super 7, I think, may have handled it better from the standpoint of the accessories
10:37and kind of being a little bit more kind of deep cuts for references to things that we saw in the episodes.
10:42I mean, from a cost standpoint,
10:44I mean, it's really hard to kind of start shelling out $80 to $100 per figure.
10:48These ones are a little smaller in size.
10:50I guess they have somewhat of the same levels of articulation, really,
10:54when you consider the only thing that's missing is the ball joints in their heads.
10:58But for, again, a $30 figure line,
11:00I think that's a much easier thing for your wallet to swallow than trying to pay, again, like $80 to $100.
11:05Bartman does, again, use a lot of the same elements as to be expected as the regular release Bart,
11:10and that's not a bad thing at all.
11:11At least, if anything, his cowl and his cape match a little bit more to the cartoon colors.
11:15The same can't be said for Super 7's release of him.
11:18You know, this isn't the first time a Bart hasn't been listed on the back of a Jack-specific Simpsons packaging.
11:23There has been, as well, a 2.5-inch version 2 Bart Simpson that had the closed eye.
11:28It was a variation to the original regular release that we looked at here on this channel.
11:31Coincidentally, also enough that both this one and the other Bart that both aren't listed on the back of the packaging
11:37happen to share the exact same accessory, a slingshot.
11:41Strange? It's probably not strange at all.
11:44But it's kind of interesting the fact that both Barts not listed on the back of the packaging happen to share the same accessory.
11:49I would also be surprised if I didn't find out that the slingshot, because I didn't pick up that other version of Bart,
11:54isn't, in fact, the exact same size.
11:56There's got to be reasons why the slingshot just doesn't fit into his hand.
11:59The skateboard does.
12:01Speaking of skateboards, though, I do think that this could have been an opportunity that Jack could have saw
12:05where a skateboard of a different deco could have been included.
12:08Or, hey, why not just scrap the whole idea of using a skateboard and just not just release this guy with a slingshot
12:13and maybe just a stack of comics or one comic, Radioactive Man No. 1.
12:18What do you guys think of this figure? Let me know down below in the comments section.
12:20Do you kind of feel, again, like it was unnecessary for Jack to include a skateboard
12:24when already the regular release Bart had the exact same...
12:27Not just a skateboard. It had the exact same one.
12:30Also, if you guys are interested, I think these are mostly showing up in Target stores.
12:34You guys can correct me if I'm wrong down below in the comments section.
12:37I can certainly tell you, though, as a Canadian collector, I'm not finding these at all.
12:41Check Toys R Us, nothing. I checked local Walmarts, squat.
12:45The only place and the continued place where I seem just to have any bit of luck finding these
12:50is on the Facebook selling group, to which I usually tend to pay about $30 to $40 a figure.
12:54I don't mind paying a little bit more extra for the 5-inch figures
12:57because at least they pack a little bit more posability.
13:00But they got a definitely... I mean, I could wait it out, honestly, until the third quarter of 2024,
13:04which is coming up really fast.
13:06Big Bad Toy Store, Entertainment Earth, all sort of listing theirs as around an October release.
13:11I've already put in the pre-order for the Krusty the Clown and the Moe's Phone over on Entertainment Earth.
13:17But again, they're not showing to start shipping those till September.
13:21Well, we're in September right now, so they could be shipping them soon.
13:24Or it may mean I have to wait till the very end of the month.
13:27Either way, I'm already telling you guys, we will be looking at Evil Krusty the Clown
13:30and we also will be looking at Moe's Tavern's Phone
13:34whenever they eventually do ship these.
13:36Have you guys been finding any of these? Let me know down below in the comment section.
13:39In the meantime, if you guys did enjoy this video, do it a solid, throw it a like.
13:43Thank you. If you guys want to stick around for more so though, I hope so.
13:47Hit the subscribe, turn on the bell, and of course, come back.
13:50As always, thanks for watching. See you guys next time.
