00:06who want to show their new ideas and make a positive change in our society.

00:12This is the Socially Relevant Technology Project.

00:16And to give us more details about the competition,

00:20we will now talk to the IT Rights Specialist III of the Intellectual Property of the Philippines,

00:26Engineer Maricon Zabala.

00:37Can you explain what this Socially Relevant Technology Project is and what is its main goal?

00:45Yes. The Socially Relevant Technologies or SRT Project

00:50is an initiative of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines

00:54or IPOFIL, which aims to encourage Filipino innovators

00:59to develop innovative technologies that have a positive impact on society.

01:05The main goal of this project is to promote the use of green technologies

01:10or environmentally sound technologies that can help our environment

01:16and make it easier for Filipinos to live.

01:19According to United Nations Agenda 21, environmentally sound technologies

01:25are the technologies that protect the environment, are less polluting,

01:30use all resources in a more sustainable manner,

01:33recycle more of their waste and products,

01:36and handle residual waste in a more acceptable manner

01:40than the technologies for which they were substituted.

01:44So, through this project, we want to strengthen the contribution of Filipinos

01:49in solving local and national issues through innovative solutions.

01:54Another goal of the SRT Project is to promote the use of patent information

02:00so that we can find solutions in patent databases that we can adapt

02:06because it may not be protected here in the Philippines by foreign inventors.

02:12Alright, ma'am. Who are the participants in this competition?

02:17And what are the categories or what are the needs in each category here?

02:24Yes, the SRT Innovation Contest is open to all Filipino innovators,

02:29especially our young people whose focus is on the problem of SRT every year.

02:35So this year, our team is Innovative Solutions for a Sustainable Future.

02:41Transforming Agriculture through AI-Driven Green Technologies.

02:46So we have two categories, youth and professional.

02:52And because our focus is on green technologies or technologies

02:58that are socially relevant and can help the environment,

03:03and the entries should be innovative and have commercial potential.

03:11Every participant needs to present the clear benefits of their invention

03:17for the environment and society.

03:20There are also required documents such as the Group of Ownership of Technology

03:25and the 5-minute video that will explain the solution offered by their technologies

03:31that needs to be submitted.

03:33The integration of sustainability, agriculture, and at the same time, AI is very timely.

03:40Anyway, Engineer, what are the benefits that can be obtained by the participants of the SRT competition,

03:47especially for the youth and the professionals, the yuppies or young professionals as well?

03:55For the youth and professionals, aside from the chance to showcase their ideas and technology,

04:05they can also get exposure from investors and potential business partners

04:10who are interested in their projects.

04:12The SRT will also provide mentorship and training

04:16to enhance their knowledge in technology and entrepreneurship.

04:20Aside from this, there are cash prizes and support for the commercialization of their products.
