00:00Simon Epa, the Prime Minister of Biafra government in exile, has reacted to the alleged arrest
00:06of the founder of Sahara Reporters News Media, Omoyele Shouwere, by the personnel of Nigeria
00:11Immigration Service, means at the international airport in Lagos state shortly after the publisher
00:16arrived the country from the United States of America, USA on Sunday.
00:21Simon Epa who reacted with some emojis, tweeted thus, as usual, the cry cry don't start.
00:29Shouwere in an earlier tweet on Sunday posted alongside a photograph had alleged that the
00:34men of the Nigeria Immigration Service arrested him and seized his international passport.
00:40He tweeted as reported verbatim thus, detained by the Nigerian Immigration, my international
00:47passport confiscated.
00:49I had just arrived in Nigeria from the USA to the MMIA in Lagos, upon reaching Nigerian
00:56immigration, my passport was seized, and they told me they had orders to detain me.
01:02This is not unexpected because I have always known that it is part of the broader plumbed
01:07down by the fascist volatile regime on dissent and their fear of the upcoming fearless in
01:12October revolt.
01:14In case this becomes another prolonged and protracted detention, I urge our citizens
01:19to ensure the all-stop tyranny by all means acceptable and necessary, by engaging in the
01:25planned series of direct actions slated for October 1st and beyond.
01:30End that governessy Nigeria no, revolution no, Shouwere stated.
01:35However, the activists returned to the handling moment later to announce his release by the
01:40immigration and that his international passport was also returned to him.
01:45I have just been released by the Nigerian immigration after a brief detention and my
01:51passport released back to me.
01:53Shouwere had earlier via his verified Facebook page on Saturday, disclosed that the Nigerian
01:59security forces tracked him down to his hometown in Ondo State.
02:04He alleged that the security agencies were plotting to frame him as guilty of bogus offences.
02:10He had said on Facebook that, yeah, all around in my hometown, they are trying to track me
02:17down, yeah.
02:19They say they want to bring me in guilty.
02:21However, Babylon must fall.
02:24Meanwhile, the African Action Congress, AAC, has condemned what the political party termed
02:30as harassment of their national leader, Omoyele Shouwere, and warned against further intimidation
02:36of the publisher of Sahara Reporter's news media.
02:39AAC, in a statement signed and made available by its national publicity secretary, Femi
02:46Adeye, stated that, The African Action Congress, AAC, vehemently condemns the unwarranted arrest
02:52and harassment of our national leader, Comrade Omoyele Shouwere, earlier today.
02:58This blatant act of intimidation is a reminder of the volatile regime's growing intolerance
03:03for dissenting voices.
03:05Arriving the country, our leader was arrested by immigration officers on the orders of the
03:11State Security Service, SSS, who had plans to detain and ferry him to Abuja, as was revealed
03:17by a leaked memo from the headquarters of the service.
03:21We demand that the regime channel its energy and resources of the country towards addressing
03:26the crippling economic hardship inflicted upon Nigerians by its detrimental policies,
03:31rather than silencing opposition voices.
03:35The AAC will not stand idly while our leaders are targeted for speaking truth to power.
03:41We are on high alert and will vigorously resist any further arrests or intimidation attempts.
03:47We demand an immediate end to this harassment and a commitment to upholding democratic principles
03:53and fundamental human rights.
03:56We also demand again the unconditional release of all protesters in detention.
04:01The AAC reiterates its unwavering dedication to advocating for the rights and welfare of
04:07the Nigerian people, even in the face of adversity.
