00:00Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle all the way
00:05Oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh
00:09Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle all the way
00:13Oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh
00:18Welcome one and all to the little story shop
00:22A magic place of stories and toys for girls and boys
00:27Let's go inside now and meet Mr. and Mrs. Little
00:36And here they are, Mr. and Mrs. Little
00:39The children of the town love to come in and listen to their stories and see the toys
00:44Maybe we'll hear a story now
00:46Do you hear the carolers, Mr. Little? What does that remind you of?
00:52Yes, my dear, I hear the carolers
00:55They remind me of a Christmas some time ago
00:59Tell us all about it, Mr. Little
01:01I believe it would be best if Mrs. Little told this story
01:06I seldom talk about myself
01:09Well, not very often anyway
01:12All right, sir, I'll tell it
01:14There's a lot to learning this story about Mr. Little, children
01:19So listen
01:20This story takes us back several years ago
01:24To another time just before Christmas
01:28And, as always, the boys were singing in the street
01:33But things were a little different then
01:36You see, Mr. Little wasn't always the friendly, pleasant gentleman he is today
01:42In fact, he was rough, gruff, and just a little difficult to get along with
01:49Why, he didn't even like the music
01:52In fact, I don't think he liked anyone
01:55Which is not a very good way for a toy maker to be
01:59Why don't they stop that infernal singing?
02:03Well, I frankly didn't know what to do
02:06We were so awfully busy with Christmas so near
02:10And I knew that Mr. Little was afraid he couldn't get all the toys made
02:15I'd give anything for some good help
02:18Did you say anything?
02:20At first, we didn't know who on earth said that
02:24We looked all over and then we saw him
02:29What a strange little fellow he was
02:32Where he came from, who he was
02:35What he wanted, we had no idea
02:39But he certainly was there
02:42Well now, did you say you'd give anything for some good help?
02:46Well, yes, I guess I did say that
02:49Good! Then I'm going to work for you
02:51And when I'm through, you'll give me anything I want in the store
02:54Yes, certainly, certainly
02:57But what could you do?
02:59You just watch me! Just watch me!
03:05My, my, you should have seen that little fellow go to work
03:10Nasty! He worked so fast
03:13Why, we could hardly keep up with him
03:16And night and day he worked away
03:19Doing this and that and everything
03:23He stopped only for two things
03:26To eat a little bread now and then
03:29And to listen to the carolers
03:47And one day, as he was listening to the choir
03:51A little girl came up to our window
03:54He could tell that she wanted something inside
03:58We didn't know what the two were so interested in
04:02But they seemed to get along famously
04:05And one day, as he was listening to the carolers
04:09A little girl came up to our window
04:13But they seemed to get along famously
04:16And they became fast friends
04:18For every day she returned when the carolers were there
04:23And every day the elf talked to her
04:28And on we were
04:30And never before had we made so many toys
04:34And had such good business
04:37But wouldn't you know that Mr. Little got worried
04:41Because everything was going so well
04:44He was worried about what he would have to say
04:47Our little elf friend for all his work
04:50After all, he had promised him anything
04:57Oh, maybe he'll take all our profits
05:01Well, you can see that Mr. Little was really worried
05:06In those days, he was quite a worrisome person
05:10But everything seemed to go on smoothly
05:14The elves worked harder than ever
05:18And the carolers came every day with their songs
05:23And the little girl came to stare in the window
05:29When will the ever-circling years
05:35Shall come upon our home
05:41When our new heaven and earth shall own
05:48The Prince of Easter King
05:55When all the world send back the song
06:01Which now the angels sing
06:13And finally, Christmas Eve came
06:16And what a day that was
06:19We sold just about everything in the shop
06:22And our tireless little friend
06:24Had helped us every minute
06:27While we were sitting there
06:29Talking about our good fortune
06:32We had a visitor outside our window
06:35We didn't see her
06:37But you can bet our friend the elf did
06:40And suddenly
06:41I want my pay
06:43Well, you can imagine how this startled Mr. Little
06:48He finally managed to mutter
06:50Certainly, what would you like?
06:53You said I could have anything in the shop
06:56So I want the big doll in the window
06:59The doll?
07:00Yes, of course, the doll
07:04She is yours
07:07I was just a little surprised too
07:11And I could hardly believe my eyes
07:14As Mr. Little gave him the doll
07:17And the funny little fellow stood there
07:20With that big beautiful toy in his arms
07:23So, my friends, I've been well paid
07:27Thank you and Merry Christmas
07:31We were both speechless to say the least
07:35And before we knew it
07:37The little elf was gone
07:40This I cannot believe
07:43He worked so hard
07:45And for only a doll
07:48I do not understand
07:51I must follow him to see what he does with it
07:55And that's exactly what Mr. Little did
07:59Follow that little man out into the street
08:04Noël, Noël
08:08Noël, Noël
08:13Noël, Noël
08:18Noël, Noël
08:29And when Mr. Little came inside the church
08:32He saw what the elf was going to do with the doll
08:37He was going to give it to the little girl
08:41And when she saw the beautiful doll
08:44She could hardly believe her eyes
08:47Here was just what she'd always wanted
08:51She couldn't speak
08:53But the elf knew this would be her happiest Christmas
09:00Noël, Noël
09:04Noël, Noël
09:09Noël, Noël
09:21And all at once
09:23Mr. Little was beginning to find out something new about Christmas
09:28Like so many others
09:30He was terribly busy with the buying and selling
09:33Building and wrapping, working and planning
09:36For this busy time of year
09:38That he had forgotten
09:40About some of the other things of Christmas
09:43Like giving
09:45And thinking of the happiness of others
09:48And thinking too
09:50About the real meaning of Christmas
09:53He never found the little elf again
09:57But Mr. Little found Christmas
10:00Joy to the world, the Lord is come
10:05Let earth receive her King
10:10Let every heart prepare Him room
10:15And heaven and nature sing
10:18And heaven and nature sing
10:20And heaven and nature sing
10:26Yes, Mr. Little was a new man after that night
10:31He came out of the church with a wonderful feeling of joy and peace
10:36As he walked along the street
10:38He thought of the many things he would do to help make people happy
10:43Not only on Christmas
10:45But every day of the year
10:48And when he came home
10:50He couldn't hold it back any longer
10:54Merry Christmas
10:56Merry Christmas
10:58To everyone
11:06And so you see
11:08That's what Mr. Little thinks about
11:11Whenever he hears the carolers in the street
11:14Yes, children
11:16They taught me that there's a great deal more to Christmas
11:20Than selling toys
11:22And I've never forgotten it
11:24And don't you forget it either
11:28And that, children, is the story of the Elf and Mr. Little
11:35Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle all the way
11:39Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh
11:44Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle all the way
11:48Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh
