00:00Today we are in People VIP with the Ecuadorian model and driver, Virginia Limon. Greetings, Virginia.
00:12Thank you, Kika, and thank you very much for having me in your space. I am extremely happy to talk to you about everything a little bit and that you know me, obviously.
00:21Of course, and we already know that you work in the Ecuadorian program En Contacto, but you also have a long career in the world of misses. Tell me why.
00:35I mean, Kika, I'm going to be extremely honest with you. I started in the world of misses because of my dad. He had this dream because his mom, my grandmother, wanted to be a queen and her grandfather never let her.
00:49So, I am the first daughter of my dad and he always dreamed that I was a miss. He put me in all the beauty contests that you have imagined. There I was.
01:02Here in Ecuador, we used to say that it was like rice with chicken. I was everywhere until the start of Ecuador, which was like my last contest, really.
01:14And for that, I had already abandoned the idea of being a miss and I dedicated myself 100% to being a model. I was living in the Philippines, happy, happy, I wanted to continue traveling.
01:26And my dad told me, no girl, you come back, you compete and then do whatever you want. And I told him, no, daddy, I don't have money, better not.
01:36And he told me, no, I'll pay for your registration and you take care of the rest. After he called me, because at that time there was no WhatsApp to be able to talk.
01:46He put a recharge, he called me to the Philippines and he told me, my queen, you have to get involved because that is the only way you will be able to understand with empathy what other people go through outside of your bubble of privileges.
02:02And so you start to value what you have, start to be more empathetic, start to make sense of your life.
02:09And I said, no, this man just wants me to wear the crown to show off. It was part of it, but he was the one who told me, come on. And my mom told me, no, no, no, maybe not.
02:21But that's how it started.
02:24Well, that's how this whole story started. But also during all these reigns, well, they had their consequences.
02:31I mean, in your health, talking about health, not only physical, but also mental. And you have always been very open to that, touching on this topic, perhaps as a lesson for other people, as inspiration.
02:45So we would like to know how this experience was and how you feel you have managed to help other people.
02:55I have been an extremely family woman and I am the first woman of eight siblings. And then my sisters come. Before looking outside, you have to look inside.
03:08What kind of example are you giving within your family? My mom does it and in this case I do it as the older sister.
03:15When I started in the world of the Reignados, perhaps the social part, the social networks were not as active as they are now. But there was a lot of criticism, many points of view found.
03:29That perhaps they did not go with the person I was still molding. And many of them hurt me. Those who were there for me were my family, my sister, who told me, hey, you are not that.
03:43And then I remembered that I was the older sister and that I had to stand up to be the best example for them.
03:52And to understand that it does not matter that you are different or that perhaps you do not like everyone, you are who you are.
03:59And at the same time, when social networks are already activated, realizing that I was creating a community where I had to be real, where I had to understand and be the example of many people with the space I had.
04:14To say, ok, yes, I am in a beauty contest, I won the crown and the belt, but I am much more than, as they say colloquially, a beautiful face and a sculptural body.
04:25I am a woman who has a sense of humanity, who wants to leave a different footprint and that is why I think it characterized me a lot that I was very authentic, very spontaneous.
04:39That I did not care to walk on the street without shoes, if it was to hug someone. And that all these little examples were landing a little on the idea that not because you are Miss, you are someone unattainable, you are a person just like the rest.
04:54I also want to say that the mental part did play an important role because you listen to many people and you have a lot of pressure to be perfect.
05:04And as much as one says to oneself, I am not perfect, I have to be an example, that sooner or later you get a bill, I do recommend a lot to all those who are going to enter the contest,
05:17those who left or those who want to put themselves in the public eye, to have the support of a specialist to be able to manage your emotions and comments from other people and you not being able to get lost in all this area.
05:32That's right, my child. Well, speaking of this year, we are already close, close to November 16, this is as they say in the final stretch. Have you seen the girls? Do you like any in particular? What do you think?
05:45I have not seen almost anything, I tell you because I have been, thank God, full with work, but obviously I have to show my chest. I have to show my chest for my girls, for Mara Topi who represents Ecuador.
05:59I take my hat off to her, I met her a long time ago and what better way, I told everyone, what better way to enhance Ecuador as a queen of beauty,
06:09a woman who in her short time having the crown, referring to Mamara, has been able to exploit it to other levels. She was in Paris, in New York Fashion Week, that is, she is making a story, creating a path for the next Miss Ecuador to have the same visibility,
06:26also have a chance for the crown and I have faith, I have faith that either she comes with us or low, low, top 5.
