00:00Hello it's Martin Dempster the Scotsman Golf Correspondent here coming to you from Wentworth
00:07Club in Surrey at the conclusion of the BMW PGA Championship, the third Rolex Series event
00:17of the season on the DP World Tour. Quite a finish we had here on a day when we were
00:23worried that the weather might impact the play and maybe not even get finished the final round.
00:30However there was the odd shower, the course had been softened by heavy rain in the early hours
00:38this morning but we did indeed get the play finished and for the second time in three years
00:46the winner here was American Billy Horschel. He beat Rory McIlroy another former winner and
00:55South African Thriston Lawrence in a playoff after the trio had finished with 20 under par
01:02totals. McIlroy had come to the last hole in regulation play needing a birdie to repeat his
01:102014 win here however his second shot wasn't the best he was unable to get that birdie so had to
01:19settle for a place in a playoff. Lawrence went out with the first extra hole then both McIlroy and
01:27Horschel were running two at the par 5 18th at the second playoff hole. McIlroy from 30 feet went
01:35first just missed his eagle putt and he probably knew what was coming next. He's had some sore
01:40finishes recently in the US Open at Pinehurst early in the year and then last week in the
01:46Irish Open where he had to finish runner up on both occasions and indeed the same thing happened
01:54here as Horschel holed his eagle putt. Bob McIntyre he finished joint 12th his best finish
02:05in six appearances here at Wentworth. Still a little bit frustrated about his short irons and
02:11his wedge play and needs to sharpen them up going into the Dunhill links the week after next
02:18where Horschel will be in the field, McIlroy as well and live golf players Brooks Koepka,
02:25John Rahm and others. Keep up to date with everything in the golf world
02:30by logging on to Scotsman.com or buying the Scotsman.
