Transcript
00:00 Hello, it's Martin Dempster, the Scotsman Golf Correspondent here, coming to you from Dubai Marina
00:07 at the end of the DP World Tour Championship up at Jamira Golf Estates,
00:16 the final event of the 2023 DP World Tour season,
00:22 and produced a fantastic winner in young Dane, Nikolaj Hojard.
00:30 He closed with a brilliant 64, which included five birdies in the last six holes,
00:35 to win by two shots from two of his Ryder Cup teammates,
00:39 Tommy Fleetwood and Victor Hovland, and also the overnight leader, Matt Wallace.
00:44 Hojard is the first Dane to win the title,
00:48 and in picking up a check for a whopping $3 million,
00:53 he finished the season in second place behind Rory McIlroy in the race to Dubai.
00:59 Ewan Ferguson, he claimed a top ten finish,
01:03 brilliant performance by the Dubai-based Scot.
01:07 He's grown in stature all the time,
01:10 and I think we're going to see some big things from Ewan in 2024.
01:15 Bob McIntyre was a bit disappointed with his closing effort.
01:19 He just finished inside the top 20,
01:22 but on the upside, Bob, it was mission accomplished for him
01:25 in terms of securing one of the ten PGA Tour cards on offer next season.
01:31 They also went to, among others, Edinburgh-based Frenchman Victor Perez
01:36 and Pole Adrian Marronc, who finished first on that list,
01:41 and in doing so, he'll get a spot in the Players' Championship at Sawgrass next year.
01:46 It's been a great season on the DP World Tour.
01:49 This event is always a fitting finale,
01:52 and some of the players are not exactly getting a chance to catch their breath,
01:58 because the 2024 campaign starts on Thursday in both South Africa and Australia,
02:05 and in Australia, Bob McIntyre, Grant Forrest, Connor Syme,
02:09 and also Callum Hill, they're heading down there for a doubleheader
02:13 while some of the other Scots are in action in South Africa.
