00:00Within the Lions, what you liked, what you didn't like,
00:03you guys can call in all hour, 248-539-9797.
00:06TJ, let's start with you.
00:07What'd you like?
00:08What didn't you like?
00:09I liked getting back to who you are
00:12and your identity and the toughness
00:13and dominating at the line of scrimmage
00:15and the 188 rushing yards.
00:20Would've been more if you didn't take some kneels
00:22at the end, but.
00:23How much did you like, sorry to interrupt,
00:26carrying David Montgomery, the offensive lineman,
00:29kicking his feet, he's not even touching the ground.
00:30You had to love that.
00:31There was a couple plays,
00:33I think back-to-back plays where they were shoving
00:36for an extra three, four, five,
00:37that play maybe six, seven yards.
00:40That's good stuff, and I've coached Dan Miller well
00:43because all the announcers, oh, look at Montgomery
00:46churning his feet and carrying five guys.
00:48It's like, dude, look at the offensive line
00:49coming behind him and shoving him, all right?
00:51There's a big five, eight.
00:52Give the big guys the credit, what are we doing here?
00:54But that was just a toughness play, right?
00:57We're gonna get two, three,
00:58and then everybody gets in there, right?
01:00I'm in rock kind of circles,
01:02back around and start shoving.
01:03That was, Lomas and I, we got pretty excited
01:07in the booth when we saw that.
01:08That's just, that's such a good play.
01:10It's a demoralizing, it can be a demoralizing play.
01:12When you've got four guys on defense
01:15and you're just shoving them, right?
01:16And you're just four, five, six yards.
01:19Happened, I don't wanna get sidetracked,
01:22it happened yesterday, I don't know if you saw the Colts,
01:24one of the Colts touchdowns where the entire offense
01:27was just shoving him around,
01:28but it's a demoralizing play.
01:30And offense, man, that's just kind of establishing
01:35dominance, I think, at times.
01:36Now, one of these ended up in a touchdown,
01:38so that maybe is the deciding factor,
01:40but which one was more fun?
01:42David Montgomery for six yards
01:45with feet not even touching the ground
01:47or the hook and ladder?
01:49Well, the hook and ladder was more exciting, I think.
01:53You know, the David Montgomery play,
01:55you look at and you say, okay.
01:56Who was exciting, which one was more fun?
01:59Well, for who?
02:01For the offensive lineman or for us?
02:01I'm asking an offensive lineman, and I wanna know.
02:05I think more fun is any time you score a touchdown.
02:07Okay, that's a great answer.
02:08Then you go to the sideline and you get some water, man.
02:10You know what I mean?
02:12You're shoving a guy for six yards,
02:13you still gotta live to play second and two.
02:14It's like you're even more tired.
02:16Yeah, you score a touchdown, you're like,
02:17dude, I get to go to the sideline, man.
02:19No yellow flags, I'm done.
02:21Yeah, so any time you score,
02:22that one's always a little bit more fun,
02:23but that was, what a play call, man.
02:25That was sweet.
02:27And defense.
02:28Defense was incredible.
02:29We gotta start talking about the defense
02:30as much as we fixate on the offense
02:33and not scoring any points in the second half.
02:35TJ, this defense, again,
02:37three straight weeks has carried this team.
02:40Yeah, that's fair.
02:41You know what I mean?
02:42Like, that was the big question is,
02:43could they catch up to the offense?
02:44And the story of that game was,
02:47Arizona, one of 11 on third and fourth down.
02:49No deep passing, no running, nothing.
02:52I don't know about you guys,
02:53but I started getting nervous there in the second half
02:55when the offense kept punting and punting and punting.
02:58And I'm like, okay, I hate putting this much pressure
03:00and asking the defense to go out there,
03:01get another stop, get another stop, get another stop.
03:03But yeah, I mean, I think we can all agree
03:07that the offense looked really good in the first half
03:10and then stumbled in the second half
03:12and certainly has been kind of the MO
03:15the last first three games, at least.
03:16The offense is looking really good at times,
03:19but probably not hitting their full potential yet, right?
03:21Probably yesterday, I'd say maybe a B-minus,
03:24C-plus performance from the offense in the second half.
03:28The run game was good, don't get me wrong.
03:29Jared Goff was better.
03:31I think the one interception, yeah,
03:32dropped the defensive end, never saw him.
03:34Not making excuses, but he looked like he was
03:38getting more decisive, right?
03:39So you saw improvement, but for their standard,
03:43I think they're probably not going in today feeling,
03:46oh yeah, man, we're feeling great about ourselves,
03:48we're clicking on all cylinders.
03:50They still got a lot of work to do,
03:51but it is good to see some improvements week to week, right?
03:54Last week, everybody talking about the red zone
03:57and how pathetic it was, one for seven.
04:01You know, you go out yesterday and you're two for two,
04:02really three for three,
04:03because the other one was a 21 yarder.
04:05So, you know, you like to see improvements there.
04:07You like to see improvements on the defense, right?
04:11When's the last time, you know,
04:12we faced a mobile quarterback like that
04:14and held him under a hundred yards.
04:17You know what I'm saying?
04:17It seemed like every running quarterback
04:21we've played in the last three years
04:23goes for a bill on us.
04:24Yeah, triple digits, yep.
04:25Yeah, and then the run defense,
04:27I mean, you hold Arizona's running backs
04:30to 13 carries and like 32 yards.
04:33That's not a flash in the pan, that's real.
04:35And that's who they've been for a long time.
04:37So I think the offense, you're going in there today
04:40feeling, you know what, we didn't play our best.
04:43We certainly stumbled a little bit in the second half,
04:45but you have to have a lot of confidence
04:48with the way your defense is playing, right?
04:50I know I certainly do.
04:51I'm sure all the fans do.
04:53It just feels, it feels different.
04:55And it feels like the secondary.
04:57I know Terry Arnold's kind of getting picked on still
04:59with some of the physical coverage plays.
05:02But he played better as the game went on.
05:04He did play better.
05:05And there was really, I mean,
05:06I don't remember seeing any wide receivers
05:08running wide open.
05:09It was sticky man coverage.
05:10They trusted those guys.
05:11They just kept saying, you know what,
05:13we're up two scores,
05:14but we're going to keep doing what we're doing.
05:16We're going to pressure a little bit.
05:17We're going to put, you know,
05:18Terry and Arnold and Carlton Davis,
05:19you guys are one-on-one, right?
05:21You got to go out there and win.
05:22And they won a lot more than Arizona did.
05:26And that was, that was very encouraging from my view.
05:29I thought Carlton Davis had a big day too.
05:30Especially in the run game.
05:32Yeah, the run game coming up.
05:33Just that one P.I. in the fourth quarter there.
05:38I don't think it was fourth,
05:38but it was one where they both were grabbing
05:40and he was, yeah, it was P.I.
05:41because he was grabbing them.
05:42He just had them poked a little bit.
05:44He probably didn't need to on Marvin Harrison,
05:46but the big stop on, you know,
05:47he had a really nice tackle on a second down.
05:49And then a couple of plays later,
05:50the fourth down, getting Kyler Murray down.
05:52So defense looked really, really good.
05:56What'd you like?
05:57What didn't you like?
