00:05This is the so-called imposter Maya, the Eurasian Green Sparrow.
00:09The bird is almost seen everywhere, in the city or in the province.
00:12But even though it spread throughout the country, it is not native to the Philippines.
00:16It is not yet clear how it came to us, but it is believed to have been brought by
00:21banyagang-mananakop or possibly naligao, from its natural habitat.
00:25But if you are wondering why it became a national bird

00:30that is because the national bird that Maya refers to is the Mayang Pula or Chestnut Muña.

00:37You should know that there is no study that says that the Eurasian Green Sparrow is an invasive species.
