00:00Hi I'm Kit Connor and I'm Joe Locke and this is the GQ friendship quiz. I'll start, what is our
00:05favorite thing to do together? Our favorite thing to do together, Joe? Oh god, I don't think I know.
00:13Gossip. Probably, not gossip, not gossip. How about watch X Factor fail videos? Yeah we love
00:23doing that, I'll give you that one. Kit what was our first conversation about? This is documented,
00:29our first conversation was on Zoom. Oh it was. We were just saying hi and then we did a scene
00:37of Heartstopper. I suppose our first real conversation was in Windsor at your final
00:42audition. Yeah. You came in halfway through the day, everyone else left, you showed up.
00:48Yep. It was very exciting. You've got them all right so far. What was my first job ever?
00:54You worked in a toy shop. That's correct. Yes. And I hated it. If I had to wear one outfit for
01:03the rest of my life what would it be? A denim Dior jacket and a cap with that says Marvel on it.
01:09Yeah. And oh what's it called? Some of those trousers. Describe it. It's like affordable
01:16but really nice. I think this is a point, some black trousers. Yeah, black trousers,
01:20yeah there you go, that's the point. Yeah. I didn't even answer to that and you got it really
01:23right. What is the name of my hometown? Douglas? Yeah. Okay. What was my favorite subject in
01:29school? Politics. Yeah. Who is my favorite musical artist at the moment? Adele. Not the moment.
01:37I don't know. Who is it? Chapel Rowan I'd say. Okay. Pink Pony Club is my favorite.
01:43So basic. What is something I say all the time? Oh, I'm not doing that.
01:49That's it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right. I'm not doing that. Oh, what's my favorite curse word?
01:55Correct. I mean, why ask a question like that guys? Come on. What's my favorite Adele song?
02:06You won't get this. Rolling in the Deep. No. Daydreamer. What has been my biggest pinch me
02:13moment? Pinch me, whatever. And the whole time you've been when you debuted on Broadway.
02:24What's up there? Yeah, I'll give that to you. There's been quite a few pinch moments in the
02:28last few years, which has been nice. That, doing Broadway, getting the Marvel job, getting Heart
02:33Stopper, Heart Stopper coming out was also one. We've had a load, I feel like. What's my favorite
02:38thing to bake? Cakes? No. Biscuits. You like biscuits. Brownies. Okay. He was actually on
02:45Great British Bake Off, celebrity version. He was. Because he's a celebrity. I didn't do that well,
02:49actually. You know, I take so much time when I bake and then they give you pressure. They also
02:54give you less time than they should. That's, especially in the celebrity one, because they
02:58want to make good TV. And good TV means bad baking. Face only a mother could love. And they
03:02kept trying to say funny things and I was like, no, I'm focusing on the baking. Anyway, what's my
03:08hidden talent? I've got a few. Yeah. Wouldn't you like to know? Yeah, wouldn't I like to know?
03:12All of your talents are very, very loudly in people's faces. That's true. There is one I'm
03:17thinking of, though. That I know. It's not a talent. I guess it's a talent. It's a skill.
03:22One skill that you do have is never losing an argument. That is a great skill. Whether you're
03:26right or wrong, never lose an argument. I'm never wrong. I've never lost an argument to him.
03:31I think you've never won an argument to me. Yeah, I've never won an argument to him. See, another argument he just lost.
03:34My hidden talent is that I can do the Rubik's Cube in less than a minute. What? Did you not know that?
03:39I've never seen you with a Rubik's Cube in your hand ever. Well, I can. Blimey. Someone at school
03:44told me I wouldn't be able to do it, so I went home and taught myself how to do it. What did I say?
03:49What did I say? And I'm already helping myself here. What did I want to be when I grew up? Either a
03:56U.S. political affairs correspondent or an actor. That is very specific. He's talking all the time,
04:01and I picked some of it up. And finally, what's my comfort movie? That's a good one. Three. I'm
04:09thinking three. One you definitely have seen. We've watched it together. Oh. Oh. You do really
04:15like Call Me By Your Name, don't you? No. You don't? No, I've only ever watched it once. Three
04:20are Hot Fuzz. Hot Fuzz? That's one of my comfort films. I think it's great. I will watch it. I've
04:24watched it like four times already this year. What the fuck? No, it isn't. Yeah, it is. Hot Fuzz?
04:30Yeah. But I love Hot Fuzz. We never talk about Hot Fuzz. We've watched it together. I know that.
04:35We quote it all the time. I know that. So we do talk about it together. Devil Wears Prada and
04:39The Goonies are the other two. Devil Wears Prada, yes. I did know that. I didn't know The Goonies.
04:43Not my favorite film ever. Wow. There you go. I think I did pretty well there. You did very well.
04:48Yeah. The Dream Job one, that was sick. I did really well there. That was really good. Good
04:52job, mate. I'm not going to do that well. This is quite a good one. Describe what you think I was
04:56like as a child. I think that you were a child that everyone liked because you were very cute
05:01but a bit quiet. I think because you spent a lot of your childhood surrounded by a lot of adults.
05:06Yeah. I mean, it was very like, yes, you were probably nice and quiet. But yeah, we'll take
05:12that. We'll take that. What was my favorite scene to film so far? I'm guessing that is...
05:17In Heartstopper. In Heartstopper because otherwise that would be quite tricky. Well,
05:21I think it's either the scene with Ewan Will on this season in Halloween or Ewan Will on the
05:26benches in season one or two. I don't remember what it was. I don't know. I'll give you that.
05:31Is there a scene you think fans would be excited to see in season three? I think all of episode four
05:36is like the best episode of Heartstopper that has been made. Describe my perfect day off.
05:42I think you'd probably wake up late, maybe go to someone's house for a brunch.
05:55Yeah. Yeah. And then a walk, ramen, you know. Yeah. Any common. Some drinks with friends.
06:02Yeah. Yeah. Okay. What are my dog's names? Basil and Sibyl. Correct. Who would make me
06:11starstruck? Is this going to embarrass me? Do they have to be alive? Probably. Yeah. Because
06:16otherwise I think I'd be just traumatized. True. Oh, I don't know. I think there's not many people
06:21you'd be starstruck for. I've been starstruck in front of you for sure. I was starstruck when we
06:25did GQ Man of the Year. Oh yeah. I was starstruck with like most people. Oh yeah. I'm going to say
06:30no point for that and that was a boring answer and that was rubbish. But what is the answer? I
06:35don't know. A bunch of people probably. A lot of people in that room. I wanted to follow Stormzy.
06:40That's true. I just, names. Enough. Oh, this is probably going to be easy. What is the most worn
06:45piece of clothing in my closet? Either your Carhartt jeans or your Carhartt jacket. I think
06:49it's got to be the jacket, surely. Yeah, it has to be the jacket. Who washed that jacket? Yeah.
06:52But only if someone like throws up on it. Okay, good. Generally. What was my very first role?
06:58Ooh, see, are we getting specific here? I might, depending on if I want you to win or not.
07:02Did you do an advert first? But what was it? What was it for? What was my very first job?
07:09I don't know what it was for. It was a Christmas commercial for Xbox. Oh yes. I do remember now.
07:14It was called, I believe, Santa Got Fired or something. It was pretty gut-wrenching.
07:22I actually don't still to this day know how it was in any way related to Xbox, but it was.
07:27Did they give you an Xbox? No. What was my first impression of you? That I had weird thumbs. Yes.
07:33I do have weird thumbs. They're not weird. I've grown to realise they're not strange,
07:37they're not weird. They're just a little bit, you know, they're interesting. Interesting.
07:42What is my most annoying habit? You don't have any annoying habits. Oh, bless you. This is
07:47brilliant. This is great. I feel like you never normally like are left this like speechless.
07:53What I'm trying to think is you don't really have any annoying habits. No, you don't have any.
07:57There's habits you have that I wish you didn't have, but they're not annoying. Like...
08:01Okay. What's my dream role? Romeo in Romeo and Juliet on Broadway. Oh my God. There you go.
08:11Yeah, that's probably a dream role. Yeah. There you go. What is my biggest ick? You've got quite
08:16a few icks. Yeah? Okay. Yeah. What can I say to GQ? What can you say to GQ? That's a great question.
08:24This is really hard. You've got some tough ones. I do. This is hard ones. And I also want to,
08:29you know, maintain the fact that you're a nice person. So I can't say the truth. It's not that
08:34hard. Go on. Give a very basic, vague ick. If someone hates gay people. That's an ick.
08:41Ain't that the truth. Ain't that the truth. Yeah. That's a good one. Yeah. What is my process
08:46for getting into character? You have a process? Yeah. I look into the mirror and I'm like, why?
08:52Yeah. That's what I do. That's what he does. You could look, there you go. And it gets me there.
08:56It gets me there. I don't think I really have as much, too much of a process. It depends on the,
09:02on the job. What's my favorite movie? I should know this. Or like, yeah, like one of them.
09:06I really should know this. I do know this. It's somewhere in there. Notting Hill.
09:10It's one of them. Yeah. That's a comfort movie. Yeah. Yeah. But my favorite film is gone. I'll
09:17give you half a point for that. Thank you. What is your, what is your favorite movie?
09:20I would say either Blade Runner or, at the moment, I also really love Paris, Texas.
09:26I've been there. Okay. I wouldn't have got either of them, but. That's all right. Great films.
09:30What is my go-to karaoke song? Unless you're like really drunk, you're not a huge karaoke person.
09:36No, I'm not. Yeah. I'm not a big dancer or karaoke or any of those fun things. No, he's
09:43really boring. Yeah. No. We have done karaoke together. Yeah, but. Several times. Me and Will
09:49sang a song together because you all forced us to sing one. What did you sing together?
09:52I'm really shit at this. I know, I think a lot of, a lot of things. You got all like really
09:58easy questions. I'm getting. I'm sorry. Me saying. You had some. Come on. Give me some props. All
10:05right. I'm going to just say the song that we sang was Tiny Dancer. Yeah. I was thinking,
10:10I didn't want to. We didn't sing it well. So. But we sang that. How do I make my tea?
10:15Milk, no sugar. Or do you have one sugar? No sugar. Yeah. Is that right? Yeah. How milky?
10:20Not too milky. What brand? Tetley. Did you tips? What's your brand of choice? Yorkshire.
10:26Yorkshire. Of course it's Yorkshire. If it's, if it's. Yeah. Yorkshire tea. Yeah. Of course.
10:31Yeah. Yeah. I'll give him a point for that. I didn't even need to throw that. I just,
10:34I just did. So exciting. I got this many points. Well, I got this many points. Oh yeah.
10:42Oh, it's closer than I thought. That's really close. How? Oh, I did better than I thought I
10:47did. I was a bit too nice with the giving you points then I think. Well, well it's done.
10:53We both had some tricky ones. You deserve the win. Thank you very much. GQ.
10:58Say something Joe. It was, yeah. Can we just go again? Go and watch Hot Stubble season three.
11:03Please do. Three? Yeah. Three. There were three of them.
