00:00The story of the wolf and the seven kids, a German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm.
00:08Once upon a time, there lived a mother goat and her seven children.
00:13Now we all know that a baby goat is called a kid.
00:16And that is why this story is called The Wolf and the Seven Kids.
00:21There's the first one, and number two, three, number four, number five, number six, and...
00:30Uh-oh, I wonder what's happened to the littlest kid.
00:34Oh, there he is, hidden in the deep grass.
00:38He was the youngest and therefore the cutest of all the brothers and sisters.
00:46The seven little kids were very happy in their home in the meadow
00:52and spent day after day playing follow the leader and other games.
00:56It was great fun, and the littlest kid did his best to keep up with his older brothers and sisters.
01:01But sometimes he had to take a shortcut or else lose the game.
01:06He might not have been a champion at follow the leader,
01:10but he always won when they played hide and go seek.
01:14He was the smallest and could easily hide behind a rock,
01:18a toadstool,
01:21or even in their mother's pots and pans.
01:25And he was still small enough to paddle around their swimming hole on a lily pad.
01:30Wow, doesn't that look like fun?
01:33And at night, the six older children all slept together in a big wooden bed.
01:38But the littlest kid still slept in a basket tucked away in a corner beside his mother's old rocking chair.
01:45The days and nights passed quickly for the seven kids because they had plenty to eat,
01:50lots of time for play, and no school.
01:53They didn't seem to have a worry in the world.
01:57But one morning, this was all to change.
02:00The sun was shining brightly and the meadow was aglow with wildflowers.
02:05And so the mother goat decided to go into the village to do some shopping.
02:09But before she left, she warned her children to be on their guard.
02:13All right, children, I'll be back before dark.
02:16Just beware of one thing.
02:18We never know when that wicked wolf will come snooping around,
02:21so lock the door and don't open it for anyone.
02:23Okay.
02:24But mother, what's a wolf?
02:26You'll know him because he has a voice as rough as gravel and as loud as thunder.
02:31And his feet are as black as coal. Isn't that right, Mommy?
02:34That's right. So if you see those black feet from under our door, don't you dare open it.
02:39All right.
02:40Okay.
02:48And so the mother goat set off for the village, confident that her children would obey her orders.
02:54But the mother goat wasn't the only one in the meadow that morning.
02:57She was being watched as she left by a very hungry fellow.
03:05I've been waiting a long time for this chance.
03:09My mouth has been watering for some of those delicious goat chops ever since they were born.
03:15Ha, ha, ha!
03:30Oh, those poor little kids are so busy playing that they haven't seen the wolf yet.
03:35But at least they remembered to lock the door.
03:45Knock, knock, knock!
03:48Hello?
03:49Children, it's your mother.
03:52I came home early.
03:54Open the door for me, won't you?
03:57Mommy, Mommy, Mommy!
04:05Oh, no, you don't.
04:07Hey, what's keeping you?
04:09Open the door, hurry!
04:11You don't sound like our mother.
04:13You're the big bad wolf!
04:16Huh?
04:30The wolf had heard that if you ate enough chalk, it would make your voice as smooth as baby powder.
04:35So he bought the biggest box he could find and quickly wolfed it down.
04:39But that's only for wolves now.
04:41Don't any of you ever try it because it will give you a terrible tummy ache.
04:53Ha, ha, ha!
04:54Ooh, that should do it.
05:04It's your mother and I am home.
05:07It's Mommy! She's home!
05:09Mommy!
05:13Hey, fellas, look!
05:17Trash feet! That's not Mom!
05:21Hurry and open the door, children!
05:24No! You're not our mother!
05:26You're the big bad wolf!
05:29Huh?
05:38That wolf was really angry now.
05:40So he went to the barn and stole some flour and began dusting himself all over.
05:52Huh?
05:53Children, it's your mother and I brought you all a present.
05:57Mother? It sounds like Mommy.
06:00I brought you cookies and cake and delicious candies.
06:05It's Mother!
06:07Mommy!
06:08Mommy!
06:09Mommy!
06:10Mommy!
06:11Mommy!
06:12Mommy!
06:13Mommy!
06:14Mommy!
06:15Mommy!
06:16Mommy!
06:25The frightened kids ran here and there trying to find a place to hide.
06:29Come here!
06:30Oh, oh, follow me there!
06:36Oh, follow me there!
06:39But they were all too big and the wolf would have no trouble finding them.
06:58Not bad at all!
07:01Who's next?
07:03Gotcha!
07:05Gotcha!
07:10Well, what have we here?
07:17In no time at all, that wicked wolf had swallowed the little kid.
07:21Huh?
07:23Huh?
07:25I could have sworn I saw a kid come out of that clock.
07:31Hmm.
07:36I just know I saw one go into that clock.
07:40Let's see.
07:41There was one over there.
07:43There was two, there was three, there was four.
07:47There was five.
07:51I can't remember.
07:55Okay, once again.
07:56There was one, there was two, there was three.
08:00What time is it?
08:02It's four o'clock.
08:04There was five, there was six, there was seven, yeah.
08:08I got them all.
08:09They were delicious.
08:11Oh my goodness, that was really quick thinking by the littlest kid, wasn't it?
08:16Uh-oh, here comes the mother goat.
08:19What will she think when she finds that the wolf has eaten six of her children?
08:24Oh!
08:28Children! Children! Oh!
08:30Children! Children!
08:31Mother!
08:32Children!
08:33Oh, thank goodness.
08:35The big bad wolf was here.
08:37Oh no!
08:39But why'd they hide and seek in the cuckoo clock?
08:46Mama, there's the wolf.
08:48Harley, bring the scissors and the needle and thread.
08:50Okay.
08:52Oh!
08:53Oh!
08:54Oh!
08:55Oh!
08:56Oh!
08:57Oh!
08:59And with a snip, snip, snip, the mother goat had freed her children from the tummy of that wicked wolf.
09:05Oh! Yay!
09:07Oh!
09:08Wow!
09:09Wow!
09:13The mother goat was overjoyed to have her children back.
09:16But she knew that that wicked wolf might wake up at any time.
09:19So she stuffed him with as many rocks as she could find and sewed him up tight.
09:26It had been a long time since the wolf had had such a full stomach.
09:29So he slept and he slept the whole night through.
09:35When the wolf awoke the next morning, his throat was still dry from eating all that chalk.
09:40So he staggered to his feet and went off for a drink at the well.
09:44Oh!
09:45Oh!
09:46Oh!
09:47Oh!
09:48Oh!
09:49Oh!
09:50Oh!
09:51Oh!
09:52Oh!
09:53Oh!
09:54Oh!
09:55Oh!
09:56Oh!
09:57Oh!
09:58Oh!
09:59Oh!
10:02And that was the end of the big bad wolf.
10:05After that, the seven little kids never had to worry about him again.
10:09And they played outside every day from morning till night.
10:13Oh oh ! Où est ce petit gars maintenant ?
10:15Je suppose qu'il joue à Hide and Seek avec nous de nouveau.
10:18Mais on sait où il se cache, n'est-ce pas ?
