00:00The multi-million pound redevelopment of Liverpool's iconic Littlewoods building
00:04could take another huge step forward as the proposals go before the City Council to be
00:08signed off. In November last year, developers Capital and Centric formally lodged their
00:13intentions to overhaul the historic site off Edge Lane into a Hollywood of the North TV
00:18and film studio. The building is divided into three sections including the east and west wing
00:22separated by a 1960s addition, The Hangar. The existing buildings will be used as office space,
00:28hotel accommodation for crew and an education facility in roof terrace. Two 20,000 square foot
00:34studios would be installed with a former canteen transformed into a multi-purpose screening and
00:39performance zone featuring five small format cinema screens, an outdoor performance space
00:44and permanent food hall. It's hoped the Littlewoods development would create around
00:484,000 full-time equivalent jobs in the region's creative sector. Planning officers have recommended
00:53the scheme be approved when members meet to consider the project at Liverpool Town Hall
00:57on Tuesday, October 1.
