00:04I never liked playing with dolls.
00:08I grew up playing baseball with the kids.
00:12Well, we're here with someone
00:14who's from the Pípola family in Spanish,
00:16and it's Yalitza Aparicio.
00:19You've been with us practically since you started your career,
00:26that explosion in 2018 with Cinta Roma,
00:30it's amazing that it's been a little more than a feast.
00:33You've been one of the 50 most beautiful people in Spanish.
00:36We're super happy, congratulations.
00:38A million thanks for being here.
00:40We're going to talk about your new project,
00:42The Amazons, by Jacques Chouinard.
00:44How are you? Welcome.
00:47Thank you very much. I am radiant with happiness.
00:51I feel so happy, so grateful
00:56with the whole ESPN team for bringing a story like this
01:01from wonderful to the screen,
01:04and also for allowing the soccer team of Jacques Chouinard,
01:09the girls from the Amazons team,
01:12to also be experiencing all this experience
01:15of bringing their story around the world.
01:19Let's start with the beginning.
01:22What is this documentary about, The Amazons, by Jacques Chouinard,
01:25in which you act as a narrator?
01:28This documentary is about a soccer team of women
01:35that we see how they face and deal with many things
01:41throughout their process in their desire to grow in soccer.
01:49We get to know the people who go through this process,
01:57both those who support them and those who don't.
02:01I feel that it is a reflection of what society is about.
02:07People who trust, people who don't.
02:10But in this case, they, the protagonists,
02:13how they continue on their path.
02:15And where was the documentary filmed?
02:19This documentary is filmed in Yashuna, in Yucatan,
02:23but there are other shots that they have
02:26when they were accompanied to other fields.
02:29So they have a journey there,
02:32because it was a long time that the director has told us
02:36that he went through the process.
02:39Because they have traveled internationally.
02:41I have seen photos of them visiting other teams.
02:45They have attracted a lot of attention.
02:47What do you think has been that great achievement for them
02:51on a social and sporting level?
02:53Also, obviously, personal, a lot for them.
02:56But what do you think has been that great contribution
02:59that this group gives?
03:01I think it has been the strength they have
03:06and also the resistance above all.
03:11The fact of getting to where they are now
03:15has implied a great path,
03:17which speaks about the strength
03:22that they have both personally and as a team.
03:27It's a truly impressive documentary.
03:31And that brings me the last question for you.
03:34Since you jumped to international fame with Roma,
03:38we've been watching you.
03:40You're traveling all over the world,
03:42going to incredible places
03:43that few Mexicans can go to,
03:45few Latinos can go to.
03:48And there you were, on a red carpet,
03:50after another, after another,
03:52a junket after another,
03:54learning as you went, doing all this.
03:59How do you see that Yalitza of those years?
04:01How has it changed?
04:04Was it easy for you or not to enjoy that moment?
04:07Because it went by fast.
04:08I feel like right now you're doing something else too, right?
04:13Yes, it was a very fast process.
04:14It was learning while you were putting it into practice.
04:18But I think the most important thing
04:21about all this process that I lived
04:24and that they are also living now,
04:26it's always the team that accompanies you.
04:28Because you just drift into a different, new world,
04:34and things that you don't know,
04:35a language that you don't speak.
04:37There are so many things
04:40that just the people around you
04:42are the ones that also make you enjoy the process,
04:46the ones that help you continue,
04:49the ones that advise you, the ones you learn from.
04:52Because many times it's not necessary for them to speak,
04:55it's not necessary for them to tell you,
04:56oh, look, step one, step two, no.
04:57You see how they develop and you say,
05:00ah, so I have to learn to do this,
05:03I have to do the other.
05:05They are things that surround you
05:07and that fill all these moments.
05:09So I think seeing them right now in all that process
05:13reminds me of those experiences that I just let go
05:18and that now I say, ah, of course,
05:20the first time I came to New York,
05:21oh, I'm terrible at dates,
05:24but there are moments that I have as a photograph in my mind
05:27and I say, ah, the first time I went to Venice, of course, no.
05:31Yes, it's true, I already knew this place as little things
05:34that are happening,
05:35which maybe at the time is a lot, a lot, a lot.
05:38But when you sit down, you say,
05:39how incredible to have lived that process.
05:42And today, how incredible to be able to have this opportunity
05:46to see the process of all the women
05:49of this softball team, of all the Amazons.
05:53See this process of what they are living,
05:55of what they are enjoying, of what they are knowing.
05:58And it is also wonderful to see how the ESPN team,
06:03all those who make it up,
06:05are there giving them the support.
06:08It's amazing.
06:09You have formed a very good team.
06:11Congratulations truly for this documentary.
06:13It's amazing.
06:14No one can miss it.
06:16Yalitza, Parisio, thank you very much.
06:19And yes, no one can miss this documentary.
06:21I think there are many things that we can learn
06:24from the process that they have had.
06:27And there are also many little things that remind you again
06:31how important it is to enjoy every moment.
