00:00And let's start in the big house in Ann Arbor, USC's Big Ten
00:07football debut against Michigan. The Wolverines, a home
00:12underdog coach for the second time in the last three weeks.
00:17It's a four and a half point spread now in favor of USC. They
00:21were an underdog just once in the previous three seasons that
00:25ended with three consecutive Big Ten titles, and of course, a
00:28national championship a year ago. How do you break down the
00:31matchup from what you're seeing on paper between the Trojans
00:34and the Wolverines?
00:35I think Michigan is still an enigma. They don't know who they
00:38are. They're switching quarterbacks to Alex Orji. And
00:41it's not that they found a quarterback, it's that they're
00:43looking for a quarterback. You know, think about yours at Texas
00:46being replaced by Arch Manning. You know what you got. You know
00:49you got somebody that can fill in if he's hurt. But I think
00:52Michigan is looking. And if Orji can just not throw
00:55interceptions. Warren threw six interceptions, won the first
00:58game, two the second game, three the third game. So I think the
01:01first thing Orji's got to do is don't turn the ball over. Just
01:04play good, solid football, manage the offense. And
01:07remember, you have a good football team. You were 13-0
01:09last year. You still got a lot of people that know how to win.
01:13But USC right now, because of the way they play on defense,
01:16along with their great offense, it's going to be hard for them
01:19to keep up with USC.
01:21Coach, let's talk about the quarterback. Orji's more mobile.
01:24He's the more athletic out of him and Davis Warren. From the
01:28coaching perspective, what could Jerome Moore and that
01:30offensive staff implement due to his athleticism to potentially
01:34give the Wolverines an edge in this matchup?
01:38Well, just a lot more running with the quarterback and running
01:41the football, getting it down to good third down situations where
01:44you're not throwing in, in pure passing situations. That's what
01:48you don't want to have with this quarterback. So the fact that he
01:51can't run, now let's make sure we mix that in with the offense.
01:55That'll help protect him from having to win the game with his
01:58arm and putting pressure on him. Because you know good and well
02:01at the big house, there is a lot of pressure on that young
02:03quarterback.
02:04Michigan over 300 rushing yards as a team last week against
02:07Arkansas State. I assume we will see a similar offensive
02:11philosophy today against Southern Cal.
