Modern Brain Rot has entered pop culture in a handful of ways which may mean it's time to declare time of death on the Skibidi era. From cringey walmart ads to Australian senators using it in speeches, and even an upcoming Skibidi Toilet movie, it's safe to say these terms are no longer edgy.

00:00To the Sigmas of Australia, I say that this goofy air government have been capping.
00:05I'm going to show you an image, okay? I want you to stare at it for a few seconds,
00:08just look at this. Did that make you writhe, puke in your mouth a little bit? Do words like
00:11skibbity activate you like MKUltra? When you hear Mary Rizmus, kind stranger, I'm a level 99 skibbity.
00:16Does your skeleton want to jump out of its body and run free? You're not alone. This is brain rot.
00:21Brain rot is an interesting term, because that's how we describe and categorize a lot of this new
00:24internet slang over the past couple years. In many ways, words like Ohio and aura are just
00:29part of the cyclical nature of internet terminology. In 2016, everyone was just
00:33saying cringe and cancer. And in 2020, everyone was saying simp and Karen. Now in 2024, everyone's
00:39saying Riz and yacht. And honestly, the word brain rot is nothing more than a modern buzzword
00:44to describe this phenomenon. In 2016, you'd probably categorize this as cringe. Now we
00:48call it brain rot. Even brain rot is sort of a brain rot term. I've heard the thesis being passed
00:52around that brain rot is dead. And in my opinion, this current wave of brain rot may be dying,
00:57but along with its death will usher in a new form of communication. There will be new buzzwords next
01:01year and the year after that. Maybe next year, the word everyone will be saying is gurnkle. I
01:04don't know. But yes, words like skibbity are starting to fall out of the common internet
01:08warrior's lexicon. And part of it is because it might have overstayed its welcome in many people's
01:12eyes. So much so that some of these words have begun seeing usage in mainstream realms. Let's
01:16take a look at this new Walmart ad, for example. On July 29th, 2024, the Walmart YouTube channel
01:21posted this ad advertising back to school fashion. And in it, the bus driver gets a lesson from a kid
01:25that ate has replaced slay and even promises to teach the driver the word Ohio on the way back
01:30home. People immediately tuned into this cursed ad and started making edits, making fun of it.
01:34Here's an edit from Crown Point, which adds a cringe counter to the screen, tallying each
01:38instance of cringe. Maybe 2016 brain rot words are still relevant today. Does that mean I'm
01:42going to hear about skibbity toilet in 2032? Because I don't know if I can handle that reality.
01:46Other edits include Walmart brain rot ad, but it speeds up every time it's cringe. When the kid
01:50says no cap, you aren't cringe or Ohio at all. It does make me want to unalive in Ohio or in
01:55Minecraft or, um, okay, wow, my brain is gone. It's mush. By the way, did you see the Senate
01:58speech in Australia? Probably not, but Australian Senator Fatima Payman said, quote, the sigmas of
02:03Australia as well as the legitimate words cap-a-holics and yap-a-holics. If you can believe
02:08it, she even says skibbity in this speech out loud in a government building. I'm just glad that the,
02:13uh, the skibbity toilets are finally getting representation. I think we should pass laws
02:16giving equal rights to the skibbities. It's unfair. Skibbity. This speech obviously got
02:20memed on a lot on TikTok, like this caption versioned by Six News Australia, which received
02:2414 million plays and 2 million likes in just one day. Many other content creators and TikTokers
02:29reacted to this, some even lamenting, why did I understand everything? Maybe these public displays
02:33of skibbity are actually getting people to finally touch grass. Maybe this is based. Oh, I used another
02:37buzzword. Maybe this is great. If you thought all of this was bone-crunching and skin-wrenching
02:40enough, wait until you hear about the new movie coming out. On July 24th, 2024, Variety reported
02:45that Skibbity Toilet would be getting a TV and film adaptation by, yes, Michael Bay. I'm seeing
02:50that on IMAX. I'm going to get the special G-Man toilet popcorn bucket for $45 at AMC and then sit
02:55in the front row like Frank Reynolds going, oh my god, I get it. Many tweeters and internet users
02:59quickly took to the post, responding with GIFs and captions. Mad man guy in the theater with
03:03the caption, Michael Bay studying Skibbity Toilet right now. Many people asked, how would you even
03:07make a Skibbity Toilet movie, given that it's a bunch of valve assets from stuff like Half-Life?
03:11I think they'd probably just change the heads in the toilets, you know, just, like, throw
03:14Willem Dafoe in there or something. Robert Pattinson would go hard to Skibbity Toilet.
03:18What can I say? Many TikToks came out as well, like this one that joked about Skibbity Toilet
03:21getting made over other movies, which received 1.2 million plays. So yeah, welcome to your new
03:25reality, have fun with that. Brain rot has infected every little nook and cranny of the real world. I
03:30just can't even imagine what brain rot will look like four years from now. Let's hope it's less
03:33toilet-themed.
