People on the street: Is a pint too much beer?

A recent study has created clamour from some quarters for the government to reduce standard beer sizes from a pint to two-thirds of a pint in a bid to try to ease British attitudes towards drinking.

We went out into Manchester to ask people on the street if they would approve of such changes.

00:00Hi, I'm Theo with Manchester World today
00:01I'm out in the streets of Manchester asking people about beer and the reason for that is it's been recommended to the government
00:05that pubs should be forced to reduce the quantity of beer that they sell from pints to two-thirds of pints and that is to try
00:12and curb the drinking appetite of many Brits
00:14We don't know whether people will be in support of that idea against it and what their arguments are each way
00:19We want to have a pint test in England. Yeah, I think that's just a better way to do it
00:24Yeah, like I know in Scotland. They just have like drinks tax and like can't serve alcohol after a certain time
00:29I
00:30like to drink so I
00:34Personally
00:36emotionally a
00:38Little against it. I understand it though because at the end of the day it is a drug
00:42It is bad for you and like it does just increase crime rates lots of domestic violence and stuff like that
00:48In Sweden, they want to have a pint because they they want more
00:52So we can also order a pint but the ordinary is not not a pint
