00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. I'm Dirk Youssenveld and with 2024 now coming to a close,
00:04we spent a little bit of time looking back on the things that we've done in 2024 so that we can put
00:08them in a list for you and tell you some of the best places we've been. Today's topic is some of
00:12the best bars and pubs that I've been able to try out since I joined the team back in the summer.
00:16Here in Manchester there's a real community scene between all the pubs, particularly in the northern
00:20quarter but in the rest of the city too. I want to start off with Track Brewery which I was
00:23fortunate enough to go to earlier this year. They have a massive range of constantly changing beers
00:30each one sort of nicer than the last. If you head over towards the brewery when it's open there's
00:35also a great atmosphere, sometimes there's music on and such a great range of beers it really is
00:40worth a try because there is something for everyone. The Temple of Convenience is an old
00:45abandoned Victorian underground toilet and it's such a cool quirky little place. It was referenced
00:51in a song by Guy Garvey who has made no secret of his love for the place and it's a great option
00:56for after gigs if you're around the Oxford Street region. Seven Oaks is in Chinatown in
01:02Manchester and it's a brilliant cheap pub. It's sort of an old gentleman's pub, you've got pints
01:08of beer there still for under four pounds which is such a bargain in the middle of Manchester. It
01:12is pretty rare as well and the atmosphere is always great. The Fremantle is somewhere that
01:16needs no introduction really, it's one of the more popular bars in the northern quarter.
01:20The Beer Garden is famed for bringing some of the best atmosphere that you can find in the city on
01:24a night out and the staff are constantly friendly. To change that completely we want to talk about
01:29the Courts Club which has a basketball and tennis court outside that anyone could just book and have
01:35a go at as well as having drinks and relaxing outside. It is perfect for summer although they
01:39have had an ice rink there over the course of the winter. I'd recommend when the sun gets back out
01:44get yourself down there and do some activities while you're having a drink.
01:49That's all for now, those are some of the best bars and pubs that I've been able to visit this
01:52year in Manchester. Please stay tuned and we'll keep you updated on where we make it in 2025.
