00:00game of the year so far in college football coming our way
00:06here in week number five. It's number four, Alabama hosting
00:10number two, Georgia, and the line still stands with UGA as a
00:15road favorite coach as you examine these two teams. Do you
00:18believe Georgia deserves to be the favorite even on the road in
00:21Tuscaloosa?
00:24You know, they want 142 straight regular season games.
00:27They're the winningest team over the last three or four years.
00:30I mean, until they start losing, I can't pull against them. And
00:33Kirby's smart, the bigger the game, the more he knows how to
00:36coach in it. So I like the one point I want to stay with
00:39Georgia on this one. But they've got to become more explosive.
00:42They have no explosive plays. And I think they've got to
00:45manufacture it. When I say manufactured, you can't score
00:49deep unless you call a deep ball. I think the coordinator
00:52has to call the ball, give them some deep throws, because
00:55they've got to have more explosive plays when they play
00:58teams like Alabama.
01:00Coach, we talked about in terms of these huge matchups, the team
01:03that breaks tendency usually has an advantage. When you look at
01:07Kirby smart and knowing that they lost the SEC championship
01:10game to Alabama and Nick Saban. Do you think Kirby will break
01:13down that film more than let's say this year in regards to the
01:16new offensive attack with Kalen DeBoer?
01:21Well, he's going to know what the other team is going to
01:24study. The other team is studying what he does to get his
01:27tendencies. And I can tell you this by experience. I've coached
01:30against Alabama five times in some big, big games in the Iron
01:34Bowl. When you get to a big game like this, you've got to know
01:38your own tendencies and you got to break them at just the right
01:41time. I've always said it's good to have tendencies. It's bad not
01:44to know them. If you know your tendencies, then in a big game
01:47like this, Kirby smart will pull out a different defensive front,
01:51a different blitz, a different offensive play. He knows how to
01:55win big games. That's why he's where he is over the last five
01:58years.
