Analysis of Doncaster Rovers' loss to Bromley
Transcript
00:00Good evening, Ricky Joseph here from the Ecopower after Rovers' pretty bruising 1-0 defeat tonight
00:06to Bromley here at home. Yeah, it's just a really sobering night I think, a frustrating
00:13one more than anything for Grant McCann and his team because on paper you look at it potentially
00:18a chance to go top or at least keep pace with obviously the leaders Port Vale up against
00:23a team new to the league, third bottom. On paper with the form Rovers were in you're
00:29kind of thinking it's a home banker but obviously football's rarely like that, it rarely works
00:33out the way you think it'll work. Yeah, it was just a strange one really, I mean first
00:3915-20 minutes Rovers bossed it, gone back to a back four, obviously reverting back from
00:45the three they had at Swindon and they were bossing it, creating lots of chances. Maxwell
00:50went close, Patrick Kelly went close and you're thinking right, if they get one then they
00:55can kind of build on that but didn't come and then against them on a play Bromley scored
01:00from the corner, a bit of a fortuitous one and then obviously they take the lead, go
01:051-0 up but it's just one of those where you're thinking right, as soon as Rovers get one
01:10they'll get back into it. Obviously that didn't happen, the longer that goes on the more frustrated
01:15the crowd gets and yeah I think you've got to give Bromley a bit of credit in terms of
01:21did they try and run the clock down at every occasion? I think yeah but they're new to
01:26this league, three wins I think all season before tonight so they were always going to
01:30do that but it was up to Rovers to break them down and we spoke to Grant McCann afterwards
01:34in this room, he was far from happy, pulled no punches with his assessment of his team,
01:40said they weren't good enough, said they didn't really create the chances or the quality of
01:46chances that you would probably expect. I know their goalkeeper got a lot of credit
01:49from people but he was kind of saying the chances they created weren't that good in
01:55terms of being genuine goalscoring chances and I think you'd have to watch them back
01:59but you'd probably be inclined to agree with him. The hope is that it's just a blip, I
02:05think generally so far this season when they've lost Rovers they've bounced back, you think
02:08of Harrogate and Newport, how they reacted to those results, Chesterfield as well. So
02:14yeah hopefully they can bounce back and there's no better place to bounce back is there than
02:18at Valley Parade, it'll be a big crowd there Saturday. So yeah hopefully we'll be just
02:23talking about a one-off blip for Rovers but yeah, plenty over on the website including
02:29like I said those pretty brutal quotes from Grant McCann tonight so yeah they're well
02:33worth a look.
