00:00In the name of Allah, the most merciful, the most compassionate.
00:28He said, Did I not tell you that you will not be able to patiently bear with me?
00:34He said, If I ask you about anything after this, do not make me your companion. You have reached a point where I have no excuse.
00:47Moses said, Keep me no more in your company. If I question you concerning anything after this, you will then be fully justified.
00:58So they set out, and when they came to the people of a town, they asked for food from its people.
01:08But they refused to give them food.
01:12So they found a wall in it, which was about to collapse.
01:21Then the two went forth, until when they came to a town, they asked its people for food, but they refused to pay host to them.
01:36They found in that town a wall that was on the verge of tumbling down, and he buttressed it.
01:42Whereupon Moses said, If you had wished, you could have received payment for it.
01:48He said, This brings me and you to a parting of ways. Now I shall explain to you the true meaning of things about which you could not remain patient.
02:11As for the boat, it belonged to some poor people who worked on the river, and I desired to damage it for the sake of my people.
02:40As for the lad, his parents were people of faith, and we feared lest he should plague them with transgression and blasphemy.
03:09So we desired that their Lord should grant them another in His place, a son more upright and more tender-hearted.
03:33As for the wall, it belonged to two orphans in the city, and beneath it was their treasure, and their father was righteous.
03:48As for the wall, it belonged to two orphans in the city, and beneath it was their treasure, and their father was righteous.
04:08As for the wall, it belonged to two orphans in the city, and beneath it was their treasure, and their father was righteous.
04:38And they ask you about Dhul-Qarnayn. Say, I will give you an account of him.
04:47O Muhammad, they ask you about Dhul-Qarnayn. Say, I will give you an account of him.
04:55Indeed, We gave him power in the land, and We gave him a means of everything.
05:05We granted him power in the land, and endowed him with all kinds of resources.
05:11He set out westwards on an expedition,
05:18He set out westwards on an expedition,
05:32until he reached the limit, where the sun rises, and he found it rising on a people whom We had provided no shelter from it.
05:42Thus was the state of those people, and We encompassed in knowledge all concerning Dhul-Qarnayn.
05:57Then he set out on another expedition,
06:05Then he set out on another expedition,
06:18until when he reached a place between the two mountains,
06:22he found beside the mountains a people who scarcely understood anything.
06:28They said, O Dhul-Qarnayn, Gog and Magog are spreading corruption in this land.
06:56So shall we pay you taxes on the understanding that you will set up a barrier between us and them?
07:03He said, Whatever my Lord has granted me is good enough.
07:16He answered, Whatever my Lord has granted me is good enough.
07:21But help me with your labor, and I will erect a rampart between you and them.
07:27Bring me ingots of iron.
07:47Then after he had filled up the space between the two mountainsides,
07:54he said, Light a fire, and ply bellows.
07:58When he had made it red like fire, he said, Bring me molten copper, which I may pour on it.
08:06Such was the rampart that Gog and Magog could not scale, nor could they pierce it.
08:21He said, This is a mercy from my Lord, and when the promise of my Lord comes true,
08:31it will be true.
08:35Dhul-Qarnayn said, This is a mercy from my Lord,
08:39but when the time of my Lord's promise shall come,
08:43he will level the rampart with the ground.
08:46My Lord's promise always comes true.
08:50And on that day, we shall let some of them surge like waves against others,
09:08and the trumpet shall be blown.
09:10Then we shall gather them all together.
09:13And We shall show Hell on that day to the disbelievers.
09:21That will be the day We shall place Hell before the unbelievers,
09:26whose eyes had become blind against My admonition,
09:34and they could not hear.
09:40Whose eyes had become blind against My admonition,
09:44and who were utterly disinclined to hear it.
09:49Do the unbelievers then believe that they can take any of My creatures as their guardians beside Me?
10:16Verily, We have prepared Hell to welcome the unbelievers.
10:22Say, O Muhammad, shall We tell you who will be the greatest losers in respect of their works?
10:37It will be those whose effort went astray in the life of the world,
10:53and who believe nevertheless that they are doing good.
10:57Those are the ones who refuse to believe in the revelations of their Lord,
11:21and that they are bound to meet Him.
11:24Hence, all their deeds have come to naught,
11:28and We shall assign no weight to them on the day of resurrection.
11:32Hell is their recompense for disbelieving,
11:49and they are taking My revelations and My messengers as objects of jest.
11:55As for those who believe and do good works,
12:10the gardens of Paradise shall be there to welcome them.
12:14There they will abide forever, with no desire to be removed from there.
12:27Say, if the sea were to become ink to record the words of my Lord,
12:51Indeed, the sea would be all used up before the words of my Lord are exhausted,
12:58and it would be the same even if We were to bring an equal amount of ink.
13:05Say, I am only a human being like you.
13:10It is revealed to me that your God is one God.
13:18So whoever hopes to meet his Lord,
13:25let him do good works,
13:29Say, O Muhammad, I am no more than a human being like you,
13:42one to whom revelation is made.
13:45Your Lord is the one and only God.
13:50Hence, whoever looks forward to meet his Lord,
13:54let him do righteous works,
13:56and let him associate none with the worship of his Lord.
14:08In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.
14:27This is an account of the mercy of your Lord to His servant Zechariah.
14:47When he cried to his Lord in secret,
14:56He said, Lord, my bones have grown feeble, and my head is glistening with age,
15:03yet never have my prayers to you, my Lord, been unfruitful.
15:09My bones have grown feeble, and my head is glistening with age,
15:13yet never have my prayers to you, my Lord, been unfruitful.
15:32I fear evil from my kinsman after I am gone,
15:36And my wife is barren, so grant me an heir out of your special grace.
15:41He will inherit me and inherit from the family of Jacob, and make him a pleasing Lord.
15:49One that might be my heir, and the heir of the house of Jacob,
15:54and make him Lord, one that will be pleasing to you.
15:58O Zachariah, we give you glad tidings of a son by the name of Jehoiachin, whom we have not named before.
16:11He was told, Zachariah, we bring you the good news of the birth of a son whose name shall be Jehoiachin,
16:20one whose namesake we never created before.
16:25He said, My Lord, how can I have a boy when my wife is barren, and I have reached an extremely old age?
16:47He said, Thus says your Lord, He is easy for me, and I have created you before, and you are nothing.
16:59He answered, So shall it be, your Lord says, It is easy for me, and then added,
17:07For beyond doubt, I created you earlier when you were nothing.
17:13He said, My Lord, make me a sign, and your sign said, Do you not speak to the people for three nights in a row?
17:26Zachariah said, Lord, grant me a sign, said he, Your sign is that you shall not be able to speak to people for three nights, though you will be otherwise sound.
17:40So he went out to his people from the sanctuary and said to them, Praise God morning and evening.
17:52Thereupon Zachariah came out from the sanctuary.
