00:20By the end of the afternoon, more people are buying bread from this bakery in Gagalangim, Tondo, Manila.

00:27Their bread is freshly baked, and even if it's a local brand, it's sure to be delicious and high-quality.

00:35But the challenge of this bakery is the price increase of some ingredients in the bread.

00:41One sack of flour costs up to Php40.

00:45The price of eggs from the former Boltuhan of Php2,400 is now Php2,800.

00:51The price of sugar also increased.

00:53However, they did not increase the price and reduced the weight.

00:57One pandesal costs Php5 in their bakery.

01:07Bread is the favorite snack of Filipinos, just like pandesal.

01:11But some pandesal makers are asking for an increase in the price

01:15because of the high price of some ingredients in making it.

01:18According to Chito Chavez, president of the Association of Filipino Bakers,

01:22pandesal is currently sold for Php3.50 to Php4 in community bakeries.

01:30He does not want the price of raw materials, which are mostly imported, to increase,

01:35so that their products will not be affected.

01:38I hope they will give us a subsidy.

01:40Subsidy?

01:42So that small bakeries will have a chance to survive on bread.

01:48Agri-products should be the government's subsidy.

01:55We asked the Department of Trade and Industry to issue a statement,
