17 candidates for senator, 15 party-list groups file CoCs on first day -- Comelec

Chairman George Erwin Garcia announces the successful first day of the filing of the certificates of candidacy (CoC) at The Manila Hotel on Oct. 1, 2024. Seventeen candidates for senator and 15 party-list organizations/political parties submitted their CoCs and were accepted by the Comelec. Others were rejected as they either failed to submit or did not comply with the requirements. Garcia also said there were no incidents that disrupted the first day of CoC filing.

00:00Erginesto Ferdinand P. Maceda, Jr., Executive Director, Tepistong E.L. Nas.
00:04In our area, we have Director Albert Rodriguez, Director John Rex,
00:10and for the duration of the speech, we would like to invite Chairman George Erwin M. Garcia.
00:15Thank you very much, Mr. Erginesto Ferdinand Maceda,
00:19to our Executive Director, Director John Rex, and Director Albert.
00:22Thank you all for your patience from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
00:29We have 17 candidates for the Senate, 15 party-list organizations,
00:34and political parties that you have witnessed this afternoon,
00:37who attended our Commitment Wall.
00:40And again, as I told you, just like our commitment,
00:44we will accept all of their Certificates of Candidacies,
00:47even though some of them came earlier without a certificate of candidacy.
00:53What they want is just the same, their name.
00:55We did not allow that.
00:57At the same time, some of them came earlier with just 3 copies of the Certificate of Candidacy,
01:05while there should be 5 to be filed here.
01:09The copies are not included.
01:11So, we did not allow them to enter immediately to complete their Certificate of Candidacy.
01:17So far, in my entire country, for your information,
01:21in the monitoring of our Operations Center, which is located in the main office of the public,
01:25there was not a single untoward incident that disturbed our filing of the Certificate of Candidacy.
01:31In Batanes, our Regional Director will inform us that they extended the registration for this day,
01:41and at the same time, the filing of the Certificates of Candidacy was done simultaneously.
01:46So, they did 2 activities on this day,
01:50instead of giving an additional day after the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy.
01:56So, based on our initial assessment,
01:59the first day of the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy was very successful.
02:04For those who did not witness everything earlier,
02:07there were also many supporters who filed their aspirants outside
02:16and they were able to maintain their confidence in filing the Certificate of Candidacy.
02:20There were also no headaches or problems with our supporters outside.
02:27So, again, we are very thankful, especially to the Philippine National Police,
02:32to our Bureau of Fire Protection,
02:35to all of us, to all of you,
02:37to the members of the Commission of Election, especially to our Law Department,
02:42and to Pamunuan Manila Hotel,
02:44because on this first day, we are showing that if we work together,
02:49we can do everything well, clean, and successful.
02:53I hope that the next 7 days will be the same.
