00:00In the tragedy, the field trip of students and teachers went home
00:06when their school bus was hit by lightning in Bangkok, Thailand.
00:10Less than 23 people were injured.
00:13They were not the only ones who were injured in the hospital.
00:16The Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand ordered the Police Chief
00:20to speed up the identification process
00:22so that the victims can go home to their hometown.
00:27The fire station was also investigated.
00:37It's bitter for a farmer who paralyzed his hand
00:41when he was plowing the field.
00:43But for a painter who has a lot of hair,
00:46it was proven that even if he is hit by a car,
00:49he can still use a sweet...
00:51Success!
00:57These works of Fernando Cavite will be full of life.
01:01He has been painting for more than five decades,
01:03whether on canvas or wood.
01:05But the road to his success was not easy
01:09because of the bitter experience.
01:11Fernando was only 13 years old when he started painting.
01:15Over the years,
01:17he has a career in cinema, advertising, and teaching.
01:22But in 1999,
01:25he was struck by a stroke
01:27and his body became paralyzed.
01:29On the other hand,
01:31he was able to use his right hand in painting.
01:33I saw how hard it was for him.
01:35Sometimes I would come home from teaching,
01:39he would cry
01:41because it was so simple.
01:43Why is it so hard to do?
01:47But Fernando never stopped painting.
01:52I insisted on painting
01:58using my left hand.
02:03I would do it,
02:05but it was so hard.
02:09I put plywood on top of the wheelchair,
02:13and then I gave him a lapis on his left hand,
02:19and he would rotate the paper.
02:22After two years,
02:24his works were displayed in other countries.
02:28And until now,
02:30there are still exhibits.
02:33They are all Filipino subjects,
02:37and mostly countryside,
02:40local life.
02:43That's why when he exhibited in the UN,
02:47he was thanked by his fellow Filipinos
02:50who worked there
02:52because he painted the Philippines so beautifully.
02:58He also continued to share his knowledge
03:00with other students.
03:02He would give comments about our paintings,
03:05and he would joke with us.
03:09This exhibit will be more popular
03:11for the students
03:13because they learned from Mr. Cabigting
03:16about techniques in painting
03:18and it's a learning experience for them.
03:24Fernando Cabigting is an example of perseverance
03:28that even if you get sick,
03:30you can still achieve success.
03:36It's a very inspiring story.
03:38Super inspiring.
03:40No matter how much I practice,
03:42I can't do it with my right hand.
03:45It's a story of hope.
03:47And Kapuso,
03:49it's almost Christmas.
03:53I'm Pia Arcangel.
03:55I'm Arnold Clavio.
03:57I'm Atom Arawlyo.
03:59For a bigger mission,
04:01and for a wider service to the country.
