00:00So, your kids have decided they want to make YouTube videos, but you're probably wondering
00:05what kind of equipment they're going to need, and most importantly, how much is this new
00:08hobby going to cost you? Well, I'm tech writer Matt Morn-Hickson, and to find out the answers,
00:14I spoke to two YouTubers. So the YouTubers I spoke to was Video Essays called Rowan Ellis
00:20from the UK, and a channel called Euro4000, who specialises in making videos about survival
00:27horror video games, and both of them really emphasise that audio is really sort of the
00:33king when it comes to making YouTube videos. We all have phones now, which have pretty
00:38good cameras, so you can get away with, at least, you know, at the start, filming with
00:43your phone, but audio is an area that you don't want to scrimp on. It's sort of the
00:48area that can make the biggest difference when you're starting out making YouTube videos.
00:53So, you need a good mic, but also you've got to think about where you're recording
00:58and the acoustics, what you can do to improve the recording in that area. So, Eurothug told
01:05me that they have soundproof curtains, but before that they used sheets and bedding to
01:10sort of make a booth to improve the quality of their recording sounds. So that's things
01:15to consider if your kid is trying to make YouTube videos.
