00:00President Bongbong Marcos has passed a law that will make foreign digital services providers pay for their services.

00:07Under RA 12023 or Value-Added Tax on Digital Services Law,

00:1312% VAT will be paid to digital services providers,

00:17such as online shopping apps, search engines, and streaming services used by many Filipinos.

00:25According to the President, foreign companies that earn a lot here in the Philippines should be compensated by the government.

00:32It will also be fair to local digital services providers that used to pay 12% VAT.

00:39Exempted from the law are those who provide digital educational services,

00:45such as online courses, webinars, and other services for learning and teaching.

00:52According to the Bureau of Internal Revenue,

00:54the government will be able to collect Php 7 billion in foreign digital services providers by 2025.
