00:00The Department of Social Welfare and Development, or DSWD, has promised to provide assistance to our countrymen
00:06who are affected by the typhoon in the northern part of the country,
00:09particularly in Batanes and Babuyan Islands.
00:12Here is Rod Laguzad's report.
00:16Batanes is now on the way to reach the area
00:19to provide additional assistance after the typhoon Hulian.
00:23According to the Department of Social Welfare and Development,
00:26bottled water is one of the needs of the province.
00:29DSWD Undersecretary Diana Roscajipe explains,
00:32there is still a supply of water in the province,
00:35but it is being avoided to run out.
00:37Which is why we already coordinated this with the Office of Civil Defense.
00:41And of course, the transport of additional goods
00:45like food items or hygiene kits that they need.
00:48Through the help of the Office of Civil Defense,
00:51we are preparing so that a Navy vessel can bring this big amount of goods to Batanes.
00:59According to this, the plan is to use the C-130
01:04to bring the needed bottled water.
01:07But this depends on the weather.
01:09While waiting for the removal of the gale warning,
01:12so that the Navy vessel can be used.
01:14Based on the 11am advisory of Pagasa,
01:16even if the typhoon Hulian is outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility,
01:20the signal No. 1 in Batanes,
01:23Babuyan Group of Islands,
01:24and some parts of Ilocos Norte and Mainland Cagayan are still high.
01:27Ania, it's a big thing that there is a preposition of food packs in Batanes.
01:31Aside from the OCD, the DSWD will also be involved in this.
01:36The report of the Governor is that
01:39there are a lot of houses that were destroyed there.
01:42So we have also coordinated,
01:44because the DSWD is the vice-chief of response,
01:48so we have coordinated with other agencies that may be able to help.
01:52This is also to assess the situation of the houses that were destroyed by the typhoon.
01:56Even if there was no landfall,
01:57a lot of places were affected by the super typhoon,
02:00including Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, and CAR.
02:03According to the DSWD,
02:05more than 45,000 families are affected in three regions.
02:08The largest number here is in Ilocos Region.
02:11The government started distributing relief goods to affected areas in the mainland zone.
02:16More than 600 families are currently staying in evacuation centers.
02:22According to NDRMC,
02:23only one night was lost in CAR,
02:25while only eight nights were injured in Region 2.
02:28There were three totally damaged residents,
02:31and 85 were partially damaged in Region 1, 2, and CAR.
