00:00Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Ohio Senator J.D. Vance faced off in the vice-presidential debate Tuesday night.
00:06Thanks most importantly to the American people who are watching this evening
00:09and caring enough about this country to pay attention to this vice-presidential debate.
00:12So who won? Surveys say it was basically a tie.
00:15Polls from CBS News and CNN gave Vance the edge over Walz 42-41% and 51-49% respectively.
00:23But in both cases, Vance's lead was within the margin of error.
00:26And both polls found that respondents continued to view Walz more favorably.
00:30Interestingly, both polls also showed that both candidates' favorability ratings
00:34increased after the debate, perhaps reflecting the discussion's largely civil tone.
00:39I actually think I agree with you. I think you want to solve this problem.
00:42Much of what the senator said right there, I'm in agreement with him on this.
