Building Brighter Futures: Inside SPJIMR’s Abhyudaya Programme

  • last week
Discover the transformative impact of SPJIMR's Abhyudaya initiative, where mentorship is more than guidance—it's a bridge to a brighter future. This unique program pairs underprivileged youth with SPJIMR PGDM students, who provide personalised mentorship as part of their outside classroom learning experience. Through this interaction, students not only offer academic support and life skills training but also cultivate thoughtful leadership that extends beyond the classroom.

00:00Abhyudaya is an NGO that is part of the SPJMR campus.
00:29We run mentoring and enrichment programs for underprivileged children from the K-West
00:35ward which is the Andheri, Jogeshwari, Juhu area which is around in a five kilometer radius
00:41of the campus.
00:43So the way we do the mentoring program is through the PGDM students, the first year
00:48students.
00:51It's a four credit course which is compulsory and it is part of their non-classroom learning
00:56experience that they get mapped with our children.
01:02Our children we call sitaras which means star.
01:08Mentoring Fatima has taught me that learning is so much more than just going through your
01:17subjects.
01:18So much more about experiencing and learning from each other's experiences.
01:4855% of our sitaras are girls and we're very proud of that.
01:56It's not just the sitaras, it's the community that you're impacting and it really makes
02:01you feel happy at the end of the day but it has to come from the heart.
