00:00What is my favourite Navratri song?
00:09That changes but this one has really stuck around with me.
00:12It's not a popular song and I think it's one of my most favourite compositions ever.
00:18Aalak Maalak To Har To Ne Faar To Aalak Maalak To Har To Ne Faar To Aaveyo Chi Aaj Maano
00:34Garbo Aaveyo Chi Aaj Maano Garbo Garbo Aaveyo Re Ram To Ram To
00:48We try not to sing Bollywood songs but there are a few popular songs which have actually
00:59gained so much more popularity in Garba that they don't feel like a Bollywood song anymore.
01:03Say for example Dholida which was I think from Gangubai then there is Dholitaro Dhol
01:09Baje then there is Nagade Sang Dhol.
01:13So there are a lot of songs which I think have moved on from Bollywood and become Gujarati
01:17songs of their own.
01:18So they have their own identity in Garba.
01:20What do you think is the most important thing for an Indian?
01:25I guess as I previously also used this, as an Indian if you are born and brought up in
01:32the country, if you have well-rooted values, if you grow up with a certain ethic in your
01:37life these things are very much within you.
01:41So you don't have to try to be traditional just because a festival is around the corner.
01:48I believe you should have those values in your everyday life and they should just be
01:55at their optimum best every day.
01:58Every day is Navratri.
01:59Every day is Diwali.
02:00It's how you look at it and of course this is a Navratri interview specifically.
02:05So I think the one thing which can keep you most rooted is you being true to yourself
02:11whether it is Navratri or it is Diwali or it is any festival at all, whatever you believe
02:15in.
02:16If you can look into your eyes in the mirror and smile honestly, I guess you've nailed
02:23every tradition there has to be in the world.
