00:19The role of local governments is very important to reduce the impact of calamities

00:24that can help save the lives of people.

00:27This is what the Department of Science and Technology gave.

00:30In the third year, the Philippines was the first country in the World Risk Index.

00:34The impact of different calamities is not new in the country every year.

00:38Through the hope and fervor of the government,

00:40they were able to provide important information about the natural hazard.

00:44The role of the early warning system is to provide people with time to prepare.

00:50Early warning triggers early action.

00:54The LGUs should know how fast they can evacuate.

00:59Can the community evacuate in 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 1 day?

01:07For example, the hope of a 24-hour rainfall forecast

01:11that can base an LGU on evacuation.

01:14And this is where the preparedness of local governments comes in.

01:18There are also LGUs that can help in disaster mitigation efforts.

01:23Like the GRSP-H, a platform for disaster risk reduction management

01:28that contains important data.

01:30It is important to have localization of innovations

01:33because the role of LGUs is important in making it more effective.

01:37In addition, the DOST and local governments in Sucsargen

01:41agreed on a Memorandum of Understanding.

01:43This includes strengthening the disaster resilience of LGUs

01:47with the help of science, as well as capacity building.

01:52The GRSP-H platform can help in planning.
