00:00On the 4th day of filing the Certificate of Candidacy, let's find out who formally filed their candidacy as a Senator
00:10and what party-list groups will be included in Hato ng Bayan 2025.
00:15This is Joshua Garcia live.
00:18Joshua?
00:20Yes, Ma'am.
00:21Ma'am, there are a lot of people who filed their candidacy on the 4th day of filing the Certificate of Candidacy for the 2025 National and Local Elections.
00:33Ma'am, there are 33 people who filed their candidacy here in Manila, Hotel Tent City,
00:38of which 18 are Senators and 15 are party-lists.
00:42Buzzer Beater, who ran before the COC closed, filed his candidacy today,
00:46Caglioti de Guzman, who ran for President in 2022,
00:50who is now running for Senator.
00:53Political Dynasty is the name of his platform.
00:56This is the reason why no one is changing in the country, especially in the situation of the citizens.
01:00If he were to run, he would address the problems of corruption, high electricity, expensive rice, and many more.
01:07Earlier this morning, Ma'am, there were also some well-known personalities who filed their candidacy,
01:11such as Las Piñas Representative Camille Villar,
01:14who will continue to support programs for giving livelihoods to Filipinos,
01:18which were started by her parents.
01:20Education and well-being are the goals of Makati Mayor Abby Binay, who will run for Senate.
01:25Meanwhile, one of those who ran was One Rider Party-List Representative Bonifacio Bosita,
01:31who only recently made a decision after being consulted by his family to run for Senator.
01:38In total, since October 1, the first day of the filing of the COC,
01:42there are already 58 who have filed their candidacy for Senator,
01:47while 50 are on the party list.
01:50After the press conference led by Comileg Chairman Atty. George Garcia,
01:57there are some important issues being discussed,
02:00such as the withdrawal of the St. Timothy Construction Company,
02:04which is a part of the Local Joint Ventures Mero System.
02:08According to Comileg, in their NBank Resolution,
02:12the project will continue and there will be no problems despite the withdrawal of the company.
02:17They will also follow the recommendations of the law department
02:20where the remaining partners should continue,
02:24such as the payment of equal or equivalent net financial contracting capacity or credit line
02:31at least 10% within three days with a penalty if it is not followed,
02:38to ensure that there will be no hindrance to the deliverables of the Local Joint Ventures Mero System.
02:44Another issue being discussed is whether the candidacy will be accepted
02:50even if the former Bamban Mayor, Alice Guwot, will hire the COC.
02:54According to Comileg, they will accept it, but they will limit it to three grounds.
02:59First, to be a nuisance candidate.
03:01Second, if there is a petition to cancel or deny candidacy.
03:05And this is the most crucial one,
03:07the decision of the Office of the Ombudsman to perpetually disqualify
03:11that there is a commission from different provinces.
03:15And according to the commission,
03:17even if they do not receive a temporary restraining order from the Court of Appeals,
03:24they are assured that this will be their decision.
03:27According to Comileg, there are already 160 candidates
03:32who are expected to file on the first days of the party list
03:37and there are more than 100 senators.
03:39So, according to their assessment, it is a bit vague.
03:41But even so, the commission is happy because no one reported
03:45any incident or any election-related violence in the country.
03:52And the commission hopes that this situation will continue to be peaceful
03:57even in the coming days.
03:59Ma'am?
04:00Joshua, this weekend, Saturday and Sunday,
04:04will the COC continue to harass
04:07and when will it be said that the candidates for the Certificate of Candidacy
04:13or the last-minute filing will happen?
04:16And is Comileg ready for this?
04:20Yes, Ma'am.
04:21This will continue over the weekend.
04:23And regarding the day when the candidates for the COC will be harassed,
04:27we asked Comileg's spokesperson, Atty. Rex Laudianco,
04:32and according to him, it will normally be on the last day or on October 8.
04:37Because most of the candidates have a lucky number, 8.
04:44And the commission assured that they are ready to harass the candidates.
04:49Ma'am?
04:50Alright. Thank you very much, Joshua Garcia.
