00:00The government formed a committee to resolve the discrepancy of the Metro Manila Subway due to the right-of-way problem.

00:11The stations of the North-South Commuter Railway between Valenzuela and Bulacan were already built but when will it be operational?

00:21Bernadette Reyes is on the scene.

00:23In the installation of these concrete sections, the stations of West Valenzuela, Maycawayan, Marilao and Bukawe, as well as Malanday Depot,

00:38in the stations of Balagtas, Giginto, and Malolos, as part of Phase 1 of the North-South Commuter Railway Project,

00:45DOTR Secretary Jaime Bautista and Japanese Ambassador Endo Kazuya witnessed it.

00:52As of 2028, the target is for the portion of Valenzuela to Clark to be partially operational.

00:58Japan International Cooperation Agency, or JICA, is also helping to ensure that the project will be funded.

01:05We would like to do our best effort to make side support to speed up.

01:09Another issue is budget allocation.

01:12In this term, again, we are doing very strong indirect support through the DBM.

01:19The North-South Commuter Railway will connect Clark and Calamba.

01:22And the previous four-hour journey for this will be only two hours.

01:27800,000 passengers are expected to benefit from this every day.

01:32DOTR and JICA also demonstrated the Fabrication Yard in Baliwag, Bulacan of the Metro Manila Subway Project.

01:40This is where the tunnel segments that will be used in the subway are made.

01:44From here in the Fabrication Yard in Baliwag, Bulacan,

01:47these tunnel segments made of steel and concrete will be transported,

01:51which will be used for the construction of the Anonas and Camp Aguinaldo subway station.

01:57When it becomes operational, the journey from Valenzuela to Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal,

02:04which is now one and a half hours, will be just 41 minutes.

02:09More than half a million passengers are expected to benefit from this every day.

02:13And the partial operation is expected to start in 2028.

02:17It's a good project. Many will benefit from it.

02:22Many will travel comfortably.

02:27And of course, I will see to it that the fares will be affordable also.

02:34But the two said projects are facing problems in the right-of-way.

02:39The subway project, for example, even if it's underground, will affect more than 40 houses.

02:45The Interagency Committee was formed to address problems like this.

02:50If it's not delivered, there will be a delay.

02:53In fact, that's one of the major reasons why our projects were delayed.

02:59For the MMSP, we still have a lot of right-of-way problems in the NSER,

03:05particularly in San Fernando, Pampanga.

03:08But our work there is continuous.

03:16We're working. We're being helped by different government agencies.
