00:00Hello and welcome to the video. In this video I'm making a new door. I'm just building this
00:07part and I'll show you the actual door I'm making. It's a door for Mitali the werewolf.
00:15So I need to work on each kind of door individually and separate. So each door as I said in my
00:23game world if you're watching the videos towards the story. You'll see me kind of try
00:29to explain more or less how it's going to kind of work. Of course I don't want to give
00:34you the full story because it's going to spoil the whole game. And yeah you're going to know
00:40what to expect. So as I said this is like a video tutorial log. So these videos are
00:47pretty long just to let you know that. But I do show you how to basically build and customise
00:52the door. I'm using the up arrow key on the left side of the keyboard and I'm using a
01:00mouse. So if I say left click right click I'm actually using a mouse on the laptop.
01:08So all I'm doing is holding the up arrow key. Select the points with your left mouse button
01:15and press F. So that's all I'm doing. Sometimes I'll go quiet and yeah. So just to let you
01:23know that. I've got the snivels I really truly apologise for it. I can't do nothing else.
01:28I apologise for it. So this here is a really very skinny window. So I need to build a couple
01:37of these because I need to join them together. It's not only going to be a window. As I said
01:40all of my models, all of my templates, they're more than one thing. They really are. Now
01:47I'll tell you on all my assets I go here apply more transforms and I'll leave it like that.
01:52The most important thing in BlendApp is to go in here turn back faces on. If you turn
01:57it on turn it off. If you watch your geometry you can turn it around. Watch the geometry.
02:04Now if it doesn't change that's great. But sometimes later on even though it looks perfect
02:10at the moment. As I said just turn it on and off. You see that look. All of that is inside out.
02:20You see it looks perfectly fine look but actually it's actually inside out. So I figured
02:27erm that's not good. So now later on Blender is going to flip that inside out again when I save
02:36it. So I can fix it now. I can fix it again later. It doesn't matter how many times you fix it.
02:41You have to keep fixing it. So go here. Go into faces. If I look at all of the faces. So I want
02:48all of the top faces. So basically I want to put it on the flat. Select everything.
02:55So I'm selecting all the points. That's what I want to do. Now if I select all the points it's
03:01going to do the sides as well. I can't do that. Select all the faces. Left click hold ready.
03:07Go here and flip the faces. It looks the same. It does look the same but it's not. It's different.
03:14It's flat. It's not flat. I mean you know what I mean. It's facing the right way. So you flip
03:20it over so it faces towards you. Look at that side. Of course I've made a mistake on that one.
03:26Go back here. Flip it. Flip the one over there back to front as well. You see how you've been
03:33giving a hole in it. There's no hole in it. It's just the face is actually the wrong way.
03:39So that's the mirror glass. Now you see the side of it. It's actually inside the actual mirror.
03:46It's actually facing inside. That's correct. Don't face that outside because when you turn
03:52into a piece of glass you have to go around the wrong corner. Make sure that all the edges
04:01are facing the correct way. So as I said I'm trying to get the sliver down to the bare minimum.
04:12You see how these ones are not actually kind of the same colour as that. They're not actually
04:19white or grey. However you want to look at it. Go around it. Select all the edges. Not that one.
04:33I almost selected that one over there.
04:34But I don't want that. As I said when you do a lot of preparation work for the model
04:43sometimes it can be kind of long and I suppose you could say boring. But when you get to the
04:51end of the model and you kind of look at it I think yeah it's kind of a long way to do it.
04:56Now in all honesty how you would actually make this ring. You'd make a template, put it on the
05:01floor and just extrude it. I take the same width as this. That way you won't have to do this.
05:07But that's defeating the object. The whole idea of it is to show you that everything is made from
05:14scratch. And to show the torrent. You see how they're facing towards me now. Now of course the
05:25ones inside this side and the ones on this side here around the edge I don't actually need them.
05:32But I do if I'm going to turn it into something else which I will later. So temporarily I'm going
05:39to leave this ring like this because I want to keep the ring. When you see the door in a moment
05:45I said this is the very first beginning of the door. So at first look you're going to think well
05:53that's not really too impressive. Yeah it won't become too impressive until I start
05:58assembling the door and then I start animating it and then I'll throw a few characters in there
06:04in the level and then they all start interacting bringing things to life. Of course that's when
06:12all the good stuff starts happening. That's when you're thinking ah now I see why you made the door.
06:19I said each door has its own story to it basically just like a character. All my characters have
06:24their own story. Every single possible space in my end world has to do something. It has to
06:31interact in some way or another. So pick those ones. Now really you wouldn't flip them around
06:38but I'm going to flip these ones around and in all honesty you'd actually delete these ones
06:43but I want to flip them around. You see they look like a nice clean ring.
06:47So what I want to do I want to click on this ring. I want to call this small ring free.
06:55So I'm going to press CTRL C. I don't want to copy the name. I said in a moment you might start
07:03really liking the content because I'm going to start actually building the actual template.
07:09So I'm going to save it as an obj. All my templates are here. I said each time I make a new model
07:17I basically save it as an obj and a template and a blender template basically.
07:24It's not really a blender template it's an emma template but I'd say blender. So measure your door.
07:30So this is the door frame. Now if you've already downloaded the model that's absolutely great.
07:36Now the idea first would be realistically to actually save your first door. So this
07:44would actually be number one so we could save that. But not only is it number one it's also
07:53door number two.
07:58So and then of course we want door number one number two yeah and then we want door number three.
08:04But it doesn't matter we're going to work on this door here. So I want to build the doors in reverse.
08:09I want to delete the light. What's that? Click on the light. I'm going to delete the light so
08:17confuse things. Okay so this is my template. This is my door. This is my framework. I'll show you
08:25that at the moment. If you've already downloaded that this this thing here is absolutely great.
08:30Now if you've got a full scale human in the game a proper human being obviously you see the square
08:38on the floor that's a perfect square that's like one foot basically one human foot. So if you bring
08:45a full size human in here the squares are perfect they're like slabs on the floor basically. So if
08:50you want to count how far you're walking in the game just count the slabs if you want to. But of
08:56course the game is massive so you're not going to be counting those slabs. So first of all as I say
09:01you want to bring in the door frame but we don't want the door frame we need the door. To put the
09:06ring on the door we need to go into transparent mode. So press this one and this one so you can
09:12actually see from the door. So this is my template door. Now what I want to do because I've already
09:18made the ring I want to copy the ring. I can't copy in any mode go to this mode go here. I said
09:26copy paste it. Now of course it's up here so drag it down here. Go here set origin to geometry so
09:34we go to the middle of it. Now you want to bring it up you see where x marks the spot. I'm using
09:41that as a guideline so I'm going to dump that right in the middle of there. So I'm going to look at this
09:47part I'm thinking yep that's perfect so I'm thinking okay so now what I want to do is right click on it
09:52I want to copy it and I want to right click and paste it. I want to bring this down so what I'm
09:57going to do I'm going to put three circles inside the door. Now of course you've probably seen this
10:06before somewhere else but probably not or realistically I think but I haven't seen it
10:10anywhere else so I think I did it from my level. As I said make sure both of them are kind of all the same
10:16so put these in here and then we're going to select all three of them we're going to go
10:22into here objects and join them. Now sometimes if you go into join them and it's all grey
10:29you have to select each you have to hold ctrl on the keyboard if you if you can't join them for
10:34some reason hold ctrl right on the keyboard and click each one and then go here and then you can
10:40join it. As I said it don't always work like that so here here's my actual door frame
10:49as I said I'm trying to keep the videos not too long but not too short because obviously
10:55I've got limitations on my video memory so now what I need to do is glue them to the door
11:02without deleting this middle line here. I can delete the middle line but I need to join it here
11:08so now what I need to do is edit the door frame but before I edit the door frame and join the
11:14windows to it make sure it looks great. What we need to do is join the circles so of course
11:21flip it around to whatever view you want. Now these are all one piece so what I can do here
11:27I'm in wire mode so it doesn't matter. I'm going to click on the rings
11:32here edit now because I'm in face mode I want to go into point mode I want to select these points
11:39and because I'm in back because I've got the transparent on it will select back and front
11:44and I want to delete it. You see how it goes there I want to go here and I'm going to delete it. Now
11:51you see how it kind of joins like that I think that's quite perfectly great. I like that don't
11:56join it in wireframe because it's going to join it wrong. Go back to the top look here
12:08I think now this is how the window is going to look it's called the free moon
12:13yeah it's called the free moons that's what it's called so I think it obviously I'm just
12:18trying to make some difference on content for my youtube channel that's what I'm trying to do.
12:23Now when you go into this part just click the little dot so your camera rotates around that
12:29little dot. Take this one and this one this one and this one join it with this one this one this
12:37one and this one you've got to hold your power key that's on the keyboard after you've done that let
12:41go and then press f press this one this one this one and this one let go of the go with your power
12:49press f join that that that and that that's f spinning around have a good look at it makes you
12:55it all kind of looking nice making sure back faces are turned on because I don't want to come back
13:01later on and find out it's all back to front it doesn't really matter but I want it back to front
13:07so as I said I will tell you the keys every now and then just in case you know there's a sound
13:13problem with my sound card but sometimes there is a problem with it and you can't quite hear one thing
13:19but you can hear when I've got the snivels so I really truly apologize for it
13:23I said I've had it for months I can't get rid of it really so just go to here and then just
13:29just join up this so this is meant for making basically of the of the window glass
13:40at the werewolf level so do that I said you know it's just a different type of door that's what
13:46it is so I'm thinking okay so because eventually at some point it's like I say in my videos not
13:53because I'm planning on doing it but it's going to happen it's without attempt it's going to happen
13:59I'm going to make some content that's going to look like someone else's so I'm trying to
14:03do the video logs so you can kind of see that I am actually building the genuine content from scratch
14:09so that's what I'm doing now of course inside there that's going to be a mission to do that
14:15I need to put some glass in that
14:19now of course you might think well how are you going to put a piece of glass in that
14:23so what I'm going to try and do I've never done this before so I'm going to try click here
14:29oh hang on I want to wrap the glass around it like this
14:35but I don't really want to do it I do want to do that I want to do that I'm going to put another
14:40here and I'm going to press F on the keyboard to fill the face
14:47now what I want to do is the same here and press F on the keyboard to fill that face
14:53so it looks like that that looks like a crazy window anyway it's a different type of window
15:00so first of all I need to look at the front and back so click phases click on this face here
15:07let me click off it first so go back go back to click the model click off it
15:15and then click edit click the face I should have had to click on that face
15:22and I should have had to flip it so if I go here flip face and flip it so the white side
15:28faces towards me that's where I turn the faces over on the inside of that
15:32that the faces inside here that's why I turn them over because when it's a sheet of glass
15:37you're going to be able to see that you know what I'm actually quite impressed with that
15:42realistically I think yep so here's my free moon glass from a free moon door
15:51so imagine now you're going to have that actually on the door of course it's actually inside the
15:56door you can't see because it's too skinny but you will see in a moment when I actually scale it up
16:02so as I said I don't make the video too long so all I'm going to do is to attach all these edges
16:10to the actual four corners of the door so we're going to do that in video two and I've got to
16:17make sure that when I take the door I'm going to edit that line I can't delete that line I've got
16:22to keep that line the reason why I keep the line for is because when I put the door handle on it
16:28all my door handles are in the same place so no matter what door you look at all my door handles
16:35are in exactly the same place just let you know that so anyway as I said I can leave the video
16:41recorded so as I said I can leave it recorded but I don't want it to crash and then obviously
16:47I'm going to redo the video so I'm going to pause this video here so this is going to be editing
16:52the door part so come back in part two and watch me edit the door for the glass okay
