दिल्ली: विदेश मंत्री एस जयशंकर ने कौटिल्य आर्थिक सम्मेलन में कहा कि तीसरे कार्यकाल में पीएम मोदी ने पुतिन और जेलेंस्की दोनों से मुलाकात भी की और उसके अलावा भी बातचीत की। हमारे ऐसा करने के पीछे कारण ये है कि हम दुनिया के उन कुछ देशों और पीएम मोदी दुनिया के उन चुनिंदा नेताओं में से हैं जो एक ही वक्त में आज मॉस्को जाने और दोनों नेताओं से बातचीत करने की क्षमता रखते हैं।

00:00day and age and the nature of globalization and the stakes involved and the impact that
00:05it has on the entire world, especially on the global south, those who can try to make
00:10a difference should try and do it.
00:13And to some extent that's been the logic, the driving force, the thinking behind some
00:20of our activities, say for example, in respect of Ukraine, which is in the last few months
00:27we have actually had Prime Minister meet President Zelensky three times.
00:34This is in his third term, since June.
00:38He has met Putin once, he has spoken to him more often and the NSA and myself, we've been
00:44in touch.
00:45And the reason we are doing it is we are one of the few countries, and Prime Minister Modi
00:50is one of the few leaders, who today has the ability to actually go to Kiev and Moscow
00:56and talk to the two leaders and see are there common points, is there something we can start,
01:01is there some convergence, some intersection that we can see, which can become a strand
01:06which you pick up and try and develop and see whether things could be better than they
01:13are.
01:14I mean, surely they can't be worse than they are.
01:19Middle East is more tricky in a way, because the conflict itself is, there are more parties,
01:26not all of them are formal, and not all of them acknowledge their role in what they are
01:32doing.
01:33But again, it's not that we have been uninvolved, I mean, at various times we have played some
01:46role, if nothing else, in communication between countries, some of whom for political, historical
01:54reasons don't communicate with each other.
01:57So there is that.
01:59So I would say, you know, the reason, again, I connect it up with your Global South observation.
02:05The Global South is, because it is the Global South, feeling the pain much more of a global
02:14society and a global economy under stress.
02:18They would like somebody to do something about it, to the extent that you have a country
02:23like India, which understands, you know, which is coming, in a sense, from that family, which
02:28understands their concerns, is able to put it across, I think they're very happy about it.
02:34They do, you know, clearly support a lot of our initiatives.
02:42It was very visible in the UN.
02:44From an Indian perspective, what do we get out of it?
02:48I do think, I think it's in the nature of our situation, the manner, the way in which
02:54we are trying to manage our eyes, is that it's important that we are really connected
03:00to all the major players.
03:02We are seen as a country with a greater sense of responsibility towards the global polity.
03:09And it's, you know, it's part of India's own, I would say, evolution.
