With solo dining and travel on the rise according to Google searches, we ask Birmingham residents if they’d ever consider doing things on their own. Would they feel confident or self-conscious? For those who’ve done it before, we explore their experiences. 00:00Myself, I'd love to go solo if I could, but the name of the game is because of my disabilities I can't.
00:05So that's what it is. I love solo dancing to have a bit of fun, but that's what it's all about.
00:09But communication is more important to me than anything, because if I do collapse I've got to warn somebody.
00:14So solo can be good, as long as you've got ID or something on you just in case something happens to you.
00:19I think people that travel solo, I give my hat off to them.
00:23I think it's really good and I think they're making the best of everything.
00:29I'm in two minds as if travelling solo, because I think more of a woman of my age it's a bit more difficult travelling on your own.
00:38If I was younger, yes I would embrace it and I would love it.
00:42And if I went anywhere I think it would be a train trip through Europe.
00:46I would consider it. I have done it.
00:50In the early 90s I travelled around Australia on my own for six months.
00:55Enjoyed it immensely. Met loads of people. Had a great time.
