00:00I'm here at Redland, east of Brisbane, where Premier Stephen Miles is mingling with locals
00:07at a netball club ahead of polling day on October 26th.
00:11Nearby earlier he just pledged $1.6 billion for the Redland Hospital if Labor is re-elected.
00:19That would see 181 new beds built at the facility, two new operating theatres and a brand new
00:25emergency department.
00:27Mr Miles says the investment is vital.
00:29Our population is growing rapidly and to meet the health needs of that growing population
00:36we need to grow our hospitals too.
00:39And that's what our 3,400 new beds in our hospitals will do.
00:45Now Mr Miles made the announcement from the electorate of Ujuru.
00:48It's a marginal LNP seat held since 2009 by MP Mark Robinson.
00:54Mr Robinson is retiring and the LNP will be hoping to retain the seat with its candidate
00:59high profile former senator Amanda Stoker.
