00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World, my name's Theo Huston-Betts and this video is
00:03your transport update for this week in and around Manchester. Now I'm filming
00:07this on a Monday so with any luck nothing will change until next week but
00:11if you want to double-check we do have a transport tab on the Manchester World
00:13website which is updated frequently. Now let's get into some of this week's news.
00:17We'll start with the M67 motorway which was closed over last weekend in the
00:21Tameside area to allow for the demolition of a bridge over the road.
00:24The closure took place between junction 1A for Denton and junction 3 for Hyde
00:28and goes in both directions. This is because the St Anne's Bridge, which is
00:31the one being demolished, required extensive structural repairs. The reason
00:35we're talking about it now is because another closure of the same area is
00:37scheduled to take place one month from now between November 8th and the 11th. So
00:41if you're planning on making that journey early next month, make sure you've
00:44worked out some alternate routes just in case of trouble.
00:47Speaking of repairs, works are still ongoing to fix the tracks near Aldonshore
00:51after last month's freight train derailment between Stockport and
00:53Stalybridge. Nine of the train's 24 wagons came off the track and caused
00:57substantial damage, though nobody was hurt. It's expected it'll be another
01:00month before the works are complete, with some disruption expected over the next
01:03few weeks. On to a more functional update, and the B network is set to undergo an
01:07overhaul of the ticketing system in 2025. Daily tickets will be capped at £9.50 for
01:11unlimited travel around Greater Manchester, while single tickets will
01:13still be like £2 for the buses. Different zones on the Metrolink system
01:17can make things a little bit complex, but have a quick look at our website and
01:21you'll see what you need to know. Finally, there's a piece from Ethan Davies on our
01:23website. He spent all of last month travelling around the city using
01:26exclusively the B bikes, and it's a fascinating insight into their
01:29convenience and some of their problems. Because although the bikes are fairly
01:32cheap and can be found fairly easily, there is an issue with the stations that
01:36you need to leave them at, because failing to drop them at a station leads
01:38to a £10 fine, but there are only limited spaces available, and if they're
01:42full when you're in a rush, it can turn a cheap, convenient ride into an expensive,
01:45messy nightmare. Now that's everything that we've got for you today, but as I
01:49said, there will be plenty of updates unloaded on our website over the course
01:51of the week, so keep an eye out for that. Thank you very much for watching, I'm
01:54Theo Huston-Betts with Manchester World, and I'll be back with another travel
01:57update sometime next week. Thanks for watching!
