As children in London and Wales benefit from Universal Free School Meals, families in other parts of the UK face strict eligibility criteria. We ask Birmingham locals if they think this is fair. Should access to free school meals be a nationwide priority? How do they feel the current system impacts children’s health, wellbeing, and education?

00:00Well I think free school meals and free milk and drinks should be given to every child
00:05in the UK. They are our future generation and children going to school on an empty stomach
00:12are not going to work very well, they're not going to be able to concentrate and basically
00:17that's our future gone. So I think we should make sure that every child has got at least
00:23a good breakfast in their bellies so they can do some work in class.
00:29I think it encourages children to bond together and there not to be yet another thing that
00:37they can differentiate themselves from each other about and I think it leads to happiness
00:44and unity and general wealth, a good feeling amongst kids. They all kind of are the same
00:52and I think this is something that is a definite thing that we should have.
