00:00After almost four decades, the Sandigang Bayan tried to get back the cases against the Marcos.

00:06The cases against Rizal, Baguio, Makati, Manila, and California in America.

00:11Not because of the merit, but because of the delay in the case

00:15that was one of the many cases filed against the Marcos.

00:19Maki Pulido was able to get it.

00:22Following the dissolution of the Marcos in 1986,

00:27the cases filed against them followed one another.

00:30Including the one filed by the Presidential Commission on Good Government on July 21, 1987

00:36against the former President Ferdinand Marcos and the former First Lady Imelda Marcos.

00:41This particular case is a far cry from the part of the wealth of the Marcos

00:46that was obtained using a Roman Cruz as a dummy.

00:50This includes the Pinugay Estate in Tanay Rizal, which is the original property of the Government Service Insurance System, or GSIS,

00:58which was headed by Cruz.

01:00As well as two lots and two condo units in Baguio,

01:03one residential building in Makati,

01:05one residential lot in Manila,

01:07and one lot and six condo units in California.

01:11The Office of the Solicitor General was forced by the Marcos' wife and Cruz

01:16to run away in order to get the properties of the Marcos.

01:20This amounted to P276 million pesos,

01:24which in the case filed did not match the legal earnings of the Marcos' wife.

01:29But after 37 years, the case was dismissed by the Sandigan Bayan Second Division.

01:35According to the court, it is clear that the rights of the accused were violated in the quick resolution of the case

01:42because it can be seen in the record of the court the lack of effort of those who filed the case.

01:47It was also pointed out that the trial for this case is not yet starting

01:52and two decades have already passed since the pre-trial was suspended.

01:56How long will it take for the court to decide?

02:00The accused are not used to the fact that the justice system is rolling

02:05even though the case will be quickened in due time.

02:09Because more than three decades have passed,

02:12the Sandigan Bayan said that the accused will not be able to receive a fair trial

02:16because there are witnesses who may have died and documents that may not be found.

02:22Imelda Marcos is also 95 years old,

02:25so her memories may not be clear and her health may be affected.

02:30And because 53 years have passed since the connection transaction took place,

02:35Marcos Senior's followers are still minors,

02:38so it will be difficult for them to gather evidence to defend themselves.

02:43The PCGG said that they have already received the Sandigan Bayan Resolution

02:47and they will consult the Office of the Solicitor General for a possible legal action or remedy.

02:56The mentioned case is just one of the cases filed against Marcos

03:07There are 85 more cases being heard against Marcos,

03:11aside from the first cases that were decided by various courts.

03:15Although some of the cases were favored by Marcos, some were also defeated,

03:19including the guilty verdict of Sandigan Bayan in 2018

03:22in the first case for the illegal transfer of 200 million dollars

03:27to the Swiss Foundation when he was the Metropolitan Manila Governor.

03:31The sentence of 6 to 11 years in prison has not been fulfilled.
