00:00But if you like practice, what were they doing?
00:03Practice overall good, you know what I'm saying?
00:04Just coming up with the scheme-wise
00:07and coming down with a game plan on third down for, really.
00:11I think we got a good plan going into this game.
00:14What stands out about their defense when you watch it?
00:16Really, they're out front, man, they're D-line.
00:18They got a great D-line, two great ends right now,
00:20and, you know, they're playing good football out front.
00:23How does that impact you or your mentality
00:26when you know that the offensive line
00:27is going to have to deal with that front?
00:29Yeah, I believe in our guys out front, man.
00:31They've been playing outstanding football lately.
00:35That's the reason why we got those guys,
00:36and especially going up against this front,
00:40you know, and especially in this division,
00:41we see good fronts every game.
00:44So it's just another chance for those guys
00:46to prove that they can play.
00:48You know Malik at all?
00:50Do you have a relationship with him?
00:52Yeah, I worked out with him during this offseason.
00:56We got a chance to hang out a little bit outside of football.
01:00So we sent each other a text before the week,
01:01you know, so finally I told him I wanted his jersey.
01:03So, you know, so nothing too much.
01:06Does he remind you of you at all?
01:08I've been told. I've been told.
01:09I haven't really sat there and watched his film
01:11for all the way yet because it's been so much on my end.
01:15But, no, I've been hearing it a lot.
01:17What's it like to hear that somebody
01:18who's now compared to you,
01:20like not been playing for a few years,
01:21what's it like to hear that?
01:23Make me feel like I'm getting old, you know what I'm saying?
01:25I don't want to hear that yet, you know what I'm saying?
01:26But Malik Nibbles got his own name, of course,
01:28but he's definitely an outstanding player.
01:30Are you hoping that he plays one Sunday?
01:32So you all can kind of both be on the field?
01:34I'm hoping that he plays, but I'd rather him be healthy
01:38more than anything, you know what I'm saying?
01:39And in the long run, that's what it's all about.
01:43He's playing a night game in New York.
01:44Is that kind of going to get the juices flowing a little bit
01:48playing in the big city?
01:50I don't know, man.
01:52I'm the type to get hype over what we play at.
01:56I really just feel like it's another game
01:57against another good DB.
01:59We got to face another secondary.
02:01I actually know one of the other cornerbacks,
02:03Cardell Flott, with that last year with him,
02:05so I think it'll be a good game with great matchups.
02:09So you're not the type to get hyped
02:10about where you're playing.
02:12What does get you hyped up?
02:15Through playing football and having fun,
02:17you know what I'm saying?
02:18I feel like that's what gets me hyped the most,
02:21playing with my guys and having fun and just making plays,
02:24because really when you're having fun in football,
02:26that's when you're winning and playing at your best.
02:29The stretch of the offense is on right now, Jamar.
02:32Is this the best you guys have played
02:35all-time league stretch since you've been here?
02:40No. We went to the Super Bowl about a year,
02:42and we was going on good runs then, you know what I'm saying?
02:44So we can do better than what we're doing now.
02:47We just got to fix a couple runs
02:49into the end of the game, you know?
02:51So defense get better.
02:53Offense keeps going on third down.
02:55I mean, scoring in the red zone and making plays that we can.
02:58Joe talked about how the offense needs to play a certain level.
03:02Do you feel any extra pressure to make sure
03:05that you all score each time out
03:06or make sure that you all perform as high as you possibly can
03:08to make sure that you all are in good positions in the field?
03:10Any extra pressure given where you all are at right now?
03:13It's not really pressure, man.
03:14It's just being comfortable
03:16and doing what we say we're going to do.
03:18We know what we're capable of in this offense.
03:21We know the guys that we have, the playmakers that we have.
03:23We just got to use them the best way we can
03:25and get those guys in space with the ball in their hands.
03:28Zach said after Sunday's game
03:29that anybody who writes this team off,
03:31even though you're one and four, would be dumb.
03:34Well, I'm assuming you agree with that.
03:36If so, why?
03:37Yeah. Like I said, it was the last one, man.
03:40We just got a lot of playmakers, you know what I'm saying?
03:41Everyone knows that we're a great offensive team,
03:45and we always start slow without defense.
03:47They always get it back at the end of the season
03:49and pick up their pace.
03:53I feel like it won't be too long until we turn this thing around.
03:56I know we started off slow, but we're right there.
03:59This is kind of uncharted territory.
04:01I'm sure you've never been one and four.
04:03How is the mentality?
04:06Does it change at one and four going into a must-win,
04:08or is it the same?
04:12Yes, it changes, and it doesn't change.
04:14You know what I'm saying?
04:15You still want to have your same mindset
04:18for yourself going into the game,
04:20but as a team-wise, it has to change of just staying,
04:23sticking together, playing harder,
04:26keeping everyone accountable, and, you know,
04:28that's the small things.
04:29Joe talked yesterday about, you know,
04:31he's still not spinning it maybe the way he wants,
04:33and he's still kind of getting back to that fluorescent dream.
04:36What's it like as a guy who's caught his pass
04:38for so many years?
04:39What's that adjustment been like for you
04:40on the balls coming in and how you've had to adjust to him
04:43as he's recovering?
04:44Yeah.
04:46I can't sit here and say that the difference in his passes
04:51have been, like, different,
04:53because me and him is really just, like,
04:56a lot of timing, you know what I'm saying?
04:58I got to be ready to turn my head
04:59when I get this route or this route,
05:01so when me and Joe is really timed,
05:03I could care less of how the ball's coming at me.
05:05I know he might have, like, a ball where it might get tipped
05:07or, like, a little bad one every here and there,
05:09but I don't really see much of a difference,
05:12you know what I'm saying, like, in the timing-wise.
05:14What's it like as a receiver knowing that,
05:15you know, he's going to throw it so early in your route,
05:17like, you may be before your second break,
05:19and the ball's going to be out,
05:21and you just trust that it's going to go to a spot?
05:22What's it like as a receiver?
05:24Honestly, bro, I don't even know.
05:26I didn't even know he threw the ball that early last game
05:28until after the game somebody was telling me he threw it,
05:30and I wasn't breaking, but usually as a receiver, bro,
05:33you just got to worry about your position and your job
05:36and just be accountable at your job, get open,
05:39and then let the quarterback just throw you open,
05:41you know what I'm saying, at the end of the day,
05:42and that was just one of those plays
05:44where I just looked up, and the ball was floating in the air,
05:46you know, so one of those.
05:48You always expect every time you step out on the field
05:51to make an impact play, but has there been anything,
05:55whether it be the Commander's game,
05:58the Panthers game, and this past game,
06:00where you've honestly shocked yourself
06:03that you were able to score on a play?
06:05Has there been one of those for you
06:07that you were like, wow?
06:10Probably the Panthers play.
06:12It struck me by surprise.
06:13I wasn't expecting to score that.
06:16I wasn't even expecting really to get the ball
06:18on that play, if I'm being honest,
06:19so that was not really, you know?
06:22What were you at in the progression on that?
06:23Last.
06:25I wasn't expecting it at all, so he snuffed all the way back.
06:30On the long screen touchdown, on a play like that,
06:32where you make a cut or a turn, and you see all that green
06:35in front of you, what's that feeling like in that moment?
06:39Just run to the open space, man.
06:41Just run to the open space as fast as I can,
06:43and just get a feel for who's around me.
06:47That 70 yard, when you split the tight ends, I guess,
06:51are you thinking you'd have a...
06:52What did you think you were going to see?
06:56I don't know.
06:57Usually Baltimore are one of the teams that cheats the bubbles.
06:59They call it out, even when we're lining up.
07:02I don't know.
07:05I just try to hurry up and get my hands on the ball
07:07and square my shoulders up so I can see downfield,
07:10and as soon as I did that, it was already a crease there
07:13for me as I was leaning forward,
07:15and all my momentum just took me through.
07:17I mean, I guess you feel like you outrun anybody, I guess.
07:22Yeah.
07:24Yeah, a couple people, yeah.
07:27No receiver's ever had 60-plus touchdowns
07:30in three straight games.
07:31You got two.
07:33Think you got another one in you?
07:35I got more in the tank.
07:36Don't know how it's going to happen,
07:37but I'm going to get there, hopefully.
07:39You said you didn't care about the wear, New York,
07:41but does the win matter?
07:43It's a standalone game on national TV.
07:45Is there something to you guys wanting to show the country
07:48that you're not a one-in-14, you're better than that?
07:52I think we proved that last game, you know what I'm saying?
07:55But, I mean, numbers don't lie, of course,
07:58but I think we proved that we still can play in this league
08:02and that we're still playoff team caliber,
08:05you know what I'm saying, at the end of the day,
08:06and everyone knows that
08:07just because of the playmakers we have,
08:09and, you know, we got faith in our defense.
08:10Once the defense get picking up,
08:12then we'll lift off from here.
08:14You mentioned the defense.
08:15There's been criticism for the number of points
08:17they've given up and things like that.
08:18Is there anything you feel like, as an offensive guy,
08:21that you can say or do at practice
08:23or whatever it might be, say to those guys
08:25to try to bring them along,
08:27get them to where they want to be?
08:31I can't really say too much,
08:35besides probably picking at a certain receiver route
08:38or what he does best,
08:40probably to one of the corners of Nichols,
08:42one of the guys like that,
08:44and just give them small tendencies.
08:45But other than that, I can't really say much
08:47on the defensive side perspective.
08:49What gives you the confidence that they will get back
08:51to where they came from?
08:53Yeah, I've seen it happen, you know what I'm saying?
08:54I've seen us be at the worst, you know what I'm saying,
08:57build from it.
08:58This is one of those moments, and I know we can do it
09:02just because the people we have around us
09:03and no one in this locker room
09:05wants to quit or have quit in them.
09:07Do you have any superstitions on game day?
09:10Yeah, I just listen to like five of my favorite songs
09:14in order, like I got like a certain order
09:17I listen to them in,
09:19and I gotta play like one song right before I hit the field.
09:21So I just always been like that.
09:23Is it a Mike Hudson Kodak, is that?
09:24It's one of them, yeah.
09:25Where is that in the rotation?
09:28That's the second song, yeah.
09:29What's the last one then?
09:31Straight Bars by Kodak, yeah.
09:33It's always the same order?
09:34It's always been the same order, yeah.
09:36Since when?
09:37Since college, for real,
09:39when I started to like save those musics and stuff, yeah.
09:43You talk about the way that y'all,
09:44obviously the way y'all are better
09:45than the record indicates,
09:47but at what point do y'all need the results to back that up?
09:49Right.
09:50And, you know, especially now y'all are in early saves.
09:53Man, it's gotta start right now, you know what I'm saying?
09:55I would say we all would have thought
09:59it would have started last game,
10:00and the streak would have started last game
10:02just by we set the tone of coming out,
10:06you know, but, you know, we got to do that this game.
10:09This has to be the game we set the standard right here
10:11and leave it all on the table.
10:13Is it too much of a way to call it a must win,
10:15or do you feel like this has got to happen?
10:19It has to happen, just like the Baltimore game
10:20had to happen and this game has to happen
10:22and the next game after that has to happen.
10:24Derrick Henry has made some headlines recently
10:27just about his diet and how meticulous he is with his diet,
10:31and it's clearly helped him play as long as he has.
10:34For you, I mean, it seems like each year you're getting better.
10:38What is your, like, maintenance program,
10:42like, for you to be able to get to the level that you're at?
10:45Like, for, like, everything, you think?
10:48Yeah, like, what do you eat?
10:49What's special about the way you take care of your body?
10:55I'm not really one of those guys that sit there
10:57and try to, like, eat real, real healthy.
11:00I'm not going to lie.
11:01I can eat horrible and still play the good,
11:04so I don't think that's something
11:06that I try to stay away from,
11:09but I'm really big on just making sure
11:12my body's taken care of, like, treatment-wise,
11:17needles, you know, massages.
11:19I really do a lot of that stuff.
11:21I do the cryo machine we have here
11:23almost every day in the morning time
11:25just to make sure my body's up to date,
11:28so that's really my biggest thing
11:29is just making sure, like, my body's always at a level
11:33for me to play at.
11:34What's your go-to unhealthy meal?
11:38Here? Here.
11:45Probably Joella's chicken, bro.
11:47They got, like, chicken and waffles.
11:48I'm, like, I love they waffles and chicken and waffles,
11:50so that's a good start.
11:51Have you talked to Chad Johnson at all
11:53about McDonald's thing?
11:55McDonald's thing?
11:57Nah, man, I'm leaving it up to Chad.
11:59I just do, like, the little breakfast McDonald's.
12:01I love they breakfast, so I'm a McGriddle guy.
12:03I don't eat, like, the Big Macs no more.
12:07Do you eat the same thing before every game?
12:10Nah, I used to.
12:12I grew out of that, so I think I don't know why I grew out of it.
12:16I just did.
12:17I used to eat, like, hot sausage sandwich with, like, eggs on it.
12:20What's your back-home cheat meal?
12:22Say that again?
12:23What's your back-home cheat meal?
12:25Uh, I don't know, but when I go back home,
12:29I eat so good, I don't think it's cheating.
12:30I don't think that's cheating, eating that good.
12:35What's on the menu?
12:37Anything you think of, a pasta gumbo,
12:39like, a pool boy, sandwiches, pork chops, crawfish.
12:44I mean, literally everything.
12:46As soon as I go home, I, like, ask for it all.
12:48Are you a beignet guy?
12:50Yeah, but I haven't ate that in a minute,
12:52so it's been a long time since I had that.
12:54You're obviously the,
12:56this is QB one trick before he beignet-wise.
12:57Have you become cognizant of how much of a star
13:01you've become over the years?
13:02Like, how much does that kind of crush your mind?
13:05You know, I always realize it when I play 2K, bro.
13:08I know that's kind of, like, random, but, so, like,
13:15so, like, 2K, like, they give us, like, the NFL players,
13:17like, a football over our head,
13:20and it has, like, our name on the game,
13:22so we can't sneak and play the game at nighttime
13:26because it's going to say Jamar Chase is on the game.
13:27You know what I'm saying?
13:29So that's when I realized I'm starting
13:32to get a little more global, when kids get on the mic
13:34and scream my name, you know, so it's just funny seeing it.
13:37What's your reaction, like, when kids realize
13:38that it's actually you?
13:40Like, you talk about, number one, Matt, correct?
13:41Yeah, like, if I was on the game,
13:42they wouldn't, they know it's me playing,
13:44so they see my name saying it's Jamar Chase,
13:47but they'd just be happy to play against me.
13:48Like, oh, they'd be telling me, like,
13:50you messed up my fantasy and stuff like that.
13:53Does it make it real toxic in the comms, or no?
13:54Yeah, it gets toxic in the comms, yeah.
13:57Sometimes I got to turn it off.
13:58What's the most toxic thing for the comms
14:00that somebody's, like, willing to say no
14:01when they got Jamar on the mic?
14:03And you can say it here.
14:05I can't say it.
14:07No, it's not that toxic.
14:09No, but the craziest thing is probably just something
14:11like, F.U., you stole my fantasy,
14:14or I'm tired of you and the bingos,
14:16or Stealers rule, or something like that.
14:19You know, some trolling stuff they do.
14:21It just makes you laugh.
14:23I just laugh at it, because they don't really know
14:25it's me playing at the end of the day.
14:26They just see my name, so it's funny.
