Venezuelan Foreign Minister offers statements on peace dialogues in Colombia

The Foreign Minister of Venezuela, Yvan Gil, offers conclusions regarding the conditions for consensus negotiations in relation to the peace talks process in Colombia. teleSUR

00:00And the Sisterhood Nation of Colombia, they have made several important proposals delivered
00:23to President Nicolás Maduro within the framework of cooperation, solidarity, mutual support
00:33and respect of the sovereign elections of the people of Colombia and it's very important
00:40that we underscore that these recommendations have a deepening sense of respect for values
00:50and principles stipulated at the UN Charter, at the state sovereignty, at the self-determination
00:59of the peoples and everything that has to do with the sovereignty and the free self-determination
01:08of the peoples, as I have said, for not to see this as a process of intervention but
01:15a process of support, complementarity to the people and government of Colombia.
01:21And they were also participating in an important delegation of Colombians, men and women, that
01:29we received in our country through different associations of women and partners of Colombian
01:37associations in Venezuela that they did important breakthroughs, improvements and the first
01:45forum, it is proposed the first dialogue with the participation of Venezuela, CELAC and
01:58the ALBA-TCP.
02:03After making the forum, seeing the escalation of the crisis in this country as well as the
02:14execution of the coup d'Ă©tat denounced by President Gustavo Petro, it is proposed the
02:20making of a broadening discussion, dialogue with Colombian actors with participation of
02:30Venezuela as a mediator, as a continuation of the efforts by Venezuela in this peace
02:41dialogue with Colombia, that allowed to advance towards the stability of the Colombian nation.
02:48Likewise, it is expected to invite President Xiomara Castro as her role of President
02:57contemporary of the CELAC community as well as the countries of the ALBA-TCP.
03:05So, for them to support their good offices in this dialogue process and to help construct
03:20the stability of Colombia.
03:23In the headquarters of such process will be Caracas, the cradle of liberator Simon Bolivar,
03:34and so Venezuela is going to be a mediator with the participation of CELAC and ALBA-TCP.
03:43The discussions at this forum have reached the consensus of the diplomatic relations
03:50between Colombia and Venezuela, which have been very positive since its beginning two
03:59years ago with the arrival of President Petro.
04:01Finally, we have accepted the proposal of Venezuelans constituted by millions of
04:12migrants of joining the initiatives proposed by this forum, which have carried out invoking
04:21the most kind principles of solidarity between the people of Caracas on October 11, 2024.
04:30With this statement of the forum and this proposal that has been raised to President
04:38Nicolás Maduro Moro to facilitate dialogue in Colombia, we end this statement.
04:54We were listening to Foreign Minister Iván Gil from Venezuela giving the final conclusions
05:03from the ALBA-TCP political committee also on the Colombian dialogue process.
05:10He was offering also the conclusions on the dialogue regarding the process and also different
05:17proposals, also inviting Xiomara Castro, President of the CELAC and President of Honduras to
05:23continue following this process.
05:26Let's recall that the process of dialogue in Colombia is one of the key processes regarding
05:32political activities and also the situation in the country that the ALBA-TCP and ALBA
05:40governments have been closely following in an effort to bring peace to the country, in
