00:36to reassert control over the country's south in a bid to end the fighting between Israel
00:41and Hezbollah.
00:43In a joint declaration, the leaders of the Med9 group said they would continue advocating
00:48for the Lebanese armed forces, which are called to play a critical stabilizing role.
00:53The unfolding situation in the Middle East is gravely alarming, the declaration said.
01:00Israel and Hezbollah have exchanged almost daily cross-border fire since the war in Gaza
01:04started last October.
01:07In recent weeks, Israel has carried out increasingly heavy strikes into areas deeper inside Lebanon
01:13and at the end of September launched a ground offensive in the country.
01:17It's estimated there are 15,000 Israeli soldiers operating in Lebanon.
01:22And Hezbollah has also expanded its rocket fire to more populated areas in Israel.
01:28Those tit-for-tat strikes have displaced tens of thousands of people on both sides of the
01:33border.
01:39Authorities in Eastern Romania are introducing new measures after flooding in Galats county
01:44last month left seven people dead and around 7,000 homes water damaged.
01:49The county council said it's looking at relocating houses that sit on flood plains and starting
01:54to repair extensive damage across the region.
01:57The council put the total cost for repairs in the county at around 150 million euros
02:02and says the region could be faced with a similar price tag every time there's torrential
02:07rain.
02:08Many in the region are already nervous as Romanian meteorologists have already said
02:12that similar deluges are likely in the future.
02:16Some locals are demanding firm action from the regional authorities as many people have
02:20had to rebuild their homes after extensive flooding on three previous occasions.
02:25In addition to the damage to homes, roads need to be rebuilt and vast swathes of agricultural
02:30land remain waterlogged.
02:32Local authorities say at least 80 percent of residents in the eastern county have been
02:37forced to move.

03:20Many protesters accuse the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of not doing enough
03:25to secure the hostages' release.
03:27Some also accuse him of putting his political survival above the lives of the captives.
03:32Since the war in Gaza started in October, more than 42,000 Palestinians have been killed,
03:38but the Hamas-run health ministry doesn't distinguish between combatants and civilians
03:42in its count.
03:43Hundreds of passengers have been stranded in the French Caribbean island of Martinique
03:52after its airport was forced to close because protesters overran the tarmac.
03:57The overnight shutdown delayed flights and airport officials urged stranded passengers
04:02to contact their airlines for information after the facility resumed operations by mid-morning.
04:08Three planes carrying around 1,000 passengers had to be diverted to the nearby island of
04:13Guadeloupe.
04:14France's Interior Minister Bruno Rattailleau said French authorities had regained control
04:19of the airport, which demonstrators targeted in the latest protest against the rising cost

04:24Since Monday night, Martinique has been gripped by bouts of protests that have often turned

04:31The latest round of violence prompted the government to announce another curfew as it
04:34stressed that demonstrations on public roads were prohibited.
04:38It's the latest in a string of protests that began in early September, prompting France
04:42to send special anti-riot police to the island, which has banned demonstrations in certain
04:47areas.
