00:00Hello, hello, hello.
00:01Oh, hello.
00:02Tell me what you want me to do.
00:03I can't believe it, that Mindy's actually
00:05come in to give me a hand.
00:06She's better than Richard.
00:08Oh, my word.
00:09That's Alancia Delta Integrale.
00:12That is incredible.
00:1336,000 pounds.
00:14That's spectacular.
00:16Would it be nice to just do a bit more?
00:18A bit more.
00:19Yeah.
00:20We are in with a chance of finishing a race.
00:22Don't jinx it.
00:27I think it's Bindi on the last lap.
00:30What do we have to do to finish a bloody race?
00:37Something worked.
00:39Two years ago, I set up a classic car restoration
00:42business with the Greenhouse family.
00:43We can recover any vehicle.
00:46Turning my passion into a successful business
00:49with my family in touch hasn't exactly been plain sailing.
00:53No, mother, shush.
00:55But things are finally on the up.
00:58We've got work.
00:59How far do you want to go with it?
01:01New stuff.
01:03We're racing again.
01:04Never drive that quick on the way to work.
01:06And we're going international.
01:09I just hope I haven't taken on too much.
01:12I've got that gone wrong feeling.
01:30It's probably kind of well-known that I like a car, and I do.
01:34But the truth of it is, my first and real love
01:36has fewer wheels.
01:38Two, in fact, bikes.
01:40Old ones, new ones, I love them.
01:43I have done since I was five.
01:45And I'm excited because I'm going into the workshop now,
01:48and I've landed a job that involves bikes.
01:50So this, apart from being very exciting for me
01:53and some of the team, could be a game changer for us.
01:56Which is why I'm celebrating by going to work on a bike.
01:58Morning, all.
02:00Charge.
02:12Gravel, gravel, gravel.
02:15Get everywhere.
02:26The thing is, it's a good time for an interesting job to come in.
02:31Because, well, whichever way you cut it,
02:34the Lancia cost us money and time to do.
02:37And the Donington experience,
02:41spirit's not high right now.
02:43This is good news.
02:45Because this is a job for Royal Enfield,
02:48one of the most iconic bike brands in the world.
02:52You need to come this way a bit.
02:54Ooh!
02:56How you doing, Richard?
02:58Good to see you, sir.
03:00Nice to see you, Gordon.
03:02How are you?
03:04Ooh, here it is.
03:06It's a beauty, but I know you can make it better.
03:08So this is an original Interceptor.
03:10This is the original?
03:12This is a Series 2 Interceptor.
03:14One of the very last ever made.
03:16Right.
03:18In the UK.
03:21So the new one is being launched as we speak.
03:25Absolutely.
03:27So the new one, basically,
03:29we will have it at Wheels and Waves in Birricks.
03:31And that is a full-on culture festival of motorcycling.
03:35Everything you could ever dream of on two wheels.
03:38And you want this there as part of the launch of the new one.
03:42Yeah, so we really want this to be the best of the breed, Richard.
03:46The reason I brought it to you
03:48is because I know the quality of the greenhouse's work.
03:52I don't know what response I'm going to get in there.
03:54No.
03:56I don't know what I'm going to get.
04:02Chaps.
04:04Chaps, behold.
04:06New purchase?
04:08No, it's not a purchase.
04:10That's my dream bike.
04:12That is the bike.
04:14Really?
04:16I've never seen one in the flesh.
04:18That is a job.
04:20Stop it.
04:22It is.
04:24They want us to restore that
04:26to how it left the factory.
04:28Yeah, but you're not going to make loads of money
04:30out of bikes, are you?
04:32No, because people do them at home in their garages.
04:34Not always.
04:36Sometimes you're right.
04:38Not in this instance,
04:40because that is owned by,
04:42and we have been commissioned by,
04:44to take it to an event
04:46in Biarritz, France,
04:48where they're going to have the new one
04:50and they want this one next to it.
04:52These are cool people.
04:54They're going to launch the new one
04:56and have that one restored.
04:58To me,
05:00when we open this place,
05:02we're a car restoration business.
05:04We're not into bikes.
05:06Just because Richard likes it as a hobby,
05:08I just don't think it's the best idea
05:10Richard's had since we moved in.
05:12Well, we paid the same per hour.
05:14Yes.
05:16These are people with money.
05:18If we can get into the world of bikes,
05:20this could mark a big step for us
05:22as a workshop.
05:24This has got to try and prove me wrong.
05:26If we can,
05:28this is another avenue for us to explore.
05:30We start doing bikes.
05:32You really don't like bikes, do you?
05:36When we've finished the Enfield,
05:38the company itself is paying us
05:41to deliver it to this cool event
05:43in Biarritz.
05:45Why don't we ride it there?
05:47We could take this Triumph Bonneville
05:49and I've got the steed for Neil.
05:51That's a great bike, that.
05:53It's a 300.
05:55There is a business case to be made
05:57for riding this bike to the southwest of France.
05:59A small part of it might be
06:01that I'm getting to do something
06:03I haven't done in ages.
06:05Go on a road trip on two wheels
06:07with my mates.
06:09It's not my fault. Let me do it.
06:11And it's work.
06:13Right, that's settled. Road trip.
06:15I'll be riding the Enfield to Biarritz
06:17whilst Andrew will commandeer
06:19my old Triumph.
06:21Thing is, wheels and waves
06:23attract a pretty hip crowd
06:25and the Triumph will be representing
06:27the Cog too.
06:29So I want to make it a bit more cool.
06:31The bike I'm starting with
06:33is a 1971 Triumph Bonneville.
06:35That's kind of the vague shape of it.
06:37It's like an old auntie
06:39of a motorcycle.
06:41But I want to make it more fun.
06:46Get rid of the indicators.
06:48I don't want indicators on it.
06:50Quite big handlebars.
06:52It wants to be flamboyant.
06:54I want people to notice this.
06:56And then I think I'm going to give it some impressive wheels.
06:58And it's a groovy,
07:00fashionable festival.
07:02So there are people who spend a lot of money on motorcycles
07:04and those are the exact people
07:06you need to connect the smallest Cog with.
07:10That, I think, is achievable.
07:12The festival is the weekend after next
07:14so it's going to be tight.
07:28What a day. First bike in the building.
07:30Hopefully
07:32the first of many.
07:34It's a fairly big project.
07:36It's going to be done for Enfield.
07:38This isn't a full restoration
07:40because I think it would spoil it.
07:42So what I'm going to do,
07:44I'm going to take off all the little bits,
07:46clean them up, do all the cables,
07:48keep all the original ends on the cables
07:50because they're so lovely and original.
07:52Redo the stickers on the tank.
07:54Just do as much as I possibly can.
07:56If you imagine this bike in a museum,
07:58people want to look at it and say,
08:00God, it's an original bike.
08:02They want to see originality
08:04and that's what I've got to try and do,
08:06keep it original.
08:08First job, get the tank off, I suppose,
08:10see what's lurking underneath on the wiring.
08:12There we go.
08:20I have only got
08:22a small number of days
08:24to turn this back into a motorcycle
08:26and not just any motorcycle,
08:28a cool motorcycle.
08:30I'm going to serve Andrew
08:32because he's working on the Enfield,
08:34which is the paid job
08:36while we're doing this trip.
08:38That's the new tank.
08:40This is a different shape.
08:42Oh, new mudguard.
08:44So this goes in here.
08:46Yeah, what I'm out of is my death.
08:48That's the truth of it.
08:50Well, it's been a while
08:52since we finished the Lancia
08:54and got it sold at Bonhams,
08:56but that was all to raise money
08:58for that wildlife park in Devon
09:00to get the enclosure for the leopards.
09:02It was a good job.
09:04It went, sold,
09:06but it was a few quid short
09:08of what they actually needed
09:10to build that enclosure.
09:12So I said, I'm going to see
09:14if I can call on the good people
09:16of Hertfordshire to see if they'll
09:18donate a bit of cash
09:20towards the leopards.
09:22Help endangered leopards, please.
09:24Oh, quite happy with that.
09:34Help a leopard, anybody?
09:36Hello?
09:38Fancy saving a leopard?
09:40Not today.
09:42Morning, sir. Help a leopard?
09:44We're next to Greggs,
09:46which is the epicentre of Leadbury.
09:48It's virtually like the town hall.
09:50You know, everybody meets there.
09:52You'd think there'd be somebody
09:54that'd have a spare change and help a leopard.
09:56Morning, sir. Donation for a leopard?
09:58Morning.
10:00Fancy help with a leopard today?
10:04Fancy help with a leopard today, ladies?
10:06No?
10:08He's lovely, he's cuddly.
10:10This job's harder than it looks,
10:12I'll have you know,
10:14I've had some very optimistic
10:16and generous comments,
10:18and I've also had some very strange looks.
10:20Oh, look at that.
10:22Thank you very much, sir.
10:24You've restored my faith in humanity.
10:26That's it, half a day
10:28and 21 pence,
10:30and I'm wet,
10:32and I'm getting quite embarrassed now,
10:34and I really want to go home.
10:44I am waiting for a customer,
10:46well, potential customer,
10:48and it's a good one,
10:50because we're about to leave
10:52on our big French adventure
10:54with the bikes,
10:56leaving Anthony, Sophie and Isaac here,
10:58and I need jobs,
11:00and this is a good one.
11:06Peter, hello.
11:08Nice to see you.
11:10Nice to see you.
11:12Peter, hello.
11:14Nice to see you.
11:16As expected, oh, I say,
11:18that's very orange, isn't it?
11:20It's Jaune Helliant.
11:22Fair to be noticed, isn't it?
11:24I love these little things, it's fantastic.
11:26Comes bearing gifts as well.
11:28Look at that,
11:30they're like bloodhands for kings.
11:32Oh, what's going on there?
11:34Look at that.
11:36It's a croissant,
11:38looks like a muffin, treated like a donut.
11:40Yes. Thank you.
11:46You've got possibly some work?
11:48I have.
11:50Well, we've had this van beautifully restored,
11:52looks gorgeous, does the job.
11:54Unfortunately, it costs a little bit more
11:56than I had budgeted,
11:58so I've got to make a sacrifice somewhere else,
12:00and I've got another Citroen,
12:02a Citroen DS, that I need to sell,
12:04but it needs a bit of work
12:06to be able to make it sellable,
12:08so do you have a budget in mind?
12:10We do accept cruffins, but not for all of the work.
12:12Oh.
12:14That's a shame.
12:16I'd like it to cost less than a thousand, if possible,
12:18as soon as I'm going to move it on.
12:20Right, we'll give you a call, set a date,
12:22and then we can talk over more of this.
12:24Brilliant, thank you.
12:32Andrew, are you all right?
12:34How are things in Royal Enfield?
12:36It's looking pretty sparkly.
12:38I've painted parts of the frame
12:40that we can mostly see.
12:42There was a big dent in the trumpet,
12:44so I panel-beat that out
12:46and got that polished.
12:48All the aluminium's been polished.
12:50All the individual spokes
12:52on the wheels have been polished.
12:54It was nice.
12:56Yeah, you've had a lovely time.
12:58So anyway, enough about my project,
13:00how's your project coming along?
13:02Really well, it's good.
13:04One more bit is needed.
13:06Oh, no, two more bits.
13:08I've got to get all the bloody
13:10side panels back in.
13:12Yeah, I've still got a long way to go
13:14with my Triumph, and we're setting off tomorrow.
13:16That can't go any further back.
13:18I don't think that fits.
13:20The one thing that is familiar
13:22about this whole process is
13:24I've done what I always do.
13:26Deadline.
13:28I need a deadline, and it needs to be
13:30just too close for comfort,
13:32and if I can't get it done,
13:34I will get it done.
13:36Probably.
14:02Ta-da!
14:04Look at that!
14:06New toy.
14:08You wouldn't think that was the same bike.
14:10I'll tell you what, that is a transformation, isn't it?
14:12Isn't it just?
14:14That is better.
14:16Do you want a job?
14:18Well, that's gone from a dodie old
14:20motorbike to something people
14:22want to be seen on, isn't it?
14:24You're changing my opinion on bikes,
14:26and I'm going to change your opinion
14:28on motorbikes.
14:30You're changing my opinion on bikes,
14:32because I didn't realise you could change a bike so much.
14:34Anthony, that's exactly it.
14:36Imagine how cool I'm going to look
14:38pulling up on this.
14:40Because you've got to ride the Enfield.
14:42I'll ride the Enfield, you'll be on this.
14:44So really, you've built me a bike, haven't you?
14:46I think I have, by accident.
14:48Andrew's not the only one getting a new bike.
14:50Behind the scenes,
14:52Flump's been busy making a few
14:54subtle alterations to Neil's Vespa.
14:56Flump?
14:58Yes.
15:00That is amazing.
15:02It's our recovery moped.
15:04It's just exactly what I wanted, mate.
15:06It's our support vehicle.
15:08It's got features.
15:10Flashy lights.
15:12Nice, that's useful.
15:14What does that do?
15:16That's a siren.
15:18Shall we turn it on?
15:20It's dangerous, Neil, having that.
15:22It's brilliant, thank you.
15:24I love it.
15:26Look at the Interceptor. What a name as well.
15:28It is.
15:30That looks...
15:32I think you pitched it just right.
15:34It's still got its personality.
15:36But the frame being painted, that lifts it.
15:38This being painted in the right colour.
15:40Gators up here, that's going to blow them away.
15:42I hope.
15:44Because they are the makers of it
15:46and we want to be in with them.
15:48That's a good job to do, I'm pleased.
15:50We are just about ready to go.
15:52You've got to keep in mind,
15:54this is not a jolly.
15:56This is a chance to get ourselves
15:58in front of a lot of people.
16:00We've got our logos on this.
16:02They're going to go, who are these guys?
16:04Look at those cool bikes, that's amazing.
16:06Look at that Enfield, it's beautiful.
16:08Look at that Triumph, that's unusual, that's cool.
16:10Right, gather the troops.
16:12We are about ready to roll out.
16:14I'm so excited.
16:16I haven't ridden a bike for years and years
16:18but it's an opportunity to do something
16:20that I haven't done in the rest of my life
16:22and you've got to seize the moment.
16:24It's like being a teenager again
16:26but a bit older
16:28and not much wiser.
16:32Hello?
16:34I've got a few concerns.
16:36I'm a bit worried about Dad riding to France.
16:38Why?
16:40He hasn't been on a bike for years.
16:42Once a biker, always a biker.
16:44It's quite sweet that you care.
16:46It's just been a while.
16:48I'll make sure he's alright, don't worry.
16:50I appreciate that, cheers Rich.
16:54Right, you ready to go Ted?
16:56The smallest cog rides again.
17:00The scary thing is, I think Beirut's
17:02Dad was saying to me last time
17:04is nearly a thousand miles
17:06which I'd be worried
17:08if he was riding from here to his home
17:10which is literally three miles.
17:12Of course I wouldn't ask Neil to ride a scooter
17:14all the way to Beirut.
17:16I wouldn't ask any of us to, we're not.
17:18I've foreseen that problem.
17:24Right, the great departure is upon us.
17:26Goodbye dear colleagues.
17:30Well done, that's your work.
17:36Right, are we ready?
17:38We ready?
17:40France, here we come!
17:47They are riding off into the sunset.
17:49It's a bit emotional really.
17:51Three old men in a midlife crisis.
17:54It's like watching the last of some wine, isn't it?
18:06You alright mate?
18:08Right, here you go.
18:10Right, fair enough.
18:12They're all yours.
18:14Perfect, thank you very much.
18:18Right, everything on there.
18:20Look after these bikes, they're very precious.
18:22Especially that one.
18:24We'll see you on the other side.
18:26Taxi?
18:28Bristol Airport, please cops.
18:40Here's the lovely Citroen DS.
18:42And looking at the car,
18:44it's not looking in a good way either.
18:46So does this thing roll at all?
18:48Brakes work?
18:50He said nothing works.
18:52No brakes, it doesn't start.
18:54It's been sat for ages.
18:56Don't worry Ant,
18:58we'll get you exotic cars to work on in the workshop.
19:00Whilst we're on holiday in France.
19:02It's quite a funky looking thing, isn't it?
19:06Oh my days.
19:08Oh my days.
19:10Oh my days.
19:12Oh my days.
19:38When do the bikes get here?
19:40Tomorrow morning.
19:42The guy will deliver them to this square.
19:46Isn't exactly, um,
19:48as I envisaged,
19:50like, easy rider.
19:52Well, things seldom are, you see.
19:54Even the old sugar lumps have gone soggy.
19:56Yeah, that has happened.
19:58Sorry.
20:00At some point we're going to have to ring Anthony,
20:02who believes we are
20:04by now
20:06northern France,
20:08bringing our way down on the bikes.
20:10Do we want a really cool Anthony looking like this?
20:12In the rain?
20:14And also don't forget he believes we're riding.
20:16Yeah, we wouldn't want him being there.
20:18So he doesn't want to know that we've taken an aeroplane to the rain.
20:20So we're, we're
20:22trying not to dampen that sweat.
20:24It's so hot.
20:26Sweat.
20:28Nice.
20:30Hello mate.
20:32You alright, how are you?
20:34Bonjour.
20:36That sweat, it's so hot.
20:38Boiling, absolutely boiling.
20:40Very sweaty.
20:42Well, we're showing off the bikes, we're getting a lot of attention.
20:44A bit saddle sore, but.
20:46Yeah, we're bearing up.
20:48We're not used to doing the miles, but it's OK.
20:50So, um, how's your French experience going with the DS?
20:52Not so good this end.
20:54Literally, I don't know if you can see this,
20:56the wiring,
20:58literally the loom
21:00is melted and it's shot.
21:02And the problem is with Pete wanting to spend
21:04his budget on it,
21:06it's just not viable for us to do it.
21:08But he was only going to spend like a grand.
21:10That's basically two days labour.
21:12With no parts.
21:14We're going to have to tell him, do you want me to call him?
21:16Oh no.
21:18No, I've spoken to Peter, it's all sorted this end.
21:20What, you told him we can't do it? Yeah.
21:22Well, I'm sorry about that.
21:24Your French experience has gone wrong, but I'm going to make it up to you.
21:26Because, bit of a surprise actually guys,
21:28I've got a job.
21:30Just before all of this kicked off and we left,
21:32Sunday morning, I'm going down to my newsagents
21:34down the road from me to see
21:36lovely Mark who sells my papers every week
21:38and he says, out of the blue,
21:40I've got one of Sterling Moss'
21:42cars and it needs some work.
21:44I kid you not. The Sterling Moss?
21:46He's a legend.
21:48Sir Sterling Moss, as in Sterling Moss.
21:50All you've got to do is...
21:52What? I don't mind what it is,
21:54I'll do it. Well yeah, and it's
21:56mechanical work, so it's right up your street.
21:58Ask for Mark, he'll know to
22:00expect you. I've told him you're going to come down at some point.
22:02We'll do all the work, you go and play with Sterling Moss'
22:04car. Lucky boy.
22:06Alright fella, good luck. See you mate.
22:08Bye.
22:10I would have loved to have met the bloke, never mind
22:12actually get my hands on one of
22:14his cars, and I know he had some very exciting
22:16cars, so...
22:18I need to tell Sophie some news.
22:22Do you think the sun's going to come out?
22:24It might. It's going to improve,
22:26the bikes will get here. We'll be here in this square
22:28tomorrow morning, we will be reunited with
22:30our steeds. Look at it this way,
22:32we've earned ourselves
22:34a day off in France.
22:40Great.
22:44I can't speak French, so I just...
22:46I don't think you're going to have to speak French, mate.
22:48There's nobody here.
22:58Mark.
23:00Morning. Is it Mark?
23:02Yes, it is Mark. Yeah, Anthony.
23:04Richard sent me to have a look at Sterling Moss'
23:06old car. Yes, I have got
23:08a Sterling Moss old car.
23:10I know, I couldn't sleep last night, I was like, I'm actually so excited
23:12to see what it is. I've actually rushed here
23:14to come and see it this morning.
23:16You want me to show you? If you could, please.
23:18Yeah, surely. Let's go and do it.
23:20So,
23:22this is the car,
23:24this is the car.
23:26Let's go and do it.
23:34This is it.
23:36A smart car.
23:38A smart car.
23:40Didn't quite live up to my dream,
23:42I'm sorry.
23:44I'm really sorry about that.
23:48I just can't believe Sterling Moss had a smart car.
23:50So how do you know that was actually
23:52Sterling Moss's?
23:54I bought it on eBay.
23:56And I have all the original paperwork
23:58that this chap supplied me with.
24:00The original bill of sale.
24:02With the main man's name on it.
24:04He and his wife both had smart
24:06cars and I think they had them because
24:08they lived in central London.
24:10So of course it made sense to have small cars.
24:12Yeah, it wasn't quite what I was
24:14expecting, but
24:16at the end of the day, still Sterling Moss' car.
24:18Correct.
24:20Big man still actually owned that car.
24:22Big man still actually owned that smart car.
24:24And I'll probably never get a chance to drive
24:26a Sterling Moss car ever again.
24:28So I've got to make the most of this and actually enjoy
24:30working on a little smart car.
24:34Come on, girl.
24:46Gentlemen, this is it.
24:48Today is looking better.
24:50Have you been before we set off?
24:52Just about.
24:54Thank you, by the way, for bringing everything.
24:56Well done, mate. Good job.
25:00We've got to start these yet.
25:02All right with the electric start.
25:08I'm trying not to look surprised.
25:10I always look surprised
25:12when a bike starts.
25:16Right, are we ready?
25:18Let's begin.
25:24All right, lads.
25:26We've got about 80 miles to ride to the festival
25:28campsite and all day to do it,
25:30so this is a dogger.
25:32Only cloud on the horizon.
25:34I did see, well,
25:36a little bit of bad weather forecast up ahead,
25:38but we're in the south of France.
25:40How bad can it be?
25:42Oh, this is
25:44far better.
25:46Gentlemen,
25:48I am actually happy.
25:50Let's hear the mighty
25:52end film.
25:54It's great, isn't it?
25:58Oh, I saw myself in the window there.
26:00I did, and I look pretty cool.
26:04Oh, no, I've trapped a bollock
26:06in my jeans.
26:10That was bad.
26:12That was bad.
26:16Oh, here it comes.
26:22I had anticipated better weather
26:24if I'm honest.
26:30Right down my neck.
26:32It's all coming back to me now.
26:34How have I got water
26:36running down the back of my legs
26:38inside my jeans?
26:40I wonder how
26:42Anton is doing in the workshop.
26:44He's probably drier than us.
26:52It's so hot here.
26:54Could you imagine
26:56how insufferably hot it is in France right now?
26:58Yeah, it's usually warmer,
27:00a bit more south.
27:02Oh, lightning!
27:04Bloody hell, that lightning
27:06was blinding.
27:08Where's the eye of the storm now?
27:10I don't know.
27:12Most of the storm is in my boots and crotch.
27:14Oh, it's just all collecting
27:16in my leather portions.
27:20Is everyone alright?
27:24Oh, no, careful!
27:30Do you need to stop, Andrew?
27:32No, we're fine.
27:34It's just about too warm now.
27:38Total dead, total dead.
27:40Bike died, bike died.
27:42It'll be the rain, hang on.
27:44Pull in, his bike died.
27:46Let's go under those
27:48trees on the right and then if necessary
27:50we'll come back and get Andy's bike.
27:56The ignition on that is just wet.
27:58Have you tried kicking it over now?
28:02Give it a kick.
28:04Come on,
28:06little triumph.
28:08Don't die on us now in the rain.
28:10We're not going much further
28:12in this on those.
28:14I'm sorry, I'd like to apologise.
28:16I did expect
28:18something better.
28:20Yeah.
28:34A good night's sleep,
28:36some running repairs
28:38and a change of clothes
28:40and I'm festival ready.
28:46Right, chaps, come up.
28:48The bikes have dried out.
28:50It's time to go to the festival.
28:52Early in here?
28:54Well, that's what we're here to do.
28:56See the bikes and meet our people
28:58and it's all waiting for us.
29:00You've had your breakfast.
29:02It's not very clever, to be honest.
29:04What?
29:06It's all this foreign food.
29:08You're in France, we haven't travelled.
29:10Your Herefordian guts have said,
29:12no, I don't like it.
29:14I'd rather have an hour just to settle myself.
29:16I'll be all right then.
29:18All right, well look, here's an idea.
29:20Andy and I will go off to the festival
29:22and have a look around the actual
29:24biker festival bit and then this afternoon
29:26there's a race, Punk's Peak it's called.
29:28It's like a proper bikers event up on the hill.
29:30Yeah, yeah.
29:32It's got to come to that.
29:34No, no, I'll definitely get there.
29:36Just if I go now, it could end in tragedy.
29:38I don't want to even imagine how it might end.
29:40Let's not.
29:42All right, well, we'll catch up with you in a bit.
29:46Wheels and Waves is Europe's landmark
29:48surfing and motorcycling festival.
29:50I'm not much of a surfer,
29:52but if a festival's got bikes, come in.
29:56Right, wallet lodged firmly in pocket.
30:00Oh, look.
30:02Oh, come on, that is fun.
30:04It's a bit of Neil, that is.
30:06So that's a monkey bike,
30:08it's a bit of Neil, that is.
30:10That's brilliant.
30:12He'd like that.
30:14He could get his feet down on that.
30:16Well, actually, I'm feeling fine.
30:18The boys have gone off into town,
30:20gone for their bit of adventure.
30:22Last night, I was talking to a chap.
30:24Luckily for me, he speaks fairly good English.
30:26Lovely, lovely chap.
30:28And we got chatting, just talking about cars.
30:30You do whatever you are.
30:32And he tells me his dad's got this car collection
30:34and some immediate bit of work,
30:36so could be doing a bit of business abroad.
30:38Better go and have a look.
30:40Ooh, that's nice.
30:42What?
30:44Snap your leg off.
30:46Yeah, it would snap your leg off immediately.
30:48I've broken my collarbone just looking at it.
30:50Do you want to buy a sheepskin jacket?
30:52Or a pair of corduroy pants?
30:54No.
30:56Yes.
31:04Nice to see you again.
31:06You OK?
31:08Neil Romaric told me about you.
31:10Hello.
31:12Nice to meet you.
31:14A lovely place you've got here.
31:16Oh, thank you.
31:18You lead on. I can't wait to have a look.
31:20OK, with pleasure.
31:22Oh, I recognise this.
31:24That's a bit of Britishness there.
31:26Original condition, original paint.
31:28Original problems.
31:30What's under there?
31:32Maserati.
31:34Yeah.
31:36Ghibli.
31:38Oui.
31:40Beautiful.
31:42Ah, Ferrari.
31:44The GT4.
31:46Yeah.
31:48I can just smell the inside.
31:50It's like fine wine.
31:52Yeah.
31:54Mixing with all the cool kids at the festival
31:56has given me an idea.
31:58We're looking forward to you, aren't we?
32:00Yeah.
32:02If I'm going to have a midlife crisis,
32:04I might as well go the whole hog.
32:06OK.
32:08It's the old bed of death.
32:10It's a sure sign of a midlife crisis.
32:12It's tattoos,
32:14motorbikes,
32:16Marlon Brando leather jacket.
32:22We had a good five-minute conversation
32:24about the design.
32:26It had to incorporate the logo,
32:28which it has.
32:32The business is founded on something I love.
32:34Machinery, cars, motorcycles.
32:36And they're based on cogs,
32:38so, yeah.
32:40It's part of me.
32:42It literally is part of me now.
32:44So...
32:46That looks a bit sleek.
32:48Yeah.
32:50What do you think there is underneath?
32:52Oh.
32:54Oh, a Lamborghini.
32:56This is a first-series Escalade.
32:58Oh.
33:00That is a nice car.
33:02What did Ferruccio Lamborghini say?
33:04He said,
33:06you buy a Ferrari when you want to be somebody.
33:08You buy a Lamborghini when you are somebody.
33:10That's a nice car.
33:12You buy a Lamborghini when you are somebody.
33:16I would like to sit in it.
33:18Yes, do. Please do.
33:20This is the moment to savour.
33:24I'm almost Ferruccio Lamborghini at the moment.
33:28What a nice place to be.
33:30Oh, it gets sore when it goes over to that side.
33:32Yes, it will.
33:36That's just the centre of the little cog.
33:38I swear to God, it's sewing my arm to the table.
33:42Give us your hand.
33:44Are you all right, mate?
33:46Oh, that's quite a tight grip.
33:48It's like you're giving birth.
33:50Don't make me look.
33:52I'm moving and it's going to be all wobbly.
33:54Then it's going to be all silly.
34:00Don't look at me.
34:02I won't look at you.
34:06If I take a few photographs
34:08and then I can go back and see Richard
34:10we can work you out a price.
34:14That espada at the end.
34:16What a thing of beauty.
34:18Everything about it is just screaming,
34:20paint me, paint me.
34:22I can't wait to go back to Richard
34:24and show him the picture and say,
34:26look, we can have this job.
34:28Can I have a look?
34:30I like it. It's good.
34:34Eventually I might have the little cog made gold,
34:36like our logo.
34:38Well done. You were very brave.
34:40Agony. Thank you.
34:42I was crying inside.
34:44There was a tear.
34:46I know.
34:48We've got to go, haven't we?
34:50We're on a schedule.
34:54Rolling thunder.
34:56I am hoping that noise behind me
34:58is Neil's bike, not his dodgy tummy.
35:02Reunited, the three of us are heading south
35:04to the festival's legendary hill climb
35:06at Punk's Peak.
35:08Look, look, look.
35:10What's behind us, lads?
35:12Yeah!
35:18Time to reclaim my dignity.
35:22I'll be racing Andrew
35:24in a knockout event in a field
35:26of more than 100 festival goers
35:28from across the globe.
35:32That's me. Thank you.
35:34I'll accept that.
35:36So you're on the new one, and you've never ridden it?
35:38I've sat on it once.
35:40The chaps at Royal Enfield have lent us
35:42one of their new interceptors
35:44for Andrew to race.
35:46Let's not crash them.
35:48Can't crash them, no.
35:50Royal Enfield have paid us to restore the bike.
35:52They want us to make it look good
35:54and arrive in one piece.
35:56So when you're on the start line, gently pull away from me.
35:58You're not going to chase me at all.
36:00So then when you pull away from me,
36:02let's both pact
36:04we don't break the bikes.
36:06Richard has texted me.
36:08Let's not go mad, because we don't want to crash Enfield's bikes.
36:10But once you get to that start line,
36:12your brain changes, and you think,
36:14I'm having a go.
36:16And I can't be beaten by Richard Hammond.
36:18I was going to go berserk,
36:20but I'm not going to be drawn into it.
36:22I'm riding sensibly. I'm not going to bend that bike.
36:24I've been to all the trouble
36:26to restore it and get it in it.
36:32What I like with this lot is that
36:34just look around you. You can smell testosterone in the air.
36:40Getting real close now.
36:42I can feel the butterflies
36:44coming now.
36:46Andrew's pretty experienced
36:48on motorbikes.
36:50I think he'll be okay, but I wouldn't want to see anything go
36:52wrong.
36:56Are you ready then, big fella?
36:58Don't cross the lane.
37:00Oh, so
37:02like that?
37:08So then we've got to get it in gear and go.
37:10That's cruel.
37:12That is cruel.
37:14Oh, no.
37:18Who will come in the corner first?
37:20Who will be overconfident?
37:22Will the testosterone get flowing?
37:24The adrenaline get flowing?
37:26Oh, no.
37:28Oh, no.
37:34Shit.
37:58I'm going to brake after the finish.
38:02I did remember to slow down.
38:04It is cool.
38:08It was close.
38:12Well, I'd love to think it was.
38:14You had me on the start.
38:16I thought you were going to stop.
38:18I thought you were going to stop.
38:20I thought you were going to stop.
38:22I thought you were going to stop.
38:24I thought you were going to stop.
38:26You had me on the start.
38:28I did have you on the start.
38:30There's no doubt about that.
38:32So I did get off the line quicker,
38:34but then he just disappeared.
38:36The problem is, now you see,
38:38I've now got to listen to endless errors.
38:40Oh, I leant into this corner.
38:42Oh, I could do this.
38:44Oh, I'd have to touch my hand on my head.
38:46I'm just oozing testosterone.
38:48Don't stand too much closer or you'll get pregnant.
38:50I want to do it again.
38:52I could do it all day.
38:54I think we have sort of reconnected
38:56with ourselves a little bit, me and Joanna.
38:58I've always likened it to,
39:00there is a version of me, age 17,
39:02always on a motorcycle.
39:04That's Ike,
39:06and that's the 17-year-old you inside.
39:08So I think we've reconnected with our youths a bit.
39:10I think we have sort of reconnected
39:12with ourselves a little bit, me and Joanna.
39:14I've always likened it to,
39:16there is a version of me, age 17,
39:18always on a motorcycle.
39:20That's Ike,
39:22and that's the 17-year-old you inside.
39:24All we have to do now is deliver the bike
39:26in person
39:28to the guys from Royal Enfield.
39:30Right, well done everybody.
39:46I think it's down that way.
39:52Oh, there's Royal Enfield.
39:54Look, there.
39:56Right, keep your eyes peeled for Steve.
39:58He'll be around. There he is. There's Steve.
40:00Hello, mate.
40:02Thank you. Where do you want this?
40:04On there.
40:06This is the moment.
40:08Don't fall off it. Do not fall off it.
40:10Don't fall off there, mate.
40:16Hey!
40:18Gentlemen,
40:20very nice to see you.
40:22Good to see you, sir.
40:24Gentlemen, great job.
40:26Thank you, mate.
40:28This is all now,
40:30whether it passes Gordon's inspection,
40:32does it pass muster Gordon?
40:34Look at that, Gordon.
40:38Let's have a look.
40:40Engine cases have come up beautifully.
40:42Sorry about the 12.
40:44They did, obviously.
40:46It's just a rag now.
40:48Have you seen those as well?
40:50Yeah, a bit of ultrasonic action.
40:52I don't know how you've managed to restore that airbox
40:54because that was severely battered when you had it,
40:56but that's beautiful.
40:58I love the patina you've kept on the tank.
41:00It looks...
41:02It's not overdone.
41:04I love the details that you've kept.
41:06New cables, but you've kept original fittings,
41:08which is a beautiful touch.
41:10It's gorgeous.
41:12It isn't dripping oil.
41:14That was already there when I passed.
41:16That's enthusiasm.
41:18Yeah, that's what it is.
41:20I'm delighted.
41:22Looking at it, you've done an absolutely superb job of it.
41:24It's exactly what we hoped for.
41:26And more, it has to be said.
41:28And more.
41:30Would you guys mind if I borrowed you for a little bit
41:32to do a little photo shoot?
41:34All right, we'll do that.
41:36Where do you want to do it?
41:38Let's go down to the beach and have a bit of fun.
41:40All right, we'll do that.
41:42Do we look cool?
41:44Yeah, really cool.
41:46You look quite cool.
41:48It was always obvious that this trip
41:50was about more than just dropping the bike off.
41:52All right, let's get you all behind the bike.
41:54Behind the bike?
41:56Yeah, I feel like we need a surfboard.
41:58What are we going to do with the surfboard?
42:00Are we going to hold it?
42:02But it was also more than just a laugh.
42:04Because...
42:06the three of us don't get to
42:08do things like that
42:10very often, actually.
42:12Yeah, you think I do, because I do them on TV.
42:14But this is different.
42:16Andy, why don't you stand the surfboard like that?
42:18And then you hold the surfboard.
42:20Just look confident.
42:22I've been criticised. Midlife crisis.
42:24Yeah, whatever. It's not a crisis.
42:26I'm not fighting the...
42:28Oh, no, I'm middle-aged.
42:30I know it's been coming on for a while.
42:32It's a celebration. It's embracing it.
42:34Own it.
42:36Right, we are cool, everybody.
42:42I've got something to show you.
42:44When you were off gallivanting...
42:46And you were home with a poorly gut.
42:48Well, yeah, I didn't feel very well,
42:50admittedly, but I did recover.
42:52See if you recognise this.
42:54Oh.
42:56Lambo?
42:58Lamborghini Espada.
43:00Ooh, look at that. That's the original interior.
43:02Yep.
43:04And it is original, absolutely original.
43:06Oh, my word.
43:08It gets better, because they want that
43:10Ghibli repairing, and they want
43:12that Lamborghini Espada
43:14stripped into bare metal and re-spraying,
43:16and they're willing to bring it to us.
43:18Hmm. Hey. Seriously.
43:22Spot on.
43:24See?
43:26Sometimes it's good to have a bad belly.
43:28Cheers.
43:30Let's have tomorrow off.
43:32Shall we?
43:34Thank you very much.
43:36That's Punk's Peak over there.
43:38Quite steep. Looks like a volcano, doesn't it?
