00:00Here it comes, here it comes, here it comes.
00:05If it's taken 60 grand just to finish a race, is it going to be worth it?
00:09You've loaned the company 450,000 to date.
00:12I feel like I've tied myself to it for the next 10 years.
00:15There was talk of a calendar for the Leopards.
00:18He told me to bring straw players and party hats.
00:21That's an inflatable palm tree.
00:23We're not going to get registered in this.
00:25It just looks like a stag do gone wrong.
00:31Something worked!
00:32Two years ago, I set up a classic car restoration business with the Greenhouse family.
00:37We can recover any vehicle.
00:39Turning my passion into a successful business with my family in touch
00:44hasn't exactly been plain sailing.
00:47No, mother, shush.
00:49But things are finally on the up.
00:51We've got work.
00:53How far do you want to go with it?
00:54New staff.
00:56We're racing again.
00:58Never drive that quick on the way to work.
01:00And we're going international.
01:03I just hope I haven't taken on too much.
01:06I've got that gone wrong feeling.
01:29The mood around here is, let's say, melancholy.
01:33Racing has come to an end for the year, and that was a hollow victory.
01:38It's not filled with joy.
01:41But I'm trying to stay positive.
01:43And that's a bit easier today because I've got a job coming in.
01:46And it's a double win because it's a Lamborghini.
01:49Everybody likes a Lamborghini. It makes you happy.
01:51And we're charging it at £95 an hour.
01:54It's our first job at the new grown-up rate.
01:57Which means there's a chance Camber will be pleased.
02:09Just dropping it off for me, are you?
02:11I am, yeah.
02:12How are you doing? You all right?
02:13I've got a bit of a problem.
02:14Have you? Just one?
02:16Just one problem, yeah.
02:17This air intake here, I don't know whether it can be repaired or not really.
02:21Yeah, it's plastic. It isn't carbon, which is a good thing.
02:23We can plastic weld that.
02:25The problem is on a car like this, everyone looks around in all the detail.
02:28And they always focus on this.
02:30How did that actually happen then?
02:32Well, it was the wife really.
02:34Oh, was it?
02:35She failed to truck up the barn doors on my garage as I was driving out.
02:38Oh, she's totally blaming the wife for it then.
02:40I've got to. I can't admit to it.
02:42We'll get it sorted and get it back to you hopefully by the end of the week.
02:49A Lamborghini Huracan.
02:50I've never worked a one before.
02:52Never been in one, never been near one.
02:54But we've got a ramp going into our booth.
02:57And the Huracans are very low to the floor.
02:59I don't want to even think about scraping anything else on it.
03:03So I'm thinking, put it on our slopey trailer and drive it straight into the booth.
03:09Right, who's going to do what then?
03:11Do you want to drive it or do you want me to drive it?
03:12I don't think anyone wants to drive it, do they?
03:13No, it's a bit scary, isn't it?
03:15I'm a bit of a big chunk to get in this thing.
03:17I'm not built for Italian supercars.
03:19I think I'm more built for a Massey Ferguson tractor.
03:25I think this is the most expensive thing I've ever trailered.
03:31Keep going.
03:33Keep going.
03:35Keep going.
03:37Oh, steady now.
03:41Not scared at all, honest.
03:43All right.
03:44Keep going.
03:45How much more?
03:46There's loads.
03:47I can't touch the throttle flame.
03:49Keep going.
03:50How much more?
03:51There's loads.
03:52I can't touch the throttle flame.
03:54Why?
03:55It's either on or off.
03:57Keep going.
04:02All right, you're good there.
04:05This car is beautiful in every way, but it's terrifying.
04:11Got to watch out for that priceless Volvo.
04:13This is good, but the truth of it is,
04:16it'll only be in the booth a couple of hours,
04:19but it's taking them longer to get the car in,
04:23and that time, I can't charge for.
04:26Keep it straight.
04:28Keep going.
04:29You all right?
04:30It's weird to see you like that.
04:34Please don't scratch it.
04:36Just keep going back now.
04:38Yeah, it's fine, clear.
04:40It's great that he trusts us to work on his precious car,
04:43and we'll do a good job,
04:45but what we really need is £95 an hour restoration.
04:49Slower job.
04:50Take our time.
04:51That's where we are.
04:54It's a lovely car to do.
04:56It's great to have this sort of work in,
04:58but this has got to be as good as it would have been for the factory.
05:01All right, here comes the nerve-wracking bit.
05:03Back to it.
05:04Start.
05:05Start.
05:06Start.
05:07Start.
05:08Here comes the nerve-wracking bit.
05:09Back to it.
05:10Start.
05:11Starting at £160,000, £170,000 worth of Lamborghini.
05:20When we first opened the workshop,
05:22if an interesting car came in, everyone would gather round.
05:26Now, supercar comes in, and there's barely any reaction.
05:31Where's the excitement?
05:38Hello. Hello. Gardening again? Yeah, well, what are you doing? Walking dog and thinking.
05:51Watch she doesn't go after the fox. I will. Right, happy gardening. Thank you. I think
05:59there's been quite a lot of stress over the workshop. It's become a more complicated animal
06:05than he perhaps appreciated it would become. It's great that, you know, lots of people
06:10are realising they do good work and they're getting lots of jobs in the book and all the
06:14rest of it. But I think the problem possibly is it was sort of all a bit, all done a bit
06:23through rose-coloured spectacles and now they've become a bit murky. And I think reality is
06:28hitting. It's as though the business of the business is getting in the way of what drove
06:37me to start it, which is a love for cars and craftsmanship. Some of the mojo's gone. Sometimes
06:47the atmosphere in the workshop isn't what it should be, which is, hey, we're working
06:51with the greatest things in the world, classic cars, they're brilliant. I need to find a
06:55way of re-energising the whole enterprise. What I need is a brilliant idea, simple as
07:03that.
07:04Who might we be talking about and to, that's on QA Radio 9.
07:18Come here quick, our illustrious leader's on the radio.
07:20He's coming to Carfest, where he'll help restore old cars.
07:24Carfest?
07:25Carfest Festival.
07:26I'm bringing the team from the smallest cog, because they're like the A-team, aren't they?
07:31A-team?
07:32A-team.
07:33A's pushing it. B-plus?
07:34G?
07:35D?
07:36D?
07:37Did he say D?
07:38Cheeky little shit.
07:39I can't believe he said it.
07:40Is that a call-up? Promoting yourself with the D-team?
07:43He started off with G-team.
07:45Yeah, he started with G.
07:46Can't wait, I'm looking forward to it.
07:47It looks like we're going to Carfest.
07:49Yeah, to work.
07:50Exactly, it's Carfest.
07:52It's Chris Evans does it, innit?
07:53Yeah, it's basically just a big car show, but it's like a music festival at the same time.
07:56You ever been to a festival, have you?
07:57The last festival I went to was Arbis Festival.
08:00He doesn't like us sat around, does he?
08:02No.
08:05Carfest is going to be great. I'm sure the lads will be chuffed.
08:09And Oliver, this little Opel Kadett I drove across the spine of Africa on Top Gear, is the right car to take.
08:18It's a charity event. It's a perfect event for Oliver.
08:21It's a family thing, kids love him, parents do.
08:24It's just right. I don't want an aggressive supercar.
08:27You want something fun and cute and a bit quirky, which is Oliver.
08:33My only concern is, he has been out and about and been seen,
08:37and I feel like I need to do something a bit more.
08:40I don't know what yet.
08:42We'll put our heads together.
08:44We'll put our heads together.
08:46Just need to dial it up.
09:00Oh, here he is.
09:07Watch out.
09:08Hello. What's all this?
09:11Don't know, just trying to work out what all this does.
09:13And this chisel's a bit blunt.
09:15What's that for? What's wrong with you?
09:17Problem is, when you're like the D team, it's hard to work out what all this does.
09:20Oh! Oh!
09:22Oh, this is the radio thing.
09:24Calling your work colleagues dentists or whatever D stands for.
09:27What's a bit of fun?
09:29What, for thousands and thousands of people to listen to?
09:31Look, I'm sorry, OK? Have you got all that out of your system now,
09:34or is this funny joke going to run and run?
09:36Because we're all going to Carfest,
09:38and we need to think of some clever, cool things to do.
09:41First clever idea, get the kettle on.
09:43I'll make you a cup of tea.
09:45Coffee. I'll make you a cup of coffee.
09:47But we do have to start thinking of clever ideas for things to do at the show.
09:50We've got to be active, we've got to, you know, grab people.
09:53Take some crayons with us, perhaps?
09:55Very funny. You're very, very funny men.
09:57It's the watery thing in the corner with a plug on it.
09:59I don't know if I'd trust you with hot drinks.
10:04Carfest, it's a family event,
10:07but also potentially 30,000 customers.
10:11Any ideas? Yeah.
10:13Car walks, make a fortune.
10:15Naked? I think about being naked, don't you?
10:18We need some skill in it,
10:20but it's got to reward an audience with spectacle.
10:24We could take the E-Type and take the rear suspension of it,
10:27the IRS, and demonstrate how that works.
10:29Put enough people to sleep, wouldn't it?
10:31I've spent ten years touring a live show around the world,
10:35and we'd do stunts and stuff.
10:37Take the AMG. What, a race car?
10:39Yeah, take the race car. And do what?
10:41See who can do the quickest driver change.
10:43Yeah, he could do that.
10:45We can't just stand around saying,
10:47hey, look, we are the smallest car, look at us.
10:49We've got to put on a show.
10:51Tea drinking competition. Drinking tea.
10:53Yeah. Not bad. Not for that.
11:05Neil, have you had any ideas for what to do at car fests
11:09to entertain the crowds?
11:11These.
11:13It's a layman. It's just a spanner.
11:15But it isn't just a spanner, is it?
11:17Because you've got metric, AF, whip work.
11:21I think we maybe need to amp it up a bit.
11:23Family crowd, you know. Ah.
11:25You think lively, and I'll think lively.
11:27Celebrity spanner, guest spanner.
11:29Yeah, OK, there's more to be done.
11:31I wouldn't get very far without a spanner.
11:33The world was built with spanners.
11:35Nobody wants to know.
11:37Yep. OK.
11:39Work in progress.
11:41Thing is, Car Fest is coming up pretty soon.
11:43And the organisers aren't messing about.
11:47I've been summoned to a meeting.
11:51Normally, the shows, I just rock up at a time.
11:53And here I am, and everything's done.
11:55But, well, I'm involved this time, aren't I?
11:57Er, hang on.
11:59Ah.
12:01Hello, people of the Car Fest world.
12:03Hello. Hi.
12:05Oh, there's lots of you.
12:07Is this the whole team, or most of the team?
12:09I'd say this is the core team that make the dream happen.
12:13Well, they've got Hy-Vee's vests on, so they do all the work.
12:15They're building it all themselves now.
12:17Yeah, excellent.
12:19So, um, we've got a plan.
12:21We have a plan.
12:23The structure is now in place.
12:25We've branded it the smallest cog restoration garage.
12:27So this is the sort of mock-up workshop
12:29that we're going to base ourselves in.
12:31Yes.
12:33But there's lots of things that, obviously, we need to get done.
12:35What's required from me?
12:37Have you met our operations team?
12:39They perform for everything.
12:41Oh, God.
12:43Yeah, it's a risk assessment, a fire risk assessment,
12:45your method statement, your public liability
12:47and your employer's liability, please.
12:49I've gone off the Hy-Vee's tweet.
12:51It's all online, which is even worse.
12:53In terms of risk assessment, I haven't done the risk assessment.
12:55What would you say is the highest risk, then?
12:57A piano falling from the sky.
12:59That's bad. I've seen it happen.
13:01I have seen it happen.
13:03Yeah, any power requirements?
13:05Yeah, of course.
13:07You have to let them know. They have to order the power.
13:09Do I have to fill out a form?
13:11Yes.
13:13OK, so are we done?
13:15For now, to follow up with that paperwork.
13:17All right. Thank you.
13:19Bye.
13:21Blimey, they're building us an entire workshop.
13:23We're going to have to come up with something
13:25pretty spectacular to match up to their expectations here.
13:31I've got the Lamborghini prepped up now,
13:33so I pop the colour on.
13:35Same colour code as on an Audi, believe it or not.
13:37It's a bit awkward on that car,
13:39because where the damage is, it's quite difficult
13:41to get a spray gun in there.
13:43There's ways we can do it.
13:45Just crack on, get it painted, get it back to him.
13:55Come on, Soph.
13:57Yeah.
13:59What are they?
14:01I've got a good idea what they are.
14:03Oi!
14:05Look what's arrived.
14:07I'm hoping it's not what I think it is,
14:09because I'm not ready to see that yet.
14:11Oh, my God.
14:13Right, let's have a look.
14:15Oh, look at this.
14:17Oh!
14:19Rich!
14:21Come down here, mate, quick.
14:23You'll love this.
14:25Oh, sweet.
14:27Oh, for crying out loud.
14:29This was an actual working day
14:31in our workshop.
14:33Which month's that?
14:35April showers.
14:37Right, so April showers, I see.
14:39What am I doing on it?
14:41It didn't happen.
14:43So you're hoping people are going to buy these?
14:45Oh, definitely.
14:47Oh!
14:49Oh, God.
14:51She likes them.
15:17Hello.
15:19Are you interested in buying a car, by any chance?
15:21Well, no, you see, there are certain restrictions,
15:23Sophie, on my buying a car.
15:25They're called Mindy and Kamla.
15:27I'm going to show you, and I want...
15:29It's even worse if it's a car I want,
15:31because then I'll just get...
15:33I will guarantee you'll change your minds.
15:35Oh!
15:37Well, this came in an email.
15:39Good grief.
15:41South African import.
15:43I'm interested, yeah.
15:45Get me the email.
15:47That could be interesting.
15:49That could be really interesting.
16:01I'm trying to suppress
16:03immense excitement,
16:05because I'm on my way, well,
16:07to look at a car,
16:09but if I'm honest, I'm going to buy it.
16:17Right.
16:19OK.
16:25Hello?
16:27Richard!
16:29Jay. Yes.
16:31Mate, great to meet you. Ah, you too, sir.
16:33I'm genuinely excited about this.
16:35Let's have a look. I want to do it.
16:37Give me one second.
16:41It's a little girlfriend for Ollie.
16:43She's very, very pretty.
16:45Oh, that's...
16:47I could almost be tearful.
16:49It's absolutely superb.
16:51Please, all yours.
16:53Oh, look.
16:55Oh, little creature.
16:57This is a little bit of work that you said,
16:59and that's not a lot.
17:01Oh, I'm so overwhelmed.
17:03Can I?
17:05All yours, sir.
17:07What a lovely thing.
17:09It's got a beautiful little history.
17:11The paperwork from the original owner
17:13makes it obvious we've got that.
17:15Oh, I love paperwork.
17:17Even his last pay packet is with it.
17:19Can I start it?
17:21Let me just connect the battery.
17:23Oh, OK. Very sensible, very wise.
17:25A little bit of choke, maybe.
17:27I think she'll be all right, actually.
17:29There we go.
17:31Just absolutely dazzling.
17:33It's very strange
17:35to be in a car
17:37with which I'm so familiar.
17:39I'm besotted.
17:41It makes me unbelievably happy.
17:43I don't think I've ever seen another one.
17:45Finding these in the right-hand drive as well.
17:47They're not around.
17:49Nobody looked after them,
17:51so they've all been beaten up and abused and rusted away.
17:53Glad she's going to a good home.
17:55Oh, she'll be looked after, believe me.
17:57If you'd rung me up and said,
17:59Richard, I've got an original Testarossa
18:01and offered it to me at a good price,
18:03that's just... Yeah?
18:05Yeah, this is so simple, but so beautiful in a way.
18:07Oh.
18:11I can't tell you
18:13how rare that little car is.
18:15Might not be a Ferrari,
18:17but, I mean, there's none around.
18:19And as I'm looking, I'm thinking,
18:21I'm calling her Olivia.
18:23Oliver and Olivia.
18:25It's the perfect thing for CarFest.
18:27Two really cute little cars,
18:29one of which everybody's seen and heard about,
18:31the other which is his new girlfriend.
18:33A worthy
18:35partner
18:37for the legendary Oliver.
18:41CAR HORN
18:53Gentlemen.
18:55What have you done?
18:57No, I haven't painted Oliver red.
18:59That is Olivia.
19:01How have you found another Opel Kadett?
19:03Um, it found me.
19:05So now, there's two of these in the country.
19:07Yes. And you own both. I own both.
19:09I've got a new Nixon bits off for Oliver.
19:11Oh, I've just got a chrome.
19:13Oh, that was the button to press.
19:15No, that
19:17is not only the most
19:19beautiful and wondrous thing I think I've ever seen,
19:21it's also the answer
19:23to what do we do at CarFest?
19:25Because we're going to have a workshop at CarFest.
19:27We're going to do something. They don't want us just standing there in a line
19:29saying, aren't we pretty? Let's have a think.
19:31Let's come up with a plan.
19:33Tell you what,
19:35I've never seen another one.
19:37A little love story. I think it's great.
19:39You've got Oliver, and this is
19:41basically what he's been looking for all his life,
19:43and it's there.
19:45Not sure what Oliver will think,
19:47but I'm well and truly smitten.
19:49Neil?
19:51Well, he's got his own
19:53passion project.
20:01Hello, Neil. Hiya, Paul. How are you?
20:03Very good. Yourself? How's the racing going?
20:05Going okay. Ish. It's okay.
20:07So what are you after this time then? Not more sponsorship again?
20:09We've got to. We've had some calendars made.
20:11That time of year already, is it?
20:13Basically, it's to raise money for this
20:15leopard enclosure, because there's endangered leopards
20:17that need our help. So what's on the calendar then?
20:19I don't want to spoil you, but look at these.
20:21It's not like that film, is it?
20:23No, it's not that sort of calendar.
20:25Open it up. I need to check it first, make sure there's nothing risque
20:27in there. We don't want nothing below the waist.
20:29Can I see you still look? Yeah. You could do some rabbits in here,
20:31actually. If I could leave half a dozen of those with you
20:33and you could put one in your window, it would be perfect.
20:35Thank you, Mr Jones. There's your pound of mints. Do you want a calendar?
20:37Yeah. Very good indeed. We can do that for you.
20:39When Mindy came up
20:41with that idea, that photo shoot and the calendar,
20:43I thought, hmm. But then
20:45when it all came together, I thought,
20:47do you know what? They look really good. It's a bit of fun.
20:49It's helping a serious cause.
20:51Hello. Hello.
20:53Hello there. Would it be possible you could
20:55put some of those in your window for us, please?
20:57Certainly would.
20:59Oh,
21:01good afternoon.
21:03I can see you're very
21:05animal friendly and what we're asking
21:07is if somebody could put that in their window
21:09so people could see it and perhaps
21:11buy it.
21:13Shall I get
21:15the honour of putting this in then?
21:17The thing is, ever since the village
21:19partnership with Richard, everything's been
21:21really out of my comfort zone.
21:23Hello there.
21:25I'm here actually about
21:27rare leopards. Yeah, we sell
21:29leopard print. Oh, no, no.
21:31No, no, no. I'm not here to buy.
21:33No. Okay.
21:35Look. Empty.
21:37That's what I wanted. All those
21:39calendars are now put into shop windows
21:41down Ledbury High Street.
21:43And the next time I come back, hopefully
21:45I should be full of cash.
21:47Give it to Alan and get that leopard enclosure bill.

22:15Ah, Olivia. Oh, you all right?
22:17This little car
22:19needs to be our star turn
22:21at Carfest. I mean, it's already
22:23pretty good, but it needs to be
22:25amazing to be Oliver's girlfriend.
22:27I think we restore it
22:29at the show.
22:31We arrive with Olivia in
22:33boxes, engine out,
22:35everything off, and then over the course of the
22:37show, we reassemble the
22:39car so that by the end of the show,
22:41as somebody watching, as far as you're concerned,
22:43you're restoring it. How long have we got
22:45to put it back together then? A couple of days
22:47or so. Yeah, you could do that.
22:49Bolting something back together, that's okay,
22:51but we're a restoration
22:53gallery, and I would like
22:55to show something on body
22:57work that actually shows something happening
22:59and being restored. Well, hang on,
23:01the body work's fine. The only bit
23:03of problem was the bonnet, which Andrew
23:05is in fact painting. Yeah, but
23:07what we could do is get some
23:09very, very fine sandpaper, and you
23:11rub off the top layers of paint, and
23:13underneath that is good paint that's never
23:15seen daylight. Well, it actually does, in
23:17reality, makes it look really atrocious,
23:19but what you do then, you get different compounds
23:21of polish, and you start off with a coarse
23:23and go finer and finer, and you actually
23:25polish that till it's like glass. So you can get it back?
23:27Yeah, because these old cars,
23:29they used to fade all the time, and that's what you used to do,
23:31you just cut and polish them. It's actually shown
23:33something that's a bit retro. So we
23:35can credibly say that we are
23:37restoring this car after the show. Oh, it's genuinely
23:39there. We're rebuilding it completely, and we're restoring the
23:41paint, as long as the paint is thick enough.
23:43Exactly. That is
23:45where it's tricky. What if you can't make
23:47it look really good again, and you've ruined my
23:49car?
23:51That will happen.
23:53I don't think I can watch.
23:55This is not an insignificant
23:57task we've set ourselves here,
23:59because it's going to be
24:01done in public. By the end of it,
24:03we will be judged by everybody there
24:05on what they see in front of them.
24:07If we don't pull it off, it'll look like
24:09absolute muppets.
24:11If it was a proper restoration,
24:13I'd say eight weeks' worth of work, and
24:15we've got to achieve the same result
24:17in a couple of days. It's a tall order,
24:19but I've just got to make sure
24:21we get it back shiny again.
24:23Otherwise, we could be looking for
24:25a new job.
24:31Hi, Reg. Hello.
24:33Is it OK if I go and put the MGB
24:35race car back in the barn?
24:37I suppose it's time, isn't it?
24:39End of the season. Yeah. Put it away carefully.
24:41I will do. Tuck it up.
24:43All right. Cheers, Reg.
24:45It's kind of a moment,
24:47that, really.
24:49And truth be told,
24:51I don't know if it's going to be coming out again.
24:53Very expensive.
24:55Has it brought in
24:57much work?
24:59No.
25:01And it does get me shouted out by
25:03camera a lot.
25:05Maybe I'll think of something else.
25:07What's fun, though?
25:16My boyhood dream
25:18of being a racing driver could be at an end.
25:20That could be it.
25:22We've had our highs and we've had our lows,
25:24but to finish 11th
25:26out of 48 and 4th in class,
25:28I'm going to end this year on a massive high.
25:30But I want the high to continue.
25:33And I'm just hoping that I've done enough
25:35to carry on, really.
25:37Could be a sad day,
25:39but hopefully it won't be the last time
25:41we see Doris.
25:45Good night, girl.
26:02So we've taken the engine out.
26:04It looks proper ratty
26:06and the paintwork is now rough.
26:08We've taken everything off that's shiny and nice.
26:10What we're showing is
26:12you could take something that
26:14to everybody else might look not worth bothering with
26:16and then making it good again.
26:18At the moment, she's Cinderella.
26:20And we're going to get the glass slipper, slip it on,
26:22and all of a sudden it's going to be Cinderella.
26:24And she's Cinderella.
26:26She's Cinderella.
26:28She's Cinderella.
26:30We're going to get the glass slipper, slip it on,
26:32and all of us are going to be thinking,
26:34I'm punching above my weight here.
26:44There's a lot of packing going on here today.
26:46Me and the lads down there
26:48all ready for car fest.
26:50And I'm excited about it, which is good.
26:52I mean, it's my kind of environment.
26:54A bit of media work.
26:56A bit of show stuff going on.
26:58I'm also kind of doubly glad we're doing it
27:00because I'm going to use
27:02this car fest experience to really
27:04get some positivity going.
27:06I've got business cards as well.
27:08Business.
27:22So this is
27:24obviously it.
27:26There we are. Look, that's our workshop.
27:28Look at it.
27:32Here we are.
27:34Can we take that building home with us when we're finished?
27:36Might as well. Do you want it in your garden?
27:38Cars have been delivered.
27:40Hey, that's good, isn't it?
27:42It's better than a gazebo.
27:44Right, let's get the car off the trailer.
27:50Look at that.
27:52Left hand down a little bit.
27:54We are in.
27:56So, what I'm going to do
27:58now is leave you to dress
28:00the set and finish it.
28:02Because I've got to go and do some media stuff.
28:04I'm going to have to do a fair bit of that
28:06during this show.
28:10Richard's doing his
28:12TV personality hobnobbing
28:14a terrible job that it is.
28:16He wouldn't want to go having all that champagne,
28:18salmon and scrambled egg for breakfast.
28:20It would be spoiled. It would be no good for us at all.
28:22You know, when we meet socially,
28:24I make a beeline for you.
28:26Because your company's excellent.
28:28And we're the same height.
28:30That's exactly why I do it.
28:32It's pretty handy, isn't it?
28:34I'm just scooting off this area of the day.
28:36He's got important work to do, you know.
28:38He's got to talk about stuff that we're doing
28:40and how hard we're working.
28:42He's having a nice...
28:44He's having a coffee, probably.
28:46Oh, mate. Thank you.
28:48This car, on Sunday, is going to be driven around that parade.
28:50All the trim's got to go back in it.
28:52The chrome, the engine's in a crate over there.
28:54I'm just a bit worried.
28:56There's a lot to do.
29:04Got to start thinking about it.
29:06I think we've got Chris Evans coming here to kick us off.
29:08It's going to be bedlam.
29:18Everything's under control.
29:20Why wouldn't it be?
29:22Why wouldn't it be?
29:24It'll be fine.
29:34Ladies and gentlemen,
29:36Mr Chris Evans is on our stand.
29:38So, before Chris does the countdown
29:40and the kick-off to start the work,
29:42remember, by Sunday afternoon,
29:44Olivia has to look as splendid as Oliver
29:46and I'd like to introduce you to the team
29:48that's going to do it.
29:50The team!
29:52So we have Neil, Andrew and Isaac.
29:54Come on, flunk.
29:56Because I say we're going to do it,
29:58they're going to do it.
30:00Is there a chance?
30:02Yeah. No problem.
30:04Neil? Yeah.
30:06And on that note,
30:08shall we get going? Shall we do it?
30:10Ten, nine, eight,
30:12seven, six, five,
30:14four, three,
30:16two, one,
30:18begin!
30:20Go! Go! Go!
30:22Go!
30:24Oh, there we go.
30:26Look at the land with which they start the project.
30:28Athletes. Have a break.
30:30No, we've got to get cracking.
30:32You have got to do that.
30:34Are you more than willing to give it a hand on Sunday?
30:36I'll be back in a minute.
30:38Come on, Rich. Bar's open.
30:40It was nice to have Chris
30:42to come and set us off,
30:44although it wasn't exactly a Le Mans start.
30:46They haven't sprinted into action.
30:48Sorry.
30:50Andrew, we're going to build the car.
30:52I'll be two minutes.
30:54It's got to drive around on Sunday.
30:56It'll be all right.
30:58This is just exactly like being in the workshop.
31:00Literally no-one here working but me.
31:02Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.
31:04We've not failed yet.
31:06There's still time for us to fail.
31:08I kind of hope they get it done.
31:10They're mostly arguing.
31:12If I get it done tomorrow, you don't realise...
31:14They're trying to argue the car
31:16into being restored.
31:18Get over there!
31:20Well said, that man.
31:22Here we go. It's all started now, kicked off.
31:24Now there's only one of them left on the stage.
31:26Where's Isaac gone now?
31:28What are you doing?
31:30I'm trying to organise you like a sheepdog.
31:32No, you're right there. You've got plenty of bark.
31:34Oh, my God, it's all going terribly wrong.
31:36Come on.
31:38We're off. Well, sort of.
31:42The plan is to get Olivia running again
31:44by the end of the day and then concentrate
31:46on rebuilding the rest of her tomorrow.
31:50Right, are we ready for engine in?
31:52Yeah, I think we are, yeah.
31:54I'm going to try and get a little crowd.
31:56I want us to be slick-ish.
32:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the smallest cog stand.
32:02Their job within the next 20 minutes
32:04is to get the engine in the car
32:06and run it.
32:08Nice and steady.
32:10This is a critical bit in a heart transplant.
32:12The heart's going in.
32:14OK.
32:16It's actually quite interesting, the people are watching.
32:18David.
32:20Right, you've just got to get him back.
32:22Is he being stolen, Pete?
32:24Yes, it's a bit of a juggling, fiddly, twiddly hat
32:26to get him in.
32:30Some's got to drop over the crossmember.
32:32Go in a hole and locate.
32:34Come on, girl.
32:36Stop being a pig.
32:40Waggle, wiggle, waggle.
32:42Nerves getting a little afraid.
32:44I mean, yeah, we're trying to do it for the crowd
32:46to see the engine going, but more to the point,
32:48we've got to finish the car.
32:52Thank you for sticking with us.
32:56Also, it would be quite good
32:58if Neil would hitch his trousers properly,
33:00because I'm not sure anybody wants to see that.
33:02Say when.
33:04Go.
33:06There he goes.
33:08Oh, that is it.
33:10Well done.
33:12That did not want to go in, did it?
33:14Thank God for that.
33:16It's a bit worrying when you've got a crowd of people.
33:20We are only minutes away from firing up Olivia,
33:22which will be quite exciting.
33:24You've got the key?
33:26No.
33:28Seriously? Are you joking?
33:30Tell me we've got the keys.
33:32What are these, Neil?
33:34What? In your back pocket?
33:36No, it wouldn't be me.
33:38Come on, let's try it.
33:40Come on.
33:42Is that fire?
33:44Being temperamental, it's OK, it'll go now.
33:46Will it?
33:48Got any fuel there?
33:50I smell fuel.
33:52Isaac, where's the other wire?
33:54Oh, no wonder.
33:56Oh!
33:58Only an hour over time.
34:00All we're going to do now is finish the car
34:02by tomorrow afternoon.
34:04We'll be driving them in tandem around the track.
34:06Well done.
34:08We're sticking with it.
34:10Yet again,
34:12in the last minutes of desperation,
34:14we've managed to crawl ourselves out of the swamp.
34:16That was exciting.
34:18That didn't go exactly to plan, did it?
34:20Everything going wrong.
34:22It was going wrong.
34:24If that's a workshop, you haven't got that many people
34:26stood there watching you.
34:28At least we got it going.
34:30I was worried there was going to be something missing.
34:32We haven't finished yet.
34:34We're not there yet.
34:38This one's me.
34:40It's nice, isn't it?
34:42Go on, let's have a look.
34:44Can we come in?
34:46Yes, come in, enter.
34:48I can't remember where the lights are.
34:50Welcome to Chez Moi.
34:52A bedroom down there?
34:54Not good of you at all, but you don't need to worry about it so much.
34:56Why?
34:58I could only get one of these,
35:00but I've got an alternative.
35:02It's just like this one,
35:04but a different campsite.
35:06Can I stay in that single bed?
35:08No, that's where I put my suitcase.
35:10Go and have a look. You'll be Bobby.
35:12Good night's sleep. That's the thing.
35:16There she is.
35:18You're going to love this.
35:20I don't like the sound of that.
35:22There's beds overlapping beds here.
35:24It's not exactly an airstream, is it?
35:26This is not quite what Richard's got, is it?
35:28She's a bit of an angle, isn't she?
35:30I can have my feet hanging out.
35:32We've got to make the most of what we've got.
35:34The thing we've got better than Richard's,
35:36we've got three double beds.
35:38Yeah, we've got it better than him.
35:40Hang on a minute.
35:42This is going down.
35:44I'm joking.
35:46Anthony, you're young and nimble.
35:48Can we swap beds?
35:50No.
35:52Yeah, but you ain't going to be sleeping on a molehill, are you?
35:54No, you're right. I'm not.
35:56Night-night, Cogs.
35:58Busy day tomorrow.
36:16A couple of things on my mind.
36:36The show opens in about 20 minutes,
36:38and Olivia is very much not a car yet.
36:42Andrew, however, is feeling really unwell.
36:44He's had to go home.
36:46So we're a man down,
36:48and we've got to get that car ready to drive around the track this afternoon.
36:56Any of you mechanics?
36:58Anybody?
37:00Stig, can you fit this gear box?
37:02That's what we need.
37:04An ace of cards, and we ain't got one.
37:06Anyway, where's the grill?
37:08I've got it.
37:10You've got to actually check now.
37:12It's ten o'clock.
37:14In a couple of hours, this car has got to be driving around the track with Richard in it.
37:18Where have you been?
37:20Where have I been?
37:22I've been on a recruitment drive.
37:24I've been trying to get us some staff.
37:26Why have you got a coffee?
37:28This isn't...
37:30Where's mine?
37:32Have you finished that yet?
37:34No, I've been here a bit working.
37:36If you stop talking to me, you'll get it done, won't you?
37:38If you ignore him, he'll crack on.
37:40While the boys rush to finish the rebuild,
37:43Neil's about to find out if his plan of carefully polishing up an underlying layer of paint
37:49to make Olivia look beautiful will work.
37:58You can see the difference where this has been rough,
38:03and we can get it as good as this, and look at that.
38:06That's pride, that is.
38:08On a sense of achievement, polish a car.
38:10That's exactly what it is.
38:14With the lads hard at it, there's no point in my getting in their way.
38:18This guy's got the mobile car show.
38:21Just parade them past you. You don't have to go anywhere.
38:25The thing is now, we've got to be on that track in less than an hour,
38:28and the car's not finished.
38:30Richard's gone missing in action again.
38:32The thing is, it's been a long day already.
38:34Richard's literally taken the mech now.
38:36These are lovely. They're so pretty.
38:39Scallop side on them.
38:41De Tomaso Pantera?
38:43American engine, Italian car.
38:46We need to get these cranes on this side, get the boys on the back,
38:48he's on the front, get the wheels back on it.
38:50We've got a lot to do.
38:51Just life. Life is life, and we've got to put up with it.
39:00I get the sense I probably should return and see how the guys are doing.
39:04We've got as far as we can get up to now.
39:06Basically, we've got Chris Evans coming in a minute.
39:08So what we're going to do, I'm going to get Chris to have a go at that wing,
39:11and we'll have a comparison and see if their works as good as ours.
39:18Ladies and gentlemen, in the final sprint for the finish line,
39:21we need all hands on deck.
39:23So, we are bringing in our new apprentices,
39:26and if you'd like to join us, please.
39:28They are Chris Evans and the legend that is Noah.
39:30Come on, both of you.
39:33Sorry, everyone.
39:35He's all right, it's me you need to worry about.
39:37This is the critical bit to be finished.
39:39You've got to get that looking like that.
39:42Neil, will you talk them through what they've got to do?
39:44Good morning, gentlemen. Morning, Neil.
39:46Have you got to take control of that?
39:48When do you feel brave enough?
39:50See if I did the boy, and he just steps forward, yeah, all right,
39:52you're going to be all right with this?
39:54It's clever, because he knows that if I mess it up, it's not his fault.
39:59He's too clever. OK, Noah, no pressure.
40:06And that's actually taken that nasty, horrible layer of grey off.
40:10Perfect, well done.
40:13You fancy a go with the polishing machine, sir?
40:15Do I fancy a go? Yes, I do, actually.
40:20This bit can go spectacularly wrong.
40:23The trick is to keep it moving.
40:25Oh, yeah, that's a key piece of information.
40:27If you leave it in one place too long, you ruin it.
40:29It's a bit like a hedge trimmer, isn't it?
40:31It's nothing whatsoever like a hedge trimmer.
40:35Oh, look at that, look at that.
40:37Noah, you did the hard bit, by the way.
40:39He's taken all the glory, but there you go, that's fine.
40:41Have you met your dad?
40:45We'll see you around. Enjoy the rest of Carfest.
40:47Spectacular event, enjoy.
40:50I reckon he's done it before. He's good, though.
40:53If ever he got bored of that entertainment job,
40:55he could always take up a bit of detailing and make himself a few quid.
41:08What do you think? Don't it look nice in the sun?
41:11It looks superb, lads.
41:13Right down to the wire, literally.
41:15That really was close to the wire.
41:17This is the first time they've been out together.
41:19Don't they look cute? I think it's fantastic.
41:22I'm blown away.
41:24Right, all aboard. Let's do it.
41:28What do you think Oliver thinks of her?
41:30Probably rather likes her.
41:32She's a scarlet lady.
41:40The brakes feel a bit odd, but let's just hope it gets all the way round.
41:45This is Olivia. This is Olivia. Isn't she great?
41:48What's it going to be like to drive? You know what Oliver's like.
41:51I should warn you, these two cars between them struggle to make 80 horsepower.
41:55I'm going to try and light it up, but I wouldn't hold your breath.
41:59Well, enjoy. Good luck with the first ever spin, then.
42:03The new girlfriend for Oliver, and away Richard Hammond goes.
42:07He did a bit. He did it, he did it, he did it.
42:10That's crazy. That's as much as I've got.
42:14Yeah, hey, hello.
42:17She does roll a bit through the corners.
42:19Hold on.
42:22That's the least powerful cars to go around this track all festive.
42:30Well, that was brilliant, mate. Well done.
42:32Well done to the team. We got it there.
42:35Well done. Congratulations.
42:37Do you know what? That worked, didn't it? I mean, it really did.
42:41Yeah, my first ever festival.
42:43Yes, I wanted to come on to this.
42:45And I've heard reports now, has he been raving?
42:49He's actually at the front of a mosh pit.
42:51He's just a festival-going hippie.
42:53He'll go now. He'll be off next round, dreadlocks fitted.
42:57I think he's...
42:59He's just a festival-going hippie.
43:01He's just a festival-going hippie.
43:03He's just a festival-going hippie.
43:05I think he...
43:08That was great fun.
43:10Spending time around amazing cars and their owners.
43:13The enthusiasm in the air.
43:16And it's really reminded me why I set up the Smallest Cog in the first place,
43:20which was to be a workshop carrying out beautiful, ground-up, full restorations.
43:26But we're three years in now, and we're not getting those jobs.
43:29It could be the way the cogs run.
43:31Let's be honest, I'm not the best manager in the world,
43:33and probably never will be.
43:35But I am going to have to do something
43:38if I'm going to turn this into the business I set out to build.
43:41I think there might be a bit of a shake-up coming.
44:01Smallest Cog
