00:00A former care home which has fallen into disrepair after being shut down in 2019 is set to be
00:06converted into flats. Planning permission has been granted for a redevelopment of the
00:11Grade II listed former Moorfield House nursing home in Moortown. The owner has sought permission
00:17for 14 flats along with office space, a new car park and bicycle storage at the Fieldhouse
00:23Walk site. The building was previously a 49-bed care home for over-65s which closed following
00:29a Care Quality Commission inspection. Leeds City Council has given planning permission
00:34for the project which is proposed by rental company Madison Offices. The design report
00:39said bringing the building back into use would help reduce antisocial behaviour in the area
00:44and that Moorfield House was among ageing care homes that are no longer deemed suitable
00:49by the government. The report said an over-supply of large purpose-built care homes has seen
00:54new and old facilities being unable to attract enough residents to fill available beds.
