00:00Hello, very good day to you. We have some wet and wintry weather on the cards and
00:04we've got temperatures dropping markedly as we go through the next day or so.
00:08That's because of this cold Arctic air that's plunging its way southwards
00:12across the UK. It's really going to leave temperatures being much lower than we
00:16have seen through some recent days. Taking a closer look at this afternoon
00:20and we have a band of rain making its way southwards across central parts.
00:23Could be a little bit of snow on the back edge of this. Further north there'll
00:27be wintry showers feeding in on that cold Arctic air and it is going to feel
00:31cold here, especially when you factor in the strong winds towards the northwest.
00:35Meanwhile in the south here a few showers this afternoon but temperatures
00:39not as low, staying quite mild with temperatures in the mid-teens Celsius. As
00:44we go through the end of the day this band of rain will continue its way
00:47southwards and we'll likely see a little bit more snow as we go through the
00:51evening and overnight, even across parts of the southeast. Though I'm not
00:54expecting much if anything to settle, particularly on any roads. There it
00:57should stay largely clear, though we could see a few slushy deposits of snow
01:01on any grassy surfaces. Further north plenty of wintry showers continuing to
01:05feed their way in. As a result we do have a yellow ice warning in force. We could
01:10see some icy stretches and perhaps some snow accumulating above two to three
01:14hundred meters. We could see five centimeters perhaps, so this could allow
01:18for some traffic disruption first thing on Thursday morning. It is going to be a
01:22cold night, quite widely frosty, could get as low as minus five or minus six in
01:27the sheltered glens of Scotland. A little bit milder further south where we have a
01:30bit of cloud and rain. As we look towards Thursday then and a cold frosty start
01:35for many of us, any lingering rain and snow across the far south should clear
01:39away through the morning. Otherwise then plenty of sunshine and showers for many
01:43of us. The showers continuing to feed in on that cold Arctic air, so particularly
01:48towards the north and east. Here that's where they're going to be most frequent
01:50and could still be wintry at times as well. Temperatures for many similarish to
01:55today, so still feeling quite cold, but colder than today across southern parts.
01:59And in the southeast it's going to be windy as well, could see some coastal
02:02gales. As we go through the end of the weekend into the weekend there won't be
02:06a huge change, but we are likely to see temperatures lifting just a little bit,
02:10so less frosty by night. It is going to be quite cloudy though and we are going
02:14to see some further rain and perhaps hill snow as well. Remember you can keep
02:18up to date with the full forecast, particularly the snow that we are
02:21expecting later on today, on all of our social media channels and our website
02:25and app. See you later.
